Moody to Murtha: What a Jagoff

I proudly hail from western Pennsylvania, a beautiful part of the United States. John Murtha, the Democratic congressman from Johnstown, Pa., just said something unforgivable about my home. He said, “There is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area.”

The congressman was sliming his neighbors, and me, because he thinks Barack Obama would be even further ahead in Pennsylvania were it not for racial bias on the part of the state’s residents. Obama leads by 13 percent according to RealClearPolitics.com

I’m sure there are racists in Pennsylvania. They probably exist in all 50 states. Further, there are probably some who discriminate against others whose skin color is not like theirs in Harlem, south central LA, and downtown Philadelphia.

Congressman Murtha served his country honorably in the military; I did not. So I was hesitant to criticize him earlier when he maligned our troops in Iraq. But I’m just as much a Pennsylvanian as he is. And for making such ugly comments about a wonderful part of the country, he can go to hell. I don’t mean to be ungracious, but he started it.

We have a name for people like Jack Murtha: jagoff.

In regards to the bailout - did you notice who voted for the bailout? It mostly your DEMOCRATIC friends. My REPUBLICAN congressmen and senators did not vote this bill. Also, this problem was brought on by democrats siding with groups such as ACORN to push banks to making high risk loans.

Next time do a little research prior to making a blog!

obama complained that he would be up 2 more points in the poll if FOX News covered him more positive( code for don’t report the bad stuff). If the rest of the media were doing their job, Hillary would be the dem candidate. The American Public knows more about Joe the Plumber than barak obama. Maybe jorgie , being a a card carrying dem, can point this out on their websites?

What a dope. Great job, Jack. Nice.

Comment by Jorgie15

I am a card-carrying Democrat and actually agreed with Moody on one argument he made. Racism exists in every part of this country, including Pennsylvania.

However, that is where my agreement with him stops. Regardless of whether or not Moody agrees with Murtha on this issue, there is a way to handle disagreements and differences of opinion in a respectful and meaningful way. The fact that the Executive Vice President of a major cable news organization resorted to saying “he started it” and “go to hell” simply diminishes the point(s) he was trying to make.

Congressman Murtha’s comments are an affront to ALL Pennsylvanians! He’s obvioulsy lost touch w/the constituents he supposedly represents. Time for a change out in Western PA… As he exits the door in November he should apologize to the US Marines for this slanderous accusations of our brave troops in Haditha…

I was born and raised in Erie Pennsylvania. I am a veteran of the US Air Force. I have a name for Murtha but my mother raised me better than that. Murtha is capable of just about any thing in an effort to move his agenda. Race baiting is a long tradition among some ultra liberals like Murtha. This is just another ploy to offend one group in an effort to motivate another. He is a joke and a fool. Thanks for having the guts to call him what he is.

To John who called all republicans scum……you are one of the reasons I hang on to my guns and religion.

Hey FOX News moderator…I thought “libelous or obscene content will not be allowed” to be posted? Are you aware that allowing postings to contain Obama/Osama Arabic name references is contrary to this claim? Here is the definition of libelous: In law, defamation (also called calumny, libel, slander, and vilification) is the communication of a statement that makes a false claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government or nation a negative image.

Barak Obama is not Osama Bin Laden and to allow postings to imply otherwise is not only irresponsible, but is encouraging racist tones to put American citizens in danger. I know I’m not going to convince anyone using such slander to feel differently, but I sincerely hope I can influence you to not post racist comments on this forum. This country is founded on a constitution of equality, and although we have an ugly history on adhering to equality, we’ve come a long way. Please don’t allow this forum to take us backwards…John McCain agrees with me on this!

Personally, I don’t care for Murtha-however, the same statement can be applied to my home state of Texas because some of my fellow Texans have indicated that they don’t care for McCain and yet they will vote for him because they can’t vote for OBAMA because well, he’s Black! So those of you that are angry with Murtha and his statements don’t be so sensitive because when the minorities are complaining we call them whiners or tell them to go back to their countries. Stop denying the fact many of us just can’t get beyond the color of skin and many of us are still hiding the fact that we are closet racists.

Comment by Obomination if Obama

However, we do owe Murtha thanks for personally rekindling Obama’s small town, guns, and religion comment to his San Francisco elite friends.

TRUTH ASIDE: Imagine the public outrage if a white senator publically said the only reason Obama has such a lead, or are close to McCain pooling in states such as North Carolina, Georgia, SC, MS, AL, is because of large blocks of blacks voters were simply going to vote for Obama, not based on his standings on important issues, but because he is black.

If Obama and McCain’s positions were flipped, my vote would follow the position and not the color of the candidate as most decent folks would no matter which candidate you want.

Americans should vote for the candidate that best suits their position as far as economic tax, foreign and domestic policies along with what they see and feel is their true character based on their history, track record, and accomplishments.

What is just so simply masterful in it’s genius attention to duplicity is the tactic by the Obama campaign, the mainstream media, and by the supporters of Obama is their attempt on one hand to introduce sentiments of racism and collective guilt based on our country’s past to influence a vote judgment based on the color of someone’s skin, while on the other hand, any of those who dare question the content of his character, past associations, leadership, track record, or accomplishments are portrayed as a racist in an effort to diminish the person’s position, and if need be, destroy them regardless of the harm or impact the false accusations have to them, their families, and their children in school.

If Obama and Murtha really are interested in “sharing the wealth”, why don’t they take some of their wealth and help Obama’s half brother in Kenya, who is living impoverished in a shantytown on less than a dollar a month. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/uselection2008/barackobama/2590614/Barack-Obamas-lost-brother-found-in-Kenya.html

This country is not ready for a black socialist with a Muslim name as President and a pledgerizing (anyone remember that?) pompous ass for a VP. Throw in the fact that he has poor judgement and no qualifications — God help this country if that is what we elect. I’d rather take my chances with a poor economy than risk ending up in a Socialist country.

For those of you who are religious –take a look at the description of what the Antichrist is supposed to look like — a slender dark-complexed well-spoken man that people respect and trust so he becomes powerful and then all hell breaks loose (literally). Now who does that sound like to you??

Call me racist or call me a realist –I don’t care — I’m not voting for Obama cause he is scary!

Comment by Bob Malcom

I’m a 65 year old WASP, who was raised in the deep south. Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, etc.
When I was about 8 years old, I was the only one on a city bus in Alabama. A black lady got on, & sat down in the first seat she came to, & the driver told her she had to sit in the back.
At the time, I thought it was stupid, & still do, but that didn’t keep me from disliking blacks when I got older.
However, since my teen years, I’ve come to view black people the same as everyone else. They are individuals. Period. Some good, some bad, some smart & hardworking, others who think their race will carry them, & everything anyone says criticizing their slovenly ways, is “Racist” & “Discriminatory”.
Jeremiah Wright falls into the latter category, as does Barack Obama, as far as I can see.
Jeremiah Wright’s comments don’t even deserve any serious discussion, they are so outrageously racist & inflammatory.
Obama, on the other hand, is running for the highest office in this country, & some of his comments bear discussion, however there is neither the time nor the space for that discussion here.
Suffice it to say that Obama has ALREADY reneged on several promises & statements he made earlier in the campaign.
One that comes to mind is that Jeremiah Wright was his pastor & “Mentor”, & he could no more disavow his comments than he could his “Racist Grandmother”.
Then, there was the statement that if his opponent chose to take Federal Matching Funds, he would sit down & discuss with him if he would or not. That “Discussion” never occured. He saw he was getting plenty of money without them, so he threw that promise under the bus.
There was the comment that he would be glad to sit down & talk, one on one, with the President of Iran, without any preconditions, then he changed his mind on that.
As far as I can see, Obama talks out both sides of his mouth, & uses his race to keep him from being called on it, because anyone who criticizes him is automatically branded as a “Racist” by his campaing, & the media echoes that sentiment.
As for “Redistributing the wealth”. I do a pretty good job of redistributing my own wealth. All $30K of it per year, to my kids, my neighbors, charities, gas stations, the IRS, the state of Ky, where I live now, etc, etc, etc.
All I can say is that I feel sorry for this country & it’s citizens, especially the middle class, who, even though Obama will never admit it, will end up paying for his “Redistribution”.

As for Murtha, I DID serve this country in the military for 15 years, then spent almost 20 more working for the military, repairing nuclear submarines, & I DID take offense to his comments about the men in Iraq, & others. Frankly, I take offense at just about everything he says, since he usually forgets the old first rule in the military “Caution: Engage brain before starting mouth”. Of course, being white, Murtha can’t use his race to get out of it.

As a former far left wacko member of NOW for over a decade, I used to teach in an English dept of 22. Almost all of the teachers were liberal/Democratic (just not as liberal as I was). I CHOSE to teach reading to poor, black teenagers and I did a great job. I was asked OFTEN by other teachers WHY I would want to work so hard with the bottom of society (some of my high school kids read at the 3rd grade level and most came from messed up families..usually not intact).
I used to AVOID the English teacher’s office area (for the 21…I was the 22nd) because these ENLIGHTENED ONES and TOLERANT ONES and INTELLECTUAL ONES who supposedly championed INCLUSION and DIVERSITY used to tell RACIST jokes! Sure, they tried to make them cute, but they exposed who they REALLY were.

There are JUST AS MANY RACISTS/PREJUDICE PEOPLE among the liberal crowd, Folks. Murtha is a prime example of that…the jerk went ahead and judged an entire state because he CHOOSES to believe that some people won’t vote for Obama because he’s a socialist who wants to redistribute THEIR income while he associates with Raines, Ayers, Wright (A RACIST), Johnson, Ayers, Rezko, ACORN and all the others who show us Obama’s POOR judgement. Color is not Obama’s problem! Murtha is a prejudiced loser who has been dishonest about MANY things the past few years.

Comrad - PLEASE MOVE/FLY/GO to another country where the government is more in line with your thinking and leave America. If you lived in one of those countries, you would not have free speech!

Comment by Irishangel

I believe that Congressman Murtha is looking for a place to lay the blame. The Good Old Days of Political Machines is replaced with people who split their tickets and think for themselves rather than adhering to the party line He can no longer guarantee that he will deliver the vote from his constituents. Any excuse is better than none.

I don’t believe we in Western Pa. are racists but more likely prejudice. We hate injustice, cruelty, unfair wages, high taxes, and liars to name a few.We dislike people who believe they are very important and look down on everyone else. We like you for who you are, not because you have fame, money or power. Teresa Heinz Kerry had commented on this point that Pittsburgh is different.
We give more money to charity than anywhere else in the world. We care about others who may have fallen on hard times and need a lift. We are thought of as very friendly by those who visit here. I am sorry to hear that some have experiences that really do not reflect who we really are. Perhaps you met transplants from another state, or you misunderstand what we have said. If you stand still long enough we strike up a conversation and try to understand who you are and get to know you.
There is a lot of misconceptions out there. It takes time and research to determine the truth.
We take our 2nd amendment rights seriously as seriously as our cultural heritage, and moral values and try to change other people to our way of thinking.
We appreciate talent, hard work, intelligence and tolerance. We are compassionate and empathic. Very Patriotic since we have a long history of serving in all branches of the military
Perhaps Congressman Murtha should withdraw from the race and retire. He obviously has lost touch with the people in his district! Unfortunately he can only truly speak for himself, not an entire region!( although I guess I am doing the same thing)
We have the best people in the world living here. It’s sad that congressman Murtha doesn’t recognize that!

Comment by Dave Sullivan

Though I’m not from Pennsylvania I am an American with American values! Love of God, Love of Family and Love of Country. Obama is a Communist! Yes I said it! His early years before, during and after college was with people of the same state of mind that DO hate this country and would say and do anything to get into office and once in WOULD slowly change policies which support maxcist policies. His slip of words to Joe the Plumber that he would take the added tax money collect from him then “spread the wealth” to others IS the foundation of Communist beliefs!

NOBAMA NOBAMA NOBAMA… I DON’T CARE WHAT HIS SKIN COLOR IS BUT HIS POLITICS ARE RED!!!

Comment by Heather A.

Unfortunately, I can understand why Murtha made his comments, although it may not make it right. Western PA is primarily a WhiteAngloSaxonProtestant area. I’m white & had negative/hurtful comments made to me because I was raised Catholic. I grew up in Greene County, PA-very southwestern part of PA. A community there held a KuKluxKlan march when I was in highschool. & if I recall this is a very racial hating group. And growing up there I’ve experienced people’s looks, the “n” word & racial jokes. And even today my father has debates with his neighbor in regards to his neighbors’ racism. If it wasn’t for the local colleges & universities there would be little to no diversity in this area. It is because of western PA “culture”, that I will probably never move back to that area. Now, this doesn’t mean that these are bad people, but from my experience many people in this demographic area are close minded & ignorant to anything different. I am making a broad statement, & this doesn’t mean that everyone in this area is racist. And I’ve met people of other races who are racist too. So racism is not only whites against blacks.

Comment by Bob

Does anyone have any doubt that if (when) Obama is elected, anyone who doesn’t agree with him will be a ‘racisit’, and the media (most of it) will be afraid to question anything does? He’ll be free to do whatever he wants. That’s the real scary part..

Come out and see your neighborhood Mr. Moody. I lived in that area for a good chunk of my life and I suspect that Mr. Moody is perhaps not aware of what that area (and many others in PA and other states) is like because he is sitting in his all white, all male social club. A major portion of the people in that area would be happy to tell you they are racist and proud of it and that this country needs it’s collective head examined if we elect a black socialist president with a Muslim name.

Comment by T bone

Jagoff? That rhymes with ‘jack off’… A some what more well known term that would also apply to rolly polly John Murtha (a man that illustrates the effect of pork chop and gravy addiction). Let’s rejoice though…surely he can’t last much longer. He’s a walking talking clogged capillary, coronary bypass, Halloween clown/ghoul costume. Sort of the antithesis of dingy Harry Reed (who resembles a resurrected corpse drug from a mine cave-in).

this is yet a further attempt by Democrats like Murtha to paint everyone who is not supporting Obama as a racist. they believe that they can intimidate the people. he instead should be humbled by his home state voters - how about a referendum to have him removed from office?

Good luck, United Socialist States of America!

This is for “bye bye bye…” So many ignorant comments, I don’t where to begin:

O.K. first, the question of racism. Webster defines it as “primary determinant of human traits”. To say that blacks are not voting for Obama because he black is ridiculous. That’s exactly why they are voting for him. I saw a black news anchor [Lehmen] on that rag CNN challenge John Harris, one of the few black man who will vote ideology and not race, lambaste this man by saying: Don’t you have an obligation to elect the first black man into the White House!”. So tell me again bye, bye…not voting for Obama because he’s part black?

And the notion that rich Democrats are willing to pay their share of extra taxes, but rich Republicans aren’t….let’s see. Can you say Charlie Rangel-Democrat and a black man, evading taxes!!! And he’s the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee…..he is THE TAXMAN!

I say people….unless you want socialism….when it comes to Obama, use the “N” word….”NO”!

Murtha is a fool.

Comment by DB

I agree with you 100%. When I saw this in the news today, I was infuriated. Yes, racism does exist. Yes, it even exists in Pennsylvania. That is a far cry, however, from labeling somewhere as “a racist area”. In my opinion this doesn’t even have anything to do with racism. It simply has to do with Jack Murtha, yet again, trying to use shock tactics and personal degredation to bring himself into the spotlight. What he is doing, offends me. He has insulted the military and now he has insulted my home. I will not stand for that.

Comment by lucasaj28

Amen, brother! Murtha’s comment is itself racist, because he assumes that people would make a decision about the presidency based on race. Serving in our military is an admirable action, but it doesn’t give you license to stereotype an entire region.

Comment by Bruce H.

If Obama and his disciple Murtha wants to “Spread the Wealth” why doesn’t he start, using his own wealth ,with his half brother who was found living impoverished in a shanty town on less than a dollar a month , over in Kenya. see article http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,24224774-2,00.html

Marxists will say and do anything to get your money and get their power. If Obama wanted to “help the least among us” he and Murthat the traitor could start with Obama’s brother.

Thank you for your comment, that so many of us unenlightened appreciate. Please inform your Fox “allstars”, that a long standing, former military conservative is beginning to think of them as a bunch of sissies. They seem to want to kiss up to Mr. Obama rather than state a opinion based on fact, not his “cool” factor that I look at as more arrogance than cool. By the way, as a musician of many years, even many of my young friends of both races find me cool. It’s earned with acheivement. What has Mr. Cool ever achieved on his own?

If he were my Congressman I would be looking to remove him from office, and maybe even a way to prosecute a lawsuit if possible. At the very least I would be loooking to give some money to whoever is running against him.

Don’t worryabout being afraid to comment on what he said about our servicemen and women. There are enough of us out here that did serve. John Murtha wouldn’t make a good pimple on a privates butt!

Comment by Geoff macPherson

It bothers me a bit that polls say that 97% of Black Americans are voting for Obama. Is it because he’s black? Is that racist? If 97% of whites voted for McCain, would that be racist?

I once had to sit through a lecture that proclaimed that minorities can not be racist by definition but that whites are by virtue of their skin color. Doesn’t sound like there’s much hope for us, does there?

Please park your logic at the door.

Comment by Bruce H.

He folks, when you read “joe’s” comments, these are classic Obama supporter speak.

Remember the rules when dealing with Obama supporters. They will say and do ANYTHING to hush the truth. Proclaiming racism and trying to make you feel ignorant are there primary methods. The dottering old fool Jack Murtha is a poster boy for this type of behaviour.

OBAMA supporters are made up primarily of those who: a) have money coming from the government cookie jar and don’t want to loose it, b) those who are MARXISTS and are willing to destroy everything that has made this nation great in order to gain the power that will allow them to experiment with their own ideas of how things should be run, and c) those who are just angry and unhappy with life.

OBAMA and his handlers want YOU the average American, to be broke spiritually, financially, emotionally, toally dependent on the government, and powerless to do anything about it, in order for them gain and keep power. They very effectivly control the type A and C supporters mentioned above to achieive that goal. bama supporter comments, keep this in mind when you read him:

Mr. Moody,

Thank you via comments on Congressman Murtha.

I am a retired Navy corpsman. I served in Vietnam with the Marines and I hold them with the highest regard. “They are my brothers”. There is an old saying, “Once a Marine, always a Marine”….
Congressman Murtha is not a Marine. He may have served wearing the uniform at one time, but no Marine would besmirch his fellow Marines without proof of their actions. He did just that about our Marine heroes in Iraq, and when they were exonerated, he refused to come forward with an apology. Congressman Murtha… you have not lived up to the motto of the Corps. Semper Fidelis.
Until you apologized to these heroic young Marines,

YOU ARE NOT A MARINE.

I live in Florida, but I’m one of those folks who clings to their guns and religion and as far as whether there’s any racial bias in your area of Pennsylvania I don’t know however I believe that 90% or better of the black population who will be voting across the nation will be voting for Senator Obama.

Except for possibly…JOE THE PLUMBER.
The old American dream used to be: If you work real hard the sky is the limit as to how much you can earn, but if Senator Obama gets elected then the new dream will be:
If I work real hard then I can make up to $250,000 before the government steps in and redistributes the rest to those who may not have as much. (Redistribution — – — Socialism).

Didn’t you at one time suggests that Senator McCain was too old to be in politics?
Maybe it’s time to follow some of your own advice.

Mr. Moody,
Thank you for being our voice in the wilderness.
God bless America

Let’s get out the Republicans, the Independents, and the Blue Dog Democrats.

AND unlike what the ACORN organization is trying to do, Lets Legally elect our team!!!

John Murtha you are a DISGRACE. I am ashamed to know that you were a Marine, I believe that we as Marines should hold ourselves out as role models and not as you have.

Mr Moody,

THANK YOU for having the guts to say what millions of us have been thinking. Murtha and his ilk use their service to our country to cloak their despicable actions. What a sad legacy to leave at the end of the day!

Well put Mr. Moody

I’m a 30 year retired navy vet and John is at best, a loser trying to garner favors if Obama wins. There is racism on both sides of the color spectrium. And I, for one, am tired of being called a racist because I will vote based on policies and experience not empty promises of a chicken in every pot. Does this mean that If people of color who vote for Obama simply because of his color, are finally going to be called racist by John or sen. Lewis. Somehow I don’t see that as happening either. So don’t wait to long for John to say he’s sorry for his racist remark, cause it ain’t coming!!!!!!!
