Sarah Palin, McCain’s Secret Weapon, Wins the Debate

Palin won the debate because she exceeded expectations and connected with the American people on a personal level, but neither candidate crushed the other. I’m also not convinced either one reached out to sway the critical undecided voter. Governor Palin breathed life into the McCain campaign and rectified public opinion about her competency, which was crucial. Republicans, heave a sigh of relief.
Palin’s strengths: Using Biden’s own words about Obama and McCain against him. Brilliant. She was able to relate to a majority of Americans and her body language was honest, warm and direct. Like Obama, she spoke directly to the American people and came off much more likeable than her opponent. Unlike Hillary she has the gift of appearing shrewd without being shrill.
Palin’s weakness: Failing to tell Americans the real deal on the housing crisis.
Republicans are tiptoeing around this issue in order to avoid being called politically incorrect. It was a missed opportunity to go after the Democrats and their insistence to protect Freddie and Fannie and belief that every man, woman, child, dog and goldfish should own their own home even if they cannot afford it.
Best line (with regard to the fiscal crisis): “Never again.”
Biden’s strength: He’s polished, as anyone would be after spending the last three decades in the Senate. There is no question his handle on foreign policy is exceptional. He’s smooth and a much better liar than Palin. Practice makes perfect, I suppose.
Biden’s weakness: He is completely divorced from honesty. Either he knows he’s lying and doesn’t care or he isn’t aware and is just plain ill informed. His body language was off-putting. Like McCain he appeared angry and contemptuous. That phony smile is nauseating. Senator: watch a tape of Palin and Obama for pointers.
Worst line: “Listen folks.” That’s what I call nuclear condescension.
She and McCain seem to relish in the underdog role and have the ability to deliver when the stakes are sky high. Though many cast doubt, I’ve called Palin McCain’s secret weapon since the day he selected her. Tonight she proved the secret’s out.

Someone earlier thought that Carl was the Moderator and that was why the messages kept coming in ever more frequent redundant fashion. True, just about every other comment had more merit than Carl’s slanted drivel… but I digress…. You see Carl actually is dead and his head… err gluteus maximus (with emphasis on max) landed on the computer keyboard and continues right up to this very hour to hit the enter button (and every other button as well) on his computer. Apparently he was trying to extracate himself from his chair when the event occurred… certainly he will be missed by the moderator… but by no one else as he was a complete and utter loser without a pulse above the waist. The jerking motion of his maximus is the true cause of the perpetual postings. Now you all know… the rest of the story.
Will Palin quit when she’s found to have abused her power as governor of Alaska? Or will she have her tailor fashion a short jacket and skirt BLACK and WHITE stripped?
Marco…GMAF(frickin)B…you’re so LEFT leaning you talked yourself into a circle. She’s received more hard and bad press in 2 months than Obamessiah has in 2 years! Get over yourself…
Susan…my apologies…it was a “joke”…it didn’t happen.
listen first of all I am neither Democrat or Republican, neither conservative or liberal. I am an independent thinking human being that dose not subscribe to any political party! However I would like to say that the 2008 presidential election has turned into a dull and boring contest. Gov. Palin in my opinion is a rather attractive woman, very classy and feminine. She is a governor, however regarding her intellect it seems to me she is very limited in that department. So what if I offended you Republican types! The woman Says she is a pit bull with lipstick, (Hockeymom). A pit bull terrier is a very aggresive dog sometimes with a propencity for violence. Now why is it that this woman likens her self as a baracuda and a pitbull but her GOP handlers want the press to handle her with kid gloves? Hypocrites! you cant have it both ways losers!
mopone,
In response to your comment:
JUDY,
Yes Clinton left the economy in decent shape…but it was his failure to get tough on terrorists that emboldened 9-11 attack. And because of that our economy took a hit, most of America wanted war,
wars are costly
I agree with you whole-heartedly that wars are costly. And in more ways than one. Which is why we need to think before we act. Have a real plan… have an exit strategy. Let’s learn from history so we’re not doomed to repeat it. I’m not suggesting that Bill Clinton is the final standard for which we should base any of our presidential votes on. But, a fact is a fact. We had a balanced budget and a surplus. I have no dispute with the Bush administration for going in to Afghanistan. This is where we should have concentrated all of our resources. Most of America wanted the war with Iraq because we were duped into believing there was a “threat”. Had we not rushed to war with Iraq, the shaky so-called evidence could have been brought to the attention of the American people much sooner and the total “cost” (both in money and in lives) might have been averted. There is all this talk in this presidential race of who will be ready on day 1. I submit that George W. Bush was certainly not ready on day 1. He wasn’t ready 8 months later on 9/11. He wasn’t ready 5 years later when Katrina hit. And now we are facing the biggest economic crisis in years. Are all of these major incidents that have occurred under the Bush administration just a coincidence?

I just read you again and realized that the car receiving the ticket was not yours! Doh
Now if that car belonged to someone in the Palin family that cop would probably have lost his job!
Does it worry you that the person receiving those tickets might in fact be someone suffering terribly by your
economy and be looking for a different outcome? Do you wonder if that person cannot retire because they have lost all their retirement funds? The car might belong to someone like my Daughter who has moved to the other side of the country to earn higher wages. She is married with a child. She has a mortgage here $1800 a month plus water and land rates, Rent there $1300 a month plus utilities, Childcare $2000 a month (50% refundable) General living expenses which are very high. She does not eat meat but does eat fish. Salmon there is $37 a kg. Red Emperor $55 a kg etc. She can’t afford that. Lots of pasta. Her husband is a driver and is not on a high income and even though she has two University degrees, her pay is not terribly high either. A traffic
misdemeanor would really hurt them financially and points would be deducted from her Driver’s License which would not be good because she drives a lot with her job.
I hope you call the City Violations Office and let them know what you did.
It was not really very kind. (funny … but definitely not kind!)
Susan
Speaking of being a retiree…
People frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting.
Well, for example, the other day I went downtown and into a shop. I was only there for about 5 minutes, and when I came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. I said to him, ‘Come on, man, how about giving a retired person a break’?
He ignored me and continued writing the ticket.
I called him a ‘Nazi.”
He glared at me and wrote another ticket for having worn tires.
So I called him a ‘ donut eating Gestapo.’
He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he wrote a third ticket.
This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him the more tickets he wrote.
Personally, I didn’t care. I came downtown on the bus, and the car that he was putting the tickets on had a bumper sticker that said, ‘Obama in ‘08.’
I try to have a little fun each day now that I’m retired. It’s important to my health.
Hi Susan,
I too respect good and FAIR debate…and while I am a conservative person I must admit early on I thought Obama was interesting and maybe someone I could vote for…a year (almost) and many unanswered questions later, watching a media that has never before been so one sided (pro Obama), and then the typical liberal issues I have problems with (abortion/religion/etc…)…I find I can only support McCain.
I respect your perspective…As a retired military man…I have problems with the evasion of questions and associations that would have never passed a security clearance from a man who wants to be Commander and Chief…President of the country.
Just because he says “change” over and over…I have not heard sound substance nor seen a clear history that this man’s words will match his actions should he be given the most powerful position in the world. He has been given a teflon pass on basic questions that most americans and certainly all nominee’s for President should answer fully…blaming GWB is a scapegoat answer and a polically expedient way of evading the issues.
Hi CWN
and we need to
I can see that you are very emotional about this whole debate. I feel sad that you believe that some outrageous
behavior by someone when Obama was 8 years old somehow reflects on his integrity today. Get a grip on yourself mate. You can vote for whom ever you like. If you are absolutely thrilled about the state of your country, the way it has been run over the past 8 years and are looking forward to more of the same… then that is your prerogative. Fortunately we both live in Democratic Countries (although the Bail Out of some of those companies seems quite Socialistic to me?) and we are all entitled to our opinions. We look at the Facts and then make a decision on what we hope will be the right one for not only ourselves but also our children and future generations. We want other countries to look upon ours and say … ‘Hey … That’s the sort of country I wish ours was like!’ The world is getting smaller, dirtier (with pollution and some rhetoric
be …. all of us … the best human beings we can be. Don’t get too upset and take things too personally. When the election is over hopefully both sides can accept the decision of the majority and work together because at
the end of the day I am sure we all want the same things. Strong debate is the sign of a very healthy democracy. Lets be thankful for forums like this where we have freedom of expression … Many countries aren’t so lucky. Take Care and May the Best Team Win! Go Obama!
Regards Susan
My dear JimmyF…I didn’t know whether to laugh or vomit at you excessive bloviating (Thanks O’Riley)…Obama doesn’t remember where he came from…he became an elitist…quite frankly it would take a genetisist to tell me why he calls himself black instead of white…ah but who cares…He’s a smooth talker, snake oil sales man who came from nowhere but the extreme Liberal womb of Ayers, Farikan (sp), Wright, and others molded him…supported him…and sold him to the left leaning media and the emotionally driven liberal public. All of the people on these boards comparing Mrs. Palin to Obama still don’t get it…she’s much more qualified to be VP than he is to be President…I’ve listened to you denegrating of her and wonder what your highly emotional knee jerk reactions would be if the conservatives had treated and demeaned a woman candidate so personally and attacked her in ways no decent human beings would begin to…yet you are the Party of the underdogs…the minorities,…NAACP…and NOW!
So you don’t like the way she looks…the ways she talks…she makes a mistake or two…but many of us can relate and understand…we can’t relate to the LIARS called Biden and OBAMA…it must be an intellectual thing?
I am an Australian and was very interested to watch the VP debate.
It reinforced for me that the world needs Obama to win this election. I believe that the USA which was fairly well respected as the Fair and Democratic World Sheriff is now a sad socially and financially depleted country. It is pouring Billions of dollars into two wars whilst the Average American person is suffering terribly. Bush calls himself a Christian so when 911 happened perhaps he ought to have turned the other cheek. Poured those Trillions of dollars into creating jobs with better conditions and hospitals for his people and arming up against those creepy terrorists. The path he chose has not made the world more secure … it is worse. Was nothing learned from Vietnam?
I think the continuation of Republican policies will be the end for the US. Watch out for Russia! We need a very strong USA to stand up to Putin who seems to hanker for the ‘Good Old (cold war) Days. Very scary.
I can`t believe people are sucked in by Sarah Palin and her downhome, cutey, flirty, winking very embarrassing
mannerisms. Reminds me of someone trying to win a Miss World contest … ‘Miss Congeniality’?
I wish the American People the very best and I believe that will be Obama.
VBest Wishes Susan
As an independent Palin did nothing to win me over on the McCain/Palin ticket and really she pushed me away with some of her incorrect statements and statements about EXPANDING the role of the Vice President. Also, it made me do a double take when she did not even acknowledge Biden when he told the story of his first wife’s death and dealing with that. It appeared it was not in her “script” and she didn’t know how to handle it. Add the fact she have didn’t have the ability to deviate from the scripted canned answers and that she wants to expand her role as VP it really doesn’t bode well for McCain/Palin getting this independent’s vote.
Hey Jimmy F are you single, I like that your so smart like Obama:) blow a kiss to you
Maria, where do you get that McCain is not pro-life? If you check his voting record, he has voted prof-life every single time on these issues. And it was not brought up at the debate because the moderator did not ask about it. Palin had no control over the questions. And this is to all of you who keep bleating about her not answering the questions. Specifically, what question did she not answer? Please tell me that.
Did you watch the same debate I did? Don’t you think that you need to ANSWER the questions asked of you in a debate in order to WIN it? This seems like, at best, a rudimentary condition of the debate process.
I think the only people Palin won over tonight were rich, suburban white women who were too inebriated during the debate to closely follow the line of reasoning put forth by the debaters (or, in Palin’s case, the lack therof).
I was impressed at the beginning regarding Sarah Palin. Trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, she just does not cut it. I know feel Obama/Biden in meetings will have more substance than McCain/Palin would in meetings of national security, etc. McCain reasoning in choosing her is becoming more and more stressful. Tim Pawlenty would have been a much better choice.
Sarah is awesome!!
i am an independent and this time i am going for Obama; last 8 yrs has been a mess. it is clear that mcain is acting quite a bit desperate. teh independents in the battleground states are heavily leaning towards Obama. republicans, thank W and Mcain for making it clear to independents that Obama is indeed the right choice this time !
The media is not reporting on any of Biden’s (customary) gaffes. Hezbollah was in Lebanon and part of the government way before Israel went in and the Iraq war. Hamas had taken Gaza and is not a duly elected government…Fatah is (although Hamas does endorse Barack Obama). Palin was correct, the Vice President is president of the Senate and effects both the executive and legislative branches..Biden also mistated the Article..it’s Article II not I. Biden made numerous other falsehoods…none of which have been reported by the mainstream media. Granted Palin could have pulled Biden up on them but his errors were so numerous it was hard to keep up with them. It’s clear the mainstream media is doing all it can to see Obama in the whitehouse. I only hope that the people of this country understand how dangerous he’ll be for this country. NEVER in it’s history has the kinds of bigger government, more taxes, bigger spending policies he’s offering ever been effective in an economy like this. In fact, the greater taxes policies have always deepened a recession or depression. Added to that, we’re probably going to see a greater number Democrat house and senate…with Obama in the whitehouse, historically, this lack of checks and balances has been disastrous in the past. I truly hope McCain can make the country see these in tomorrow’s debate.
To Jimmy F,
I guess I am one more “dumb” person on your list.
I have a PHD in Mathematics and I am voting republican.
Ah……….OK…………….It must just be me………….Let me enlighten a few that thought Palin won because she exceeded one of the lowest expectation ever for a VP debate. I knew this guy….a very likable guy……down to earth….quick with the smart remarks….but wasn’t too bright…. I love drinking with the guy…….but I don’t think he can be VP of the US…. I wouldn’t trust the guy to lead me….but trust the guy enough to be friends….I think everyone knows somebody like this.
With this thought in mind……didn’t we elect the dumbest President in history the past 8 yrs, because we connected with him. If this is the premiss for voting on a candidate, I think America is in trouble again…Lets spin this a little bit, just look at where you were 8 yrs ago, and look at where you are now…..and if that is too hard to do, look at your friends and family………My point is I don’t think a lot of us expected to be where we are now………because it looked promissing 8 yrs ago…..And if you can still defend the republican regime, then you really need to get out the house more.
I think America is tired of dumb and dumber to lead us again.
SERIOUSLY?? She won??
Okay, I’ll agree that she did okay. I’ll agree with she made it through the night without any huge gaffes. But won? That is the biggest stretch I’ve heard since Thursday.
The woman CLEARLY was speaking from memorized talking points. If Gwen asked a question she did not have a memorized answer for, she didnt’ answer it! And talked about something else!
I don’t know what Americans she supposedly connected with because she didn’t connect with me as I am not a hockey mom, do not hang out with “Joe six-packs” (whoever they are) and don’t respond well to winking and over-the-top folksiness.
Biden, however, did an excellent job and demonstrated a clear understanding of all of the issues. And on top of that, showed EXTREME restraint by not attacking her obvious question-dodging and mistakes along the way. He is the reason she supposedly “did well”. He allowed her to get away with it.
So, yes. Sarah did a great job of reading off her memorized lines. But this woman is dangerously ill-equipped to hold any office in Washington, much less the second most important position in the most powerful country in the world. And everybody knows it. Including her. They’re using her as a puppet and I think its a shame.
Wasted a vote on the Dems in 2006, not wasting another one. Didn’t do what they said they would and made a big mess of things. With a majority in both houses they still couldn’t find their nose with both hands.
To JimmyF and a few others:
First of all to be an elitist does not require a large bank account or a fat pocket book. The definition of elitism is “the belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.” You sir, by your own admission, are an elitist and unfortunately an elitist of the worst sort. You put down others for a perceived lack of intelligence which you believe is through no fault of their own, “their born that way”. You ‘logic’ is not only pathetic, it is moronic. To put down others, to look down on them, to judge them or to belittle them because of a condition they have no control over is known by the names of racism, sexism, foolish and a host of others. I would suggest you look in the mirror first and use your superior intellect and reason to judge what you see if you intend on holding to your flawed definition and judgemental attitudes.
Secondly, I invite you to do a little reading of Obama’s tax returns for the last 3 years. The Obama combined declared income FAR exceeds that of the Palin’s. If money is the qualifier for elitism then Obama has that tied up hands down over Palin. Further, his mother did not get food stamps because 1) they lived in Indonesia and she was married 2) his grandparents supported him when he lived with them in Hawaii. His mother had a good job when she was single with the World Bank in their micro-business loans area.
Some of the things that have turned me off to the Obama/Biden ticket is Obama’s complete lack of holding to any position except “change” and his refusal to step into the fray (ie: the Bailout Bickering last week) as his position as a U.S. Senator requires. He is a Senator first, then a candidate. If he can’t do both of those things or set his campaign aside to attend to the “economic crises” he says we are having it makes one wonder what he is capable of. He missed more votes while campaigning than McCain and Clinton combined. Another is Biden’s admission that he plans to be PONTUS by proxy. Before going on the ticket with Obama he was adament that he did not want to be V.P. THEN at the debate he stated that he “would be sitting in the room with Obama on every decision.” Sounds like neither he nor Obama is comfortable with Obama going it alone.
The last thing that has me leaning towards McCain/Palin is the hate and venom spewed by the left and Demcrats. I am appalled that people who claim to be tolerant and lovers of free speech attack others so horribly and wish they would die or say they are a worthless piece of life because they have differing opinions. Come on people, we are Americans and we an disagree without slaughtering each other.
For those of you ignorant, blind followers who truly believe that Palin won the debate:
You are the reason America is the laughing stock of the world. You are the uninformed who prefer “folksy” to actual inteligence and competence. You are the reason this country has suffered 8 years of Bush, and possibly another 4 of the same because you buy into the repulsive Rebublican antics that distract you by instilling fear rather than educating you on what’s important. These lying war mongers continue to dance around questions and divert the voter’s attention by using words like “terrorist attacks”, “God”, “As the mother of a special needs child”, “maverick”.
This repugnant woman could string together a group of babbling incoherent words, but follow it up with a reference to 9/11, and you pathetic disgraces would bow down. Palin is a puppet used in a failed attempt to capture the female vote. Unfortunately for the decrepit McCain and morally deficient Rove, informed woman with an education beyond the 9th grade should see through this transparent attempt and entertaining puppet show. It also renders the Republican’s redundant claim that “Obama is inexperienced” a complete joke.
Open your eyes!!! You are an embarrassment to the country!
I heard, some republicans will just go with a flow.
Even though they know that McCain/Palin are not qualified
to lead this country, they’re going to vote for the lesser of
two evils.Baal,I guess is lesser evil than Dagon.
Vote for Baal!!!!!!and Dyezebel!!!!!!!
Palin was a cheerleader; Biden was a good debater and leader.
Palin acted like a beauty pageant contestant.
Biden acted like a president during the debate.
Palin doesn’t know about diplomacy.
Is it just me or do others agree that Obama is being very hypocritical when he states that McCain is playing underhandedly by accusing Obama of guilt-by-association to terrorist Aires, Wright, Acorn, Antoin ‘Tony’ Rezko, Robert Malley, etc., etc.? After all, Obama has spent his entire campaign accusing McCain of guilt-by-association to Bush and Cheny. In my opinion, Obama needs to remove the log from his own eye before accusing McCain of having a splinter in his.
Don E. - Florida
I was wondering , in the VP debate, abortion or life issue wasn’t mentioned.
You know why,Palin would stumble with this issue because McCain is not prolife.
Biden did a good job in defending Obama,Palin did a sloppy job in defending McCain.
I don’t think it is a question of who won the debate… that is up to your own filter. Democrats will say Biden, Republicans, as evidenced with your blog entry, will say Palin. The question is, who moved the independents. Most of the polls showed a slight move to Obama after the debate. So, from what actually counts, which is the election, the Obama campaign won the debate because Palin was unable to change the trajectory of the independents.
For me, what was more telling about the two was how they both answered the same questions in the Katie Couric interviews. These were unscripted and you could get a sense of how each think. Check it out for yourself at The PoliTalk Blog.
In general, both campaigns need to step up specifics. With the recent $700 billion bailout package passing, the next President will have some serious fiscal constraints unless they plan on growing the deficit even more.

Since Jan 2007 interest rates are up, foreclosures are up, unemployment is up, gas is up, business closings are up. Remember that was when Pope Pelosi said that in 100 days the democrates would have everything fixed since they control both houses of congress. Now we have the bailout. After all this Pope Pelosi is telling us what God really ment to say. These are enough reasons to vote republican.
Palin clearly won the debate.
A lot of topics were covered except abortion.
The finest health and education systems, the fairest immigration laws, and the soundest economy do nothing for the child who never sees the light of day!
It is a tragic irony that ‘pro-choice’ candidates have come to support homicide – the gravest injustice a society can tolerate – in the name of ‘social justice’.
Abortion is the civil rights issue of our generation.
Palin and McCain have the life issues right.
Palin clearly won the debate.

Governor Palin did an outstanding job at the debate. She was genuine and honest. She was herself and those of you who look down on her because of the way she speaks and the phrases she uses are elite snobs who either have never lived anywhere else in their life or just don’t like people who are different than themselves.
Where is it written that a President and/or Vice President have to be snobbish Washington elite insiders? Maybe that is what is wrong with our Government today… it is full of elite snobs who have been there far too long that they have no idea what it is like to be just a regular guy. I believe the Senate should have term limits no longer than two terms (8 years) and then they should have to go back and live amongst their constituents and be reminded what it is like to be just a regular hardworking American.
Governor Palin was refreshing and I felt she was speaking from the heart and not just saying what she thinks people what to hear…. unlike Obama who changes his stance on important issues like the wind changes directions.
Comment to Bruce,
Alaska is just fine thank you very much. It is far from the mess you claim it to be and much better off since Gov. Palin cleaned it up from corruption. There is much we don’ t know about Obama.. maybe he should go back to Chicago where he feels more comfortable associating with radicals like Bill Ayers, Tony Resko, and Reverand Wright. Maybe he can explain to us why he feels so comfortable with these types of people. When is the last time you associated with a known terrorist…?? Bill Ayers is still a terrorist even if it was 40 years ago. Would you be comfortable if your son or daughter came home with someone you knew had bombed the Pentagon? Would you question their judgment in friends and/or associates? Didn’t you ever teach your children that they are defined by the friends they keep?
You can point fingers back at Sarah Palin all you want. I can guarantee she does not have the radical or questionable associates in her past that Obama has.
The world is cooperate… …. NOT corporate…. and what do you know about the investigation except what you read or hear from the liberal media? Try thinking for yourself for a change.
Lastly, Governor Palin did not use her personal email to conduct Governor business… that is just what the liberal media wants you to think. There is no evidence whatsover that she used it for anything other than personal emailing…. with family and friends… some friends of which may also work with her…but they did in no way conduct business. Haven’t you ever written an email to someone you work with who may also be your friend on your personal email? Do your own research on any of these subjects above and I guarantee you will find out that the media lies and twists these stories just for people like you who only believe what they hear and don’t bother to find out the truth for themselves.
Mike in Florida. How is it that you’re qualified to suggest someone use a spell checker, bonehead. The contraction for do not is don’t, not do’nt. (you put the apostrophe where you leave out the letter) Also “the situation were in now” should read “the situation we’re in now”, as in “we are”. Apparently your IQ is smaller than your shoe size.
And let’s not mention the fact that Obama is friends with terrorists and stayed in a church for 20 years that he claims not to support their views. If that’s true, he’s pretty stupid himself. I believe the reason is that he actually believes, supports and endorses their views, which makes him unfit to kiss the feet of a real American. If he wins the election, and I pray that he doesn’t, (notice where I put the apostrophe for future reference) we will see a side of him that will set America on the fastest downhill slide it has ever seen!
DJ,I feel bad that your so ignorant. That’s a nice way to say your stupid, in case you did’nt know what it meant. Do you capitalize all your letters because you don’t which ones need to be capitalized. And just a quick note, I don’t use spell check. If you were’nt so ignorant, refer back to stupid, I misspelled embarrass. But how would you know that. By the way, my comment about you being a human sheild was’nt a joke.
How could a college educated ‘political commentator’ say with a straight face that Palin out debated Biden.
It really beggars belief listening to GOP operatives and strategists on the talk shows just how totally and COMPLETELY out of touch they are with common sense opinion.
Palin was AWFUL. She did not participate in the debate and tried unsucessfully to hijack the proceedings.
Anway to more curent isssues. If the McCain Campaign want to sling mud and rely on gutter politics then the gloves should come off from the other side to. Let me give a couple of examples.. I’m sure McCain does NOT want to go down this route:
1. Keating and the S and L crisis.
2. Cindi MCacain’s drug addiction history. ( The American people have a right to know if a prospective first lady is vulnerable to a relapse which in turn could affect her husbands job performance) and his intervening with prosecutors on her behalf
3. His health.
4. His REAL Vietnam record as quoted by fellow vets who served with him.
5. His association with members of the Bonano crime family.
And the list goes on and on and on …………..
If I were McCain I would switch to talking about issues and not irrelevant BS..
Andrea Tantaros should be fired for putting out a commentary like this.
I bet when she applied for a job at FOXNEWS she didn’t put on her resume that she is JOE SIXPACK AMERICAN, HOCKEY MOM, or say DOG GONE IT and YOU BETCHA during her interview. These are terms Sarah Palin used during the debate. These debates are job interviews. Throw on top of that the fact she answered the moderators questions with recited talking points often off topic.
If I was the moderator, I would have stopped the debate when Palin stated she is JOE SIXPACK AMERICAN and given her a ride to AA.
Palin knew a lot of kids where watching. SHE TELLING THEM IT IS OK TO BE A DRUNK. MADD needs to get involved and put out an ad against Palin’s garbage. She lost this debate hands down.
TO-MIKE LAKE WORTH FLORIDA.IMAGINE HOW MANY ERRORS PEOPLE WOULD SEE IN YOUR WRITINGS IF YOU DIDNT HAVE SPELL CHECK.YOU HIDE BEHIND YOUR COMPUTER PROGRAM TO SHOW PEOPLE HOW BRIGHT YOU ARE,JUST AS OBAMA HIDES HIS PAST SO PEOPLE WONT SEE HIM FOR WHAT HE IS.OBAMA IS SMART BUT YOU ARE AN IIIIIIDIOT.SPELL THAT HOW YOU WANT .PLEASE GO BACK TO CNN OR MSNBC FOR YOUR OPINIONS,THEY WILL AGREE WITH YOUR PATHETIC VIEWS OF THIS COUNTRY.MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS JERK-OFF.
Bottom line - Sarah Palin kicks ass and takes names, that’s what we need in the White House.
John McCain has fought for America and has the experience to run this country and protect us from our enemies. WHICH IS MOST IMPORTANT - if we are not safe - WE DIE!!
Our enemies want us to elect Obama, why? You tell me.
He hangs out with terrorists and sits in Racist churches for 20 years….
He is ACORN - just do a search on OBAMA AND ACORN…..see what you get.
Wake up you democrats, quit turning a blind eye to the fact that Obama is a BIG reason for this countrys’ debt. He is an idiot and has no experience as far I can find….and he’s scared now.
GOOD
McCain/Palin 2008 ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE WE GO!
America will not vote in a shady unqualified racist, who does not appear to be patriotic one bit! LOL
DJ from Georgia, are you stupid or were you in some kind of accident that damaged your brain. Between you and KG your comments are so ignorant I do’nt know how to respond. And PLEASE get the program spell check, you embarass yourself. Please stop commenting. You hurt your cause with your mindless ranting. And for the record, I’m neither far right or far left as a political stance. Most Americans are somewhere in the the middle. The extreme positions that poeple take are what got us in the situation were in now. Somehow I think this comment is lost on you though.
I see many people in this forum lack concrete intelligence and, as a result, will never be capable of absorbing and understanding the basic logical statements that I will make no matter how hard their brain attempts to do so. Some comments come from the brains of people more pathetic than any I’ve seen in recent memory. Barack Obama grew up on foodstamps as he was raised fatherless by a poor single mother - somehow your brain perceives this as “elite”. Either you know nothing about his history and how he grew up, or you are stupid - it’s one or the other. Given his history and where he came from, to call him anything remotely close to an “elitist” speaks volumes about your perception. I cannot respect people who lack intelligence. I understand that intelligence is something one is born with, and they have no control over it. Because of this, I should not fault them for it - but I do. It is wrong for me to look down on people for lacking intelligence, but I cannot control myself. I’ve been like this since birth. When I see people who speak without any logic in their statements, or cannot perceive things that are so blatantly obvious, it clearly shows me that they have a low IQ and below-average intelligence and I cannot and do not respect them for that. I’ve spoken with hundreds of my friends in e-mails and in real life who nearly all are middle-class common people and not a single one of them buys into the act that Palin is putting on. You call her middle-class and think she can relate to you after she made $200,000 last year and has a net worth of over a MILLION dollars? Oh, wow, yes, she is most certainly middle class! Her tax returns were released. Go look at them. You tell me if you think that’s middle class. Something, perhaps your history, tells me that you will not be able to see this though. Palin is one of the worst actresses and biggest phonies I have ever witnessed in my life. “Never in the history of the US has there been a candidate so unprepared, uninformed, and inept as Sarah Palin” - that is a QUOTE from the most prominent, respected conservative Republicans in the country shortly after McCain’s selection. To witness her blatant stupidity in numerous interviews and somehow perceive that she can relate to you is a joke to me. Every intelligent person I know that is middle class has spent a good deal of time explaining to me that after watching that debate that there is no possible way they could ever walk in that voting booth and vote for somebody so disgustingly embarrassing to the Republican party. Calling her an embarrassment is an understatement. McCain chose her solely to try to win over some of the undecided and some of the ex-Hillary voters and women voters, and it backfired on him as soon as these women realized how pathetic Palin really is. The only people who bought into McCain’s people are the men and women who are not intelligent enough to perceive this - many of you being a prime example. Fortunately, there are much more intelligent and perceptive men and women who are great judges of character who see right through Palin’s act. I know this because I talk to them regularly, and when I read posts in forums and blogs, these same women come up with LOGIC and REASONING in their posts to explain why they will never vote for Palin. They come up with statements infinitely more intelligent than “She’s able to sit at a kitchen table and takl..” - are you kidding me? So are you saying that you would be intimidated if Barack sat at your kitchen table and spoke with you on the issues? Is he too sophisticated for you? Apparently that’s exactly what you’re saying. Palin could sit and talk with you about issues, but Biden and Obama can’t? And you think you can “relate” to her - is that a reason to vote someone into President? Because you can RELATE to her? Why don’t you take into consideration factors like “intelligence”, which, by the way, is the key element in determining how well a President will do according to history. Intelligent Presidents always help the country - dumb ones always ruin the country (last 8 years are a perfect example of this historical fact). McCain is stupid - he graduated 894 out of 899 in his class at the Naval Academy. Knowing the intellgence many of you lack, you’ll completely ignore such a crucially embarrassing statistic that is a huge indicator that he will do infinitely worse than Bush. NOBODY who graduated that low in any class should be even able to run as a potential nominee, let alone the head candidate. McCain and Palin are stupid and lack intelligence. As President, you must make incredibly important decisions that are both very complex and intricate and take a plethora of intellect to come up with a solution for - this is a fact. I think you would agree that intelligence is a vital element then? McCain has admitted he doesn’t know anything about the economy. Palin has exhibited her stupidity to infinity and beyond. There’s nothing left to say - if they should ever become President, this country will be 1000x worse than it ever was. As the middle-class, you should be able to see something so obvious. I understand your lack of intelligence prevents you from doing so, but you should really try.
Never has there been a more pitiful performance than Palin’s memorized verbatim. Does Fox News that 90% of their viewers watch them just to laugh at the pathetically biased robots that they put on to inaccurately analyze each side? I, as was every single person I’ve spoken to since Thursday, was sincerely embarrassed for Fox News while watching their post-debate coverage and their “non-biased” focus group. Labeling it disgustingly pathetic is a generous understatement and Fox News continues to lose the respect of millions of Americans by continuing to live up to its laughable reputation. Because Palin didn’t embarrass herself to a pitiful degree as she has done every single time she’s spoken in the past few weeks, she won? HAHA. Unfortunately, not embarrassing herself for the umpteenth time is not what this debate was about. This debate was about being VP, and she couldn’t advance one argument that would lead any intelligent person to believe she’s ready to be the 2nd most important person in the world. As the CEO of a multifaceted, multimillion dollar corporation, I’m in touch with dozens of highly intelligent, successful and knowledgeable people on a daily basis, and not a single one of them, including plenty of Republicans, has even a minimal amount of respect or faith in Palin.
Andrea Tantaros, you are so incredibly dumb that I truly pity you. The fact that you wrote such blatantly unperceptive remarks suggests that you just lack natural-born intelligence, something you will never be able to acquire. You will remain dumb and will continue to be oblivious to it. But part of being stupid is that you don’t realize you’re stupid - it’s like trying to explain color to someone who was born blind. You typify what it means to be an oblivious, laughable robot who will say and do anything, regardless of how dishonest and sleazy it is, to try and sway people into jumping on the GOP side. Every single thing you wrote in Biden’s “weaknesses” is what every single American attributed to Palin throughout the entire debate - the fact that you mixed something so blatantly obvious up typifies your lack of intelligence.
I cannot wait until November 4th when Obama wins by a mile. As Fox News shows, there are plenty of dumb people all over the country, but I have faith that there are more perceptive people that see right through McCain and Palin’s pitiable false aspirations.

You summed up this election to a T. I was sorry to hear about Biden’s mother-in-law but have to admit my mind started thinking along the same lines about Hillary etc.
It’s good to read atleast one good thing written about Bush. He deserves credit for keeping the terrorists from hitting us again. Too bad no one remembers him wanting to drill here 8 yrs ago. Imagine that! Even less remember him trying to bring attention to FannieMae and FreddiMac.
McCain seemed to be a shaky nominee for President at first, but he has been steadily gaining ground as Obama’s credibility diminishes. Although his handlers did an admirable job creating what looked like a unique candidate for the Dems, Obama has proven to be his worst enemy just by being himself. NOBODY, and I DO mean nobody likes miscues or errors in judgment in their past to be thrown in their face, so I understand why he does not want his affiliation with radicals, terrorists and other anti-American individuals to be brought to the fore at this fragile time in his campaign. What’s past is past, in most cases and I’m sure he would like this to go away as soon as possible to stop the mass exodus of what are now former supporters. However, while I believe there is a hidden agenda in Obama’s head that he has kept hidden from his handlers that would undoubtedly blow up in their faces should he get elected, I am fairly confident that Americans will not allow a defeatist of all that is good with our country to gain the top job in the land. And picking Joe Biden for his running mate? Who put THESE TWO together? Think about it…honestly. Does ANYONE in their right mind think for a nanosecond that these two EVER hung out together, or even GET ALONG?? Really now! They are NOT a team. Obama has an ego problem and BIden is just plain nuts. They WILL implode if elected, and take US with them. I’m NOT going along for the ride. The more I learn about McCain, the better he is as a ‘fit’ to take over the country in January and begin straightening out the problems left behind by Bush AND Clinton (can you say NAFTA?).
Say what you want….on 9/11, if Gore were president, we’d have been FURTHER attacked while we waited for him to get his head out of his posterior end. Thank God Bush was in office. For THAT alone, his candidacy was worth it. Can you imagine if something IMPORTANT came up and we had to wait for Obama?? He is NOT the guy we want running our country. Too arrogant. NO substance. Also, Hillary would not have been much good, either…sorry.
McCain knows what responsibility goes with the job of President. He knows what true freedom means, and how important it is to protect it with every fiber of one’s existence. Additionally, he selected a running mate that shares his courage when defending what is right. Sarah Palin is JUST the breath of fresh air the Republicans AND the rest of us needed in this cluster of an election. She’s got the moxy and the presence to run this country in the face of an emergency WITHOUT having to pander to the old regime (on BOTH sides of the aisle, mind you). She has NO agenda other than to keep out country safe while we gain independence from using foreign oil, and THOSE are good enough reasons to vote for McCain right there.
The only thing that can prevent a McCain/Palin win would be…..and remember you hear it here….if Joe Biden either bows out, or meets some untimely (and Kennedy-like unexplainable) fate, and you-know-who (Hillary) is tapped on the shoulder to take back all the women voters who jumped Obama’s ship. Also, this would be a double blow, as Bill Clinton lured McCain into ‘agreeing’ with him publicly, so that in itself would definitely be gut-punch to the GOP. We’ll see where the ‘mother-in-law” thing goes. Sorry for her death, but if McCain keeps gaining ground, the Dems are going to push a button, just keep watching.
John McCain….keep up the good work and THANK YOU for putting your country first. Sarah Palin….you are going to be President one day. Vice-President is a great place to start. Good luck to you, and you have my sympathy for the lousy treatment you’ve been getting from a majority of the media as well as the Dems. You took the world by storm, and your opponents fear you, because they know YOU’RE the right choice for America. Joe Biden…you pushed and pushed all these years and you came up second fiddle to an embarrassing selection of a Presidential candidate. Better luck next time, and keep your head low. Obama…You are more transparent than you think you are, and an embarrassment to those who believe America is a great place to live, even when the chips are down. YOU would leave us hanging to save yourself.
What Great performance by Palin!!
You betcha!
Sarah just helped Obama on national polls where the lead is spreading now to 8 points (50%-42%)… And that’s not all… On state by state numbers, it looks even worse for the Palin/McCain ticket… Way to go Sarah!

Now Gov. Sarah Palin slammed Sen. Barack Obama’s acquaintance with a former anti-war radical (William Ayers) on Saturday, accusing him of associating “with terrorists who targeted their own country.” The link is clear… Obama was 8 when this nutcase did what he did, and the you will find a clearer connection between Bin laden and Bush than the one described by politician Palin… Check the facts…

I guess if you can’t win with arguments, the political handbook call for personal attacks… what else can McCain resource to? .. Oooh, I know… Obama is a Muslim, “less than white”… and he also said bad things about her teacher in second grade…
Sarah was supposed to help the “white haired old dude” by being “folksy”… Well, she is not helping and she is as political as she can be… Gone are both arguments…
Andrea Tantaros you’ve ot it right! Sarah was awesome!!!
Obama is such a wussy. He tucks tail and starts yelling “wolf” if anyone brings up his lack of experience and his shady background and dealings with known “terrorists”. He has done his share of smear tactics. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. It’s about time someone stood up to let the American people aware of what they are so infatuated with, a first class scam artist. If Obama opens his mouth, he tells a lie. He fears Palin because with or without her folksy talk she’s got him pegged and can do some damage. Sic him Saracuda!!!! Obama can’t even provide a legitimate birth certificate to prove that he was even born in America. He has made the statement himself eluding to being Muslim. He refused to put his hand over his heart for the pledge of allegience. He’s been proven to befriend radicals, terrorist and racist, starting with his wife. WHAT MORE EVIDENCE DO YOU NEED THAT THE MAN IS A SOCIALIST? It’s not that he’s black, it’s because he’s a danger to this country. He’s a slap in the face to my husband that served in the military as well as three children that are military as well along with many other families that have put their lives on the line for this country. Why defend this country with our kids and husbands and wives lives if you are going to turn it over to a terrorist?
Obama and biden have not had too make a sudden decision. It always a committee meeting then a senate meeting. As president they may have to
make 0ne and they would wont be able to.
I understand when the political strategist in the Republican party try make Sarah Palin out to be something she’s not. It’s their job to try to win the office for the Republican party, but to regular people who listens to Sarah Palin you have to realize she is not prepared to be vice president or even maybe president. You can say Obama does not have any experience and that may be true, but if Obama sounded like her or even made the comments she made the conservatives would be having a feel day exploiting it. You don’t have to be a intelligent person to know this lady is clueless. It was John McCain decision to choose someone with littl
