I Can’t Help Myself…Advice for Democrats

By Andrea Tantaros
Republican Political Commentator

Dear Democrats,

You still don’t get it. Election Day is weeks away and you appear as discombobulated as Republicans did a few short months ago. Your anger at the GOP, at Bush, at anyone who is unlike you in mindset and values is more than palpable, it’s nauseating, even for the centrists in your party. I know you are ticked at our current President (I can appreciate that sentiment on some fronts) but you are doing major damage to your cause. Your nominee looks weak, his running mate is worthy of a missing person’s report, and your party looks rattled. It is rare that I give you advice, but I can’t help myself.

Tighten up and pick a message. I know McCain effectively yanked the change mantra out of your hands when he selected Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate and your nominee settled on establishment fixture Joe Biden, but you’ve got to get over it. There are other ways to go after Republicans. You tried the John McBush routine. It bombed. There is no plausible way anyone would believe McCain is Bush when conservatives still bristle at the mere mention of his name and resisted warming up to him until two weeks ago. (Remember immigration reform, campaign finance, stem cell research, etc.? Many conservatives do.) You can broaden that theme. (Pssst! We’ve been running the White House for the last eight years.) Run against our brand.

Reign in the lefties. It’s time you told the progressives to stop being so awful. Especially to Sarah Palin. It’s like they have nothing else to do but call people names and insult their choices. Where’s the tolerance you preach? I’m wondering, is this some kind of bizarre revenge on the popular girl who rejected them in junior high manifesting itself? How low do Obama’s poll numbers need to drop before they realize that, just like junior high, taunting the “it” girl to get a reaction doesn’t work. They are hurting the man you want to elect and reversing all of his efforts up until this point. Do Senator Obama a favor: tell them to shut down their laptops and head to anger management for the next two months.

Get off defense. In politics, when you’re explaining, you’re losing. The only thing we’ve heard out of the Obama camp since Denver are excuses on why your candidate didn’t get a bigger bounce after your convention, why the polls are wrong, and why Barack has more experience than Sarah Palin. Senator Obama: you should not be comparing yourself (the top of the ticket) to Palin (the bottom of the Republican ticket). It looks bad. Plus that’s my job.

And what’s with the lipstick on a pig comment? I don’t think you meant to call her a pig but you are being labeled classist, sexist and rude. Rookie mistake.

Democrats, you still have time to turn it around, and not with those veiled jabs at McCain’s age and stability. By executing real discipline. By intelligently going on offensive on this issues you can win, like the economy. And by not letting us distract you so damn much.

This is what you like to call the fierce urgency of now. Simply put: check yourself before you wreck yourself. If your motto is change you can believe in, right now is the time for some change–believe it.

Your words, much like your precious GOP make me sick.

Just like John McCain said, Americans are nothing but a bunch of whiners.

Alas, the Democrats began to lose their way in 2000, and it has changed the nature of American politics forever. Throughout history, those in Washington could have honorable disagreements. They could harangue each other on the floor of the House or Senate, but then leave the halls of politics as good, sometimes best friends. The could dine together, go to the theatre together, entertain one another. The differences were always over issues, never personal. It all changed in 2000 when the Democrats decided they had been “cheated” (although research has shown otherwise). There had always been close elections, and sometimes the “legal” winner lost out (e.g. Nixon in 1960 and the fraudulent “cemetary votes” in Chicago and Texas), but the losing side always accepted the apparent results. In 2000, the Democrats displayed a visceral hatred of Bush, and since then of ALL Republicans. That new twist in American politics has left them the victim of their own narrow-sighted hatreds. When hatred reins, it destroys a party’s rational approach to elections, more often than not ensuring their own defeat.

Obama and his campaign people are helping more and more people decide in favor of McCain/Palin. The LIBERAL DEM. media favoring BARRACK HUSEINE OBAMA have been so unfair. I only watch Fox new. I have children and many friends in Fl. Tx. Tn. Mi. Ga. Al. who like me are disgusted with ABC/ Charlie Gibson Barbara Walters (The View) MSNBC, CNN, NBC AND CBS. McCain/Palin are proven leaders. Mr. Obama doesn’t have a clue, however he can give a good speech with prompters. The Baby Boomer women are ANGRY…belittling Sarah Palin was a BIG-PIG mistake. You see women in this age group worked jobs, had babies, kept home together (cooking, cleaning, PTA, etc.) not to mention keeping her man satisfied. We’ve known how to multi-task since the beginning of time, we are confident Sarah Palin will be an outstanding Vice-Pres. I am the proud mother of two and have eight (8) grandchildren, I care about the future.

The interview between Charles Gibson and Sarah Palin was not an interview, it was an inquisition. I thought Charles was very rude.
Why don’t they check into Obamas background? I’m sure it would make some interesting reading for the American people. He has admitted to abusing alcohol and drugs, Is this the kind of Commander in Chief we want? I’ll take Sarah Palin any day over Obama.

Terrist want Obama to win, no doubt about it My husband is a Vetran and served our Country to keep it free and fair for the American people. Now we have Obama, the Dems selected not elected him! If the Democratic party was fair and on the up and up, Hillary would be where Obama is , they stole the election from her plain and simple and the Dem know it!! So what a mess, Obama is a danger to our Nation! Our family and many others feel the same. Obama is the enemy with-in our Country, If he gets in ? It will be the darkest days for our Nation. AS far as his big CHANGE the only change we will see is what we( might) be able to dig out of our pockets! Most people don’t check the facts and if you do it will scare the pants off of you!!!

For TP, in case you return to this and search for mentions of your name,

The United States was founded on the idea that the rest of the world was wrong. That’s why we decided we had no other choice but to become independent from Britain. It wasn’t because the British weren’t willing to let us do what we wanted to or because they were oppressing us to any great degree. It was because we thought the methods they used to arrive at their governing decisions were wrong and so were those used by the rest of the world. In spite of the spread of democracy since our nations birth, there still remain significant differences between the United States and the rest of world in the way we think about things and do things. Those differences define us as a nation as much as anything.

The day we stop believing our nation to be the best is the day our nation ceases to exist. You see, if we ever decide our nation is not better than the rest, we may as well become part of the UK again, for that’s the only reason we stopped being part of them in the first place.

So just stop hoping that some day the US will stop approaching the rest of the world with an attitude of moral authority. As long as we exist as a nation we will do just that. If you want to call it arrogance, fine. We call it national pride and we appreciate it when we see it in people from other countries, even if we think their wrong about a few things. Some nations have the luxury of existing just because they do. We don’t. We are either the best in our own view or we go away. Deal with it.

MSNBC, FOXNews and CNN are the stations I have tuned to for most of my national news in the past. Many news programs on FOXNews are so one sided with rude comments to guests that don’t happen to agree with the moderator, I have decided to write FOXNews off. Life is too short to ruin my day listening to rude, childish people! CNN, it seems to me, gives each party equal time without being pushy and snobish, so they have earned my station of choice. MSNBC comes in second, but CNN is the most pleasant to view and learn each side’s political views calmly.

Right On Sister, loved your view, very true. Don’t the Dems seem pathetic in their attempt to mock & ridicule both McCain/Palin. Is it me or was Charlie Gibson the rude nasty arrogant principal on obvious attack mode. And let me not forget to mention the disgusting display by the View threesome. Barbara was clearly mean spirited, Whoopi sat there with a look of disdain, and Joy as usual is always a hater. How the Senator kept his composure & class was amazing. I would have stopped the inquisition. Cindi must of wanted to slap them with that constant push on her abortion stand. Don’t they know this clear lovefest of all things Obama with the media & hollywood elites, only pushes the security & soccer moms to come out of the closet. Thats right I am furious how dare the spoiled brats of the in crowd tell american women that we are not good enough. We ‘ve been running & keeping households & business afloat for centuries. I have a good idea, send Senator McCain’s mom out & let her show them a thing or two about dignity & character. She raised a fine gentleman with guts & determination a human being that is not afraid to admit he isn’t perfect. A time tested warrior of the people, that does put country first. Truly a great american hero that will make a fine proud president.

Elitist is not how much you own, it is an ATTITUDE. And Obama owns that label. Everytime he just mentions John McCain’s name, his tone of voice is condescending. Everytime he says, “John McCain doesn’t get it” he is saying “I am so much smarter than him” He has a pattern of saying things that shows his elitist attitude of being so much smarter than everyone else. How can he possibly sell to this country that he is in touch with the everyday people?

Now he has his new elitist ad out saying McCain doesn’t know how to work a computer. He says McCain doesn’t know how to email. FALSE and misleading (which is what he accuses EVERY ad McCain puts out and much of what Palin says) McCain said he doesn’t like to email. NOT THE SAME THING.

But, Obama wouldn’t say anything false and misleading. Sure. He’s above all that, right? Well, he certainly shows he thinks he’s above all the little people. You know, the everyday people.

I love the way the Democrats try to act like we’re the ones avoiding the issues. They’re the ones who have made Sarah Palin their NO. 1 issue. The only thing they’ve been doing is trying to belittle her in any way they can. They are finally realizing how outraged the American public are with the biased reporting of the liberal media. This woman is not afraid to speak her mind and confront them and that’s why America loves her so much. She stands up for what she believes in which happens to be what the majority of Americans believe in. She has morals, values, actual accomplishments and has proven to be a great leader for her state. The liberal Democrats are confused because they don’t know what these things are. They are only interested in pushing their own liberal agenda. They just don’t get it. The majority of Americans do not agree with them. And Nancy Pelossi, crawl back in a hole somewhere. You are ruining our country!

Comment by Lorie

I would appreciate it if you wouldn’t tell them how they can win. I am thoroughly enjoying seeing them get so frustrated that they don’t know what to do but try to tear her apart, which is only losing them more votes. When are they going to realize it’s not working.

How is it possible that a good Christian woman would allow herself to be on the same ticket with one of the NeoCons (who believe in world domination) and brought us the never ending war in Iraq? This same good Christian woman says she is ready to be President and start a few wars herself. How is it possible that a good Christian woman could be corrupted so completely is such a short time.

See for yourself, watch the McCain approved ads and see the nastiness, meanness and down right unchristian, untruthful, thoughts of the devil himself.

Real Christians will not support this evil.

I find it interesting that there are people that cannot distinguish between McCain’s ‘Lipstick on a pig’ and Obama’s ‘Lipstick on a pig’. Yes, McCain said the same phrase. It is a common phrase in Washington and elsewhere in politics to refer to the idea of taking something unattractive and making it attractive by adding something pretty.

Yes, McCain used the phrase. I doubt if there are many in Washington who have not used this phrase. The difference is that Sarah Palin had just made her comment about lipstick a week before. This was a memorable moment in her speech and the media reported this comment multiple times. By referring to anything having to do with lipstick in the week following begs the comparison.

Did Obama really mean to refer to Palin as prettying up McCain’s campaign? Maybe. It did make McCain’s campaign more attractive and McCain was not exactly in the attractive category before adding Palin.

What bothers me is the lack of sensitivity to the current events. There are plenty of clichés, especially in politics, that can be seen as extremely inappropriate based on current events. You wouldn’t talk about ‘playing with fire’ to someone who has just had their house burn down. You wouldn’t talk about ‘hair standing on end’ to someone who is bald. ‘Stealing candy from a baby’ wouldn’t make sense to a child with a lollipop. You wouldn’t tell your child that you’re going to ‘give them a whipping’, within hearing distance of just about anyone.

When you use clichés, you need to be aware of your audience, who is listening, who might be listening and how they may be interpreted. What concerns me is that Obama used a phrase at a time when it would be interpreted as a reference to Palin, and then complained that it was misinterpreted.

If he was referring to Palin, he needs to step up and explain himself. If he simply was referring to the McCain campaign as a whole, he needs to explain that. If he didn’t know what he was referring to, there might be a problem there.

American politics are filled with people taking your words, little 2 second sound bites, and building a story around them. If you cannot choose your words wisely, you have no business in politics.

Andrea was trying to really help the Democrats out there in the blogs. I sadly had to see the Yahoo blogs go by the way side when the left leaning Yahoo just couldn’t allow conservative opinion, just look at their posts today. Why are democrats upset? I’ve never really gotten it, they have caused their own failure in the last three presidential elections.

1. If Bill Clinton would have kept Alain Gonzalez in the US in 2000 Gore wins Florida easy, are you telling me 5,000 more Hispanics don’t vote for Gore. Democrats caused their own loss.

2. Kerry picks Edwards, WRONG, Kerry’s failed thinking was that Edwards being a southerner would help him down south, Edwards couldn’t even win reelection in his own state. Kerry continually kept talking down to southerners, a method which has never worked for Democrats, and Obama is doing the same, “Clutching to guns and religion”. Stop insulting southerners intelligence.

3. Obama had the easiest choice of all, swallow his pride and pick Hillary, ballgame over. McCain could have dug up Reagan and he still wouldn’t have won.

Lastly, stop blaming others after these facts. Democrats you know I’m right. Democrats have one option and one option only, Obama has to humble himself to Hillary and the nation and put her on the ticket. One problem I don’t think there is no way in hell she does it, would you. Obviously passed over, if she hitches her wagon and he fails in office, she’s finished. If he successes she’s out for 8 years, then she’s 68 years old. Sadly I think now Bill and Hillary are giving lip service, let him fall then he’s a no brainer in 2012.

I have noticed that quite a few of you democrats seem to think that Republicans are stupid. Well, I seem to remember a democrat that in 2000 couldn’t figure out how to use a butterfly ballot, but he had a 250 IQ, he said. I think all of you dems think you are a heck of a lot smarter than you are. I’m an Independent (Conservative) but I’m also intelligent enough to see through the moron at the top of your ticket.

Comment by David T.

Lipstick on a pig AND a stinky OLD fish? Even Dems can’t be so stupid to think he wasn’t talking about Palin and McCain. But your gutless wonder wasn’t man enough to own up to it and say, “Yea, that’s what I think of the Republican ticket.” He cried foul but the only one who is foul is Obama. That is the kind of remark you would expect from a high school drop-out. The only thing missing was a nasty comment about McCain’s mother. But he did insult Palin’s motherhood. You picked a looser because you identify with loosers and I don’t hope Obama loses. I hope him and your ideas are totally rejected in a landslide.

Comment by Jake the Snake

Is this an advice for Democrats article? It doesnt look like one, all I noticed is a few comments suggesting the Obama Campaign change their approach, in between cheap shots and praises for Palin/McCain. 99% partisan parading and 1% advice. You should change the title to “I really don’t like Barack Obama and it’s fun to take cheap shots at him”. This article is in the same vein as the Sarah Palin acceptance speech where the current bemangled Rebulican Party abandonned their typical senior citizen whiny curmugeon voice found their new one, a smart-ass curmugeon little wiesel voice. In Barack Obama democrats have had a candidate to be excited about for almost a year now, and finally after sifting through a weak pool in the primaries they found someone who can garner some enthusiasm. They searched far and wide and literally found something in the corner of the country. Hats off! Barack easily generated this much excitement, hence raising historical amounts of money and snatching the nomination from Hillary. Now Americans have gotten used to Barack, and Palin is this months new Christmas present for the public eye. Let’s just hope the enthusiasm wears off before we are stuck with a 73 year old man for president, particularly symbolic of our dying nation that no one respects anymore, who can’t stand being around his wife so much that he is looking for an eight year job at the an age where most people are fly fishing all day, painting still-lifes, and complaining about how they cant go anywhere to shop because everywhere is too crowded. Sorry to be a jerk but I just sincerely believe the presidency is a young man’s job, it requires alot of energy and patience-something old people are not famous for.

Lipstick on a pig as an issue?

Really?

Funny how when McCain used the same comment referring to Senator Hillary Clinton’s healthcare program, there was no hue & cry. When Obama used the same expression–with ABSOLUTELY NO MENTION OF GOV. SARAH PALIN’S NAME– the Republicans cry foul & claim this is a sexist remark against Palin?

What kind of hypocrisy is this? The need to distract, distort, & manipulate is revolting. Obama is guilty of using a trite saying, NO more.

It shows the paucity of the Republicans that they have turned a cliche they themselves have used into an issue: there is a malicious intent to impute character traits that are simply not there.

It is a base tactic that says how dirty & low this election is.

Only those who are gullible will fall for the sexist bit.

& yes I am a woman.

And as for those who loathe science and deny any evidence of it: do you deny that the earth revolves around the sun, that gravity exists, that the level of cholesterol in your body affects the health of your heart?

How do you think this knowledge was acquired?

Guesswork?

Global warming is real.

THIS IS SCIENTIFIC FACT.

The increasing number and intensity of hurricanes, the effect of the increase of dark patches where there used to be ice( in case you aren’t aware-the less ice/snow there is, the less sunlight is reflected back into space, the more UV & heat absorbed into the atmosphere=increase in temperature), the increase in ocean levels….all this and more are evidence of global warming.

Why global warming and caring for the environment has become synonymous with communism, anarchist movements, & leftie politics is alarming.

This issue is more important than the labels people choose to align themselves with as it involves the future of the planet, whether one wishes to acknowledge the fact or not.

To close one’s eyes to reality is one thing: to willfully commit blindness as truth shows not only rigidity but stupidity.

This is directed at James. I think you should really stop and research your facts. The whole housing mess and credit failures are due to Clintons lack of control. Hey the economy was booming, why mess with it? Because we are now paying for it now. Had Clintons administration kept tighter reins on all the “creative” financial dealings during his administration we wouldnt be dealing with it today. No, I am not a Bush fan. I think he has made some serious mistakes. But as has been noted many times today, we have not had a terrorist attack on our soil since 9/11. And tell me James, do you honestly think you could have done better? I doubt it. Bush has had to deal with alot of things during his administration and considering everything that is falling apart I think he is doing as best as can be expected. So with this economy, lets elect Senator Obama. Lets ad more taxes to corporations and wealthy. Lets ad more financial burden to all tax payers and corporations with mandatory health care. And watch your jobs dry up, move overseas and no new jobs created. Its basic economics 101. Unfairly tax those with money and they surely wont invest it here in our country. Why? So they can pay a dispurportionate amount of taxes? Wake up people, more taxes anywhere strangles the economy.

Comment by Edward Traxler

I just don’t get it. I have been watching the ‘back and forth’ over the Lipstick on a Pig comment by Senator Obama. Take another look. When Senator McCain makes use of the same phrase in a clip .. you can hear people make a … “heh heh” in the background. Sounds about right since as Senator Obama pointed out this is a common phrase and by the “heh heh” .. not worth more then that. Listen to when Senator Obama uses it. He pauses .. completes the phrase. The crowd behind him starts cheering and stands clapping.

No one has commented on this.

I guess I’m just plain stupid and that I don’t understand what really happened. To me .. the audience thought that statement was worthy of something quite a bit more then a “heh heh”. If they didn’t take it .. as a direct reference to Governor Palin’s mention of lipstick in her speech .. then obviously I have no idea what is actually going on.

Senator Obama says that there was no connection between this ‘standard’ phrase used by politicians and Governor Palin’s comment. Her use of ‘lipstick’ had been blasted across the nation and if he failed to understand that his use of this phrase would be taken out of context then at the very least it should have been considered unwise.

Senator may very well have simply tossed out a standard ‘lipstick on a pig’ phrase and be quite innocent of making an inappropriate comment directed at Governor Palin. I don’t think his audience took it that way.

It’s sad to see that Foxnews decides to ‘moderate’ posts that happens to put a sensible case against the GOP. Yes, very neutral of you.

God, if he exists, help the world if the Americans decide to vote for someone they can ‘identify’ and ‘have a beer with’. Last time they did that, they picked an ignorant, arrogant, bumbling corrupt idiot.

You are all so ‘go USA’ but that concept is now the laughing stock of the world, who thinks the country is half full of very ignorant and stupid people, but y’all are so clueless and too arrogant to know it.

From someone outside the US (yes there are other countries in the world, you know). This post won’t make it anyway so why bother, eh?

It amazes me that all democrats blame Bush for everything that is wrong when they are the ones in charge in the House and the Senate. Who in this country can Vote themselves a raise? You forget about all the waisted time and money democrats spend on stupid investigations and hearings but when they are to vote on something worth while they take a paid vacation. You think McCain/Palin will be the end of the country but you would rather have someone tell you when to drive and how high or low you can have your thermostate set at in your own home? I don’t like some of the things Bush may say but I WILL NOT BE TOLD where my thermostat is to be set when I am the one paying the bill in my house.

It amazes me that people with litte intelligence make comments. Congress has been under GOP rule for 12 of the last 14 years and the White House for the last 8. Seeing also that the Democrats do not have Veto-proof control adds to the idiocity of your statement. You even think that someone doesn’t tell you when and where to drive already. They are called traffic lights and divided lane highways. You’ve been sold a bill of goods that freedom is free. You have to give up something in order to get it. So if that means conservation, (unless you don’t believe in science and math and stuff like that) then do it and stop being selfish. Or better yet if you really want to be smart just upgrade to a 12 or 14 seer unit. But that would be ridiculous.

I think all Obama can focus on lately is farm animals and cosmetics, and this is who the Dems. want for President, at this rate he may think that he would run the white house like a barn yard crossed with cover girl. So what if half or more of America is loving Palin she is a breath of fresh air, and she is a normal American Mother, that shows she relates to a lot of the issues that some American mid-class, stay at home, working mom go through. so what if she was only a Governor, Bush wasn’t a congressmen when he ran the first time.

Reading some of these comments from the Obama supporters, guess you really don’t want the GOP vote or don’t want them to vote! Using the same “old” bush hating talking points and calling the “other” side names on this blog isn’t helping your case but guess that doesn’t concern you! What happen to reaching across to the other party????? or is that only for the GOP’s to do? Democrat’s are waiting on their backsides for the GOP hand (out), but can’t seem to find their “hand” to reach for the GOPs at all…… This article really has brought out the best of the best Obama supports/Bush haters! They preach how they are the best and working for the people, but when it comes to working with people who’s view points are different… well, guess the double standard is the play of the day!

I know you won’t read this, but I have Fox News set as my home page so I get to see the headlines a lot through out the day and the Interior Dept/Oil/Sex scandal has been at the top, on the front page of the Fox News website all day yesterday and today.

Andrea — it’s okay to give them advice, because they’ll never take it seriously anyway. Democrats don’t do facts.

I know this won’t get posted but it is sad to see so many people still brainwashed by the republican party….check out the movie “They Live” about a society brainwashed and asleep….you better wake up before Nov 4th and end up electing McCain to continue Bush’s disaster of a presidency. And stop with the “lipstick on a pig” issue! It shows how republicans have absolutely nothing to talk about except what they perceive as an attack on the barbie doll. Time is running out for all of you to stop drinking the kool-aid. McCain and Palin’s weaknesses will be exposed in the debates….if McCain can stay awake that long and Palin hasn’t been indicted for ethics violations in Alaska.

Fascinating to see the Dems self destruct.
What a fun election!

Andrea,

Don’t worry. Even if dems read your article, they won’t get it. They already think they have it all figured out. They also don’t realize that the kind of “tax cuts” Obama promises are really a redistribution of wealth, also know as SOCIALISM.

And the fabulous “healthcare for everyone” plan is actually SOCIALIZED MEDICINE which has been deemed a failure by other countries that have implemented such a program. Canadians come to the US for surgery, because they will die waiting for it in Canada. Great plan, huh?

Obama and his elitist left think they are better than the rest of us. And not just conservatives or republicans, but the base of the poor and underpriviledged that they maintain as their sheep-like base by keeping them ingratiated to them with their misbegotten policies to stamp out poverty.

We pay more for a gallon of gas than ever before because liberal democrats have stymied efforts to develop nuclear energy or allow exploration and drilling in huge areas that are rich in gas and oil. If those bans were lifted and RESPONSIBLE energy development were implemented, our economy would thrive with the jobs it would create for AMERICANS!

Wake up people! Obama is not the right leader for our nation! Was hurricane Gustav really serendipity for the Dems? I think not! On the first day of the RNC, I saw John McCain, Sarah Palin and George Bush on the ground and acting with authorities to make sure people got out safely. I saw a previously broken system work like a dream to evacuate tens of thousands. I witnessed Republicans converting their convention into a fundraising mission to help the cause. What were the dems doing? Nothing. Unless you want to count running slam ads against McCain. Disgraceful. I think it was a clear message from the very beginning that McCain and Palin don’t just SAY they are working for our Country, THEY DO!

Watching the news and reading these posts reminds me, Andrea, that you left something hypercritical and specific out of your article. Many of the Democrats who have posted here have referred to it, and many Democratic political pundits have actually said it. The word is “stupid”, used blatantly in replies, by their candidate, and in a quote that was just on H&C. When questioning an author about his new book, opinions, and the election, specifically if McCain/Palin wins, he replied,” I don’t think the American people are that stupid.” Liberal Democrats have been tagged as “Elitist”, this intellectual superiority rhetoric only reinforces this, not as a tag or perception, but as FACT. What other conclusion can be drawn when you think you’re smarter than everyone who disagrees with you, and you know best? If indeed you truly are smarter than everyone who is in opposition to your ideology, you would be able to come up with a less obviously insulting way to phrase it. So, another tip would be to get a thesaurus and stop being so plebeian in their remarks.

Please quit trying to help the democrats. In the last few days has anyone in the campaign not flubbed? Joe Biden needs glasses to recognize the handicapped. Obama needs to pick a new farm animal, keep away from make-up and high-heel jokes, and take some meds for stuttering. The Fowler family can’t possibly have anything left to say.

What a circus.

McCain & Palin are looking better every day to the average voter, especially us Wal-Mart Shoppers.

P.S. To all you stuffed shirts: I’ve also darkened the door of Neiman-Marcus, Macy’s and Tiffany’s!

Where do I begin,
Dems gained control of Congress Just last year. Bush has been in control for nearly 8 years. Bush’s record makes me literally sick. The 7.5 TRILLION budge deficit he as run up, a bungled war, No energy policy to speak of, a housing crisis, and bank failures…Wow. How do you spin these facts. The biggest myth in American politics is the the GOP are good, well, at anything - including managing an economy. Cutting taxes and deregulation is Not the answer to every problem. What is conservative about a $7 trillion plus deficit in 7 years? Maybe the electorate will wake up this year? What does the GOP have to do to get voted out of White House? Blow up the world? Make America a second class power? Destroy the environment? Destroy economy? No, the answer is…support choice.

Andrea, got a chuckle from your column. Can’t tell if you’re goading the Dems or actually being truthful or both, but it’s bound to infuriate quite a few who love their candidate but probably couldn’t say anything specific about Obama that will really change anything. And folks who think the polls are close haven’t studied Poli-Sci 101 and the difference between all voters versus likely voters where McCain-Palin has much higher leads. And one more piece of advice for the Dems - they should really start to believe in a God and earnestly pray for good weather on election day. Because in PoliSci 101, we learn also that Dems tend to attract flaky voters who really aren’t as committed to real principles. So if the weather turns bad, like it did in key battleground states in 2000 and 2004, the Dems stayed home.

Biden should be addressing Palin and Obama should be hitting McCain… What’s really happening is that Palin is gaining experience on how to handle Biden by sparring with the “top of the ticket” while Senator McCain gets a respite… It’s like watching a JV team beat the Varsity team in a scrimmage — embarrassing and doesn’t do much for the rankings of the varsity team in the local papers.

Sorry guys — Obama (the starting quarterback for the DNC) just can’t seem to thwart the JV defense of Palin… What will happen when he has to play against the RNC starting string? Usually those games end badly…

I thought you all should know, your missing a wonderful story that is being carried by everyone BUT Fox. “The Interior Department agency that collects oil and gas royalties has been caught up in a broad ethics scandal — including allegations of financial self-dealing, accepting gifts from energy companies, cocaine use and sexual misconduct. ” What a wonderful, balanced news institution!

Can you believe all in 1 day, from the Dems: ..lipstick, Jesus, Pontius Pilate, Sarah Palin’s non abortions, and Popular Mechanics. What a bunch of idiots. They never can keep their mouths shut.

I say stick it to the Palin and McCain with both barrels. Don’t hold back if the Spirit moves you, Obama. These people are not nice, but they are depending on you to be nice. Take them to Show Time at the Appolo like Moms Mabelly and Redd Fox would do. Since McCain and Palin are playing George and Gracie, give them the Sandman routine and dance them off the stage.

No more Mr. Nice Guy. Obama is up against the American version of Joseph Goebbels and he will loose without Playin’ the Dozens because they certainly are plying them on him. We need a fighter in the White House, not an old war horse and his mare.

McCain votes with Bush?? Since when does Bush vote in Congress. I thought Congress passes legislation and it is then sent to the President to be signed or vetoed. Who controls Congress?? The Democrats. So when President Bush “Approves” legislation, it was sent to him by the Democrat controlled Congress. So it is stupid to say that McCain votes 90% with Bush. I think that the Democrats need to find another “line” to use.

Andrea Tantaros, This article is brilliant you are pointing out very well I might add, the mistakes being made by the Obama team. I watched the Obama remarks today and again he addressed the “lipstick” remarks. I know they think they must fight back but it is also spurring even more liberal surrogates to make stupid statements…ie: South Carolina and Tenn. I also watched McCain/Palin today, not a peep about “pigs” they stayed on message. Althought they could to freshen up the stump speeches they looked professional and in control. I think this article should be requierd reading by all Obama staff and surrogates. Bravo

Comment by Jim

Once again, the press, AND the bulk of the republicans who jumped on the “pig” bandwagon, are missing the entire point.

Yes…the saying has been used many times before. And yes, everyone on the republican’s side is attempting to take this out of context. He was referring to McCain’s economic policies….and them being just like Bush’s.

Here’s the point. Using that saying now, right after Sarah referenced “lip stick” in her speech, can only be 1 of 2 things.

1) He really was trying to smack Sarah, which I doubt, but is possible he got that advice from a handler…
or
2) He’s just that dumb.

Either one hurts him. A presidential candidate needs to be smart enough and quick enough to NOT get INTO this kind of mess to begin with.

Blah blah blah republicans ruined the economy. Let’s just assume that statement is true, that the economy sucking right now (by the way I’m a normal middle class guy and yeah gas has gotten more expensive but not too much has changed) is all the fault of the Bush Administration.

If that is true, the question is what are we going to do now to fix the economy, to get rid of the debt and create a surplus? Stop talking about how terrible things were under Bush and explain more of the HOWS and WHYS of the fix.

There is one reason we ever have a debt, spending too much money. Whether it is on a Republican’s wars or a Democrats inefficient and pointless social programs, spending more money than you have creates a debt.

How do you eliminate the debt? Two ways, you either take the Democrats approach which is steal, I mean tax, more from the people to cover the extra money spent, or the Republicans which is cut money from programs (some which are useful). The Republicans have the right idea, except for the fact that they choose to spend that money they cut out of programs to intervene in other countries affairs.

If we didn’t intervene in other countries and didn’t waste money on social programs that the government should have no business in we wouldn’t have a debt, and hence they wouldn’t need to continue taxing us.

Did you know if the federal government eliminated the (unconstitutional) income tax entirely then the government would still have the same income it had back in 1995. Income tax should be illegal but the government spends so much money they need a way to pay for it. Think about it, if the government wouldn’t have increased spending one cent since 1995, then today not a single one of us would have to pay an income tax. Do you see the problem with spending yourself into a debt, whether it be on a war or stupid programs, all it amounts to is a tax on ordinary person.

Andrea, don’t tell the Dems how to win the game! For crying out loud, if they’re melting down, leave them be and let them do it!! Our nation might be spared from Marxism for at least another four years…

Why give the dems good advise?

Great letter that Democrats will completely ignore and Andrea knows that or she likely wouldn’t have written it. She will be able to reference this letter at some time in the future when they’re ignorance costs them and they’re beloved change agent the white house.

I love the comments about how the ecnomy will magically implode months after the election and will somehow be repaired if Obama is elected? What? Democrats have always been called “Usefull Idiots” and have never been more usefull for their parties elite than now.

I was undecided until Sarah Palin came along and I educated myself on Obama more. I got tired of hearing about Bush = McCain. Good God, it seems like that’s all I hear and it is wearing thin.

The thing that worries me most is when I heard Obama say, “The most beautiful sound at sunset are the sound of Muslim prayers.” That got me. Obviously, he was brainwashed as a young child by his stepfather dragging him to the mosques as a child. This is during his formative years. I would respect Obama more if he just came right out with the facts. This this past Sunday with his (not-so-slip of the tongue), “My Muslim faith” comment. It came out so naturally that it has to be true. It gives me comfort that this country is 87% Christian of some kind.

The way the Democrats have attacked Palin has also turned me off big-time. It’s so obvious and has turned off many of my friends that were staunch Obama supporters. It seems young kids just equate McCain with more of the same like Iraq, but it seems with Obama we actually might get into WWIII, not to mention I totally feel unsafe now with Obama in charge. Can he really stare terrorists down. They think of him and one of them and will probably attack us here at home the first chance they get
