A Daring Choice

As an authentic feminist and independent conservative I am thrilled with McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin for Vice-President.

I have to confess, I didn’t give him enough credit. I have come to support McCain grudgingly, only after Giuliani and then Romney. And when the VP stakes began both on my Web site and radio show Palin had been a consistent favorite of readers and listeners. As disappointment and even hostility with Washington has grown, McCain has done something so many of us were hoping for–he made a daring, maverick and ultimately the right choice for his running mate.

A choice reflective of real change, but change based in principle and true progress.

What’s the difference now between Obama and McCain? Last night, Obama spoke about rejecting the politics of the past, after he spoke for a good 20 minutes embracing the old, tired and failed liberal politics of the past 50 years.

With choosing Palin, McCain has now set the standard of genuine change, a willingness to buck the status quo, not just rhetorically, but actually. Perhaps we shouldn’t have been surprised–it was a Republicans who put African-Americans into actual positions of power, rejecting the Clintonian notion that blacks should accept the absurdity of a white man being the ‘first black president.’ And now, it is again a conservative who elevates a woman to power.

There were many other predictable, perhaps safer, choices McCain could have made which would have satiated the conservative base. Yet, he chose someone who has the qualifications and has a history of also walking the maverick walk, but does not necessarily have the traditional resume, and that’s exactly what we want in a day when trust in government has never been lower.

Sarah Palin is a perfect choice and moves me from grudging support to full, invigorated advocacy for his campaign.

Now it’s time for every authentic feminist out there to make the same commitment to the McCain-Palin ticket.

What touchhed my heart was the girl cleaning her brother’s forehead with her Saliva. She had no idea that she was on national TV. She represents the regular american family. She was spontaneous. She was caring. She is a real person who was not bothered by who was watching her. Like the mother is the daughter. Yes, we need leaders who are regular Americans as well as real people, but not the elites.

After Mitt Romney dropped out of the race, I never wanted to vote for MCCain. But,this little girl has fired me up to vote for McCain. Go Girl Go!!!!!!!!!!

not being a feminist..I just love Palin…she is just a neat, aggressive, smart women. She is a breath of fresh air to what was going to be avery diffical vote for me; McCain now needs to let her be who she is, the people will continue to love her. Sure takes the wind out of Michelle, she is so pompas (sp) with her I am a career women and can have children too..funny when it is a democrat, its okay to have a family and a successful job..
I think you are great, they need to have you on more often, I can tell O’Reilly likes you, but he always pairs you up with someone and you do not get to get your thoughts out..

I totally agree about Gov. Palin being a wonderful pick, I am so excited for our country. I heard good things about her almost a year ago. McCain is to be commended on this pick. He may not be flashy like Obama, or an eloquent speaker, but you know that when you hear him speak he is genuine and would literally die for our country. You can tell he doesn’t care if he gets the credit, it’s not about him. It is about America. As far as the left going after Palin, we all know that if you can’t debate the facts, you personally attack. But the looks on the faces of the press and the hatred in the blogs have been priceless. That tells us that they are appalled, but confused at the same time, that we could be so stupid as to not vote for the Chosen One. I can’t remember who said it in the news, but it was said that “only the uneducated will vote for McCain/Palin and those small town people.” They just don’t get it. May God bless our country and look over John McCain and Sarah Palin and their families in the days to come.

The left says, “Palin? Well, sure, she’s a woman … but Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton!”.

Truer words were never spoken, because:

Palin has never ridden her husband’s coattails into any office, or any nomination.
Palin isn’t an ivy league lawyer. In fact, she’s not a lawyer at all. How refreshing!
Palin has actual executive experience balancing budgets, cutting taxes, coordinating agencies, and managing a large staff.
Palin is raising five children, including one with special needs — instead of just one child with special privileges.
Palin is a real woman — not a feminista in men’s clothing.
Palin isn’t beholden to unions or special interests.
Palin stands up for unborn babies, even though they can’t vote for her.
Palin actually HAS an energy policy, and a plan for energy independence for America.
Palin is an NRA member who actually owns and uses guns; she’s authentic — not just a “joiner”.
Palin didn’t begin in college and plot a career and a life centered around politics, power and influence.
Palin is married to a man who supports HER career, and takes an active role in raising THEIR children.
Palin is like many working mothers: An excellent multi-tasker with compassion as well as competence.
Palin’s firstborn will likely attend college on the G.I. bill, not on an “insider” Stanford admission.
Palin isn’t a victim — someone voters feel sorry for because of her philandering husband.
Palin didn’t stay married to a powerful spouse in order to advance her own political ambitions.
Palin isn’t “the most hated woman in America” — which turns out to be a big plus in an election.
Palin has lived 20 years in her home state … she didn’t move there to run for office.
Palin doesn’t ask for your vote because you are a woman, a minority, or a welfare recipient.
Palin isn’t shrill, boring, or condescending when she speaks to an audience.
Palin doesn’t whine about how unfair life is, or how badly women are persecuted. She just overcomes the challenges she faces.
Palin doesn’t exhibit a sense of entitlement, or dwell on her own inflated accomplishments.
Palin has never dodged bullets or negotiated peace treaties. (But, as it turns out, neither has Hillary).
Palin isn’t the sock puppet of millionaires or king-makers like George Soros.
Palin has spent her political life working for those she represents, not for partisan, personal, or special interests.
Palin kept her promises in her neighborhood, her city, then her State — even if it meant bucking her own party.
Palin is proof that grass-roots politics is alive and well.
Palin can relate to, and inspire, ordinary men and women — not just the elite.
Palin isn’t a millionaire, a Washington insider, or a career politician.
Palin is, unlike Hillary, one of us!

I’m not voting for Palin because she’s an inspiring speaker — although she certainly is. Talk is cheap, but actions speak volumes. I’m not voting for Sarah Palin because I’m a woman, and I’m not voting for her because I’m a Republican. But John McCain and Sarah Palin share my values and my goals for this country. They both want a strong military, lower (equitable!) taxes for EVERYONE, smaller government, less waste, a strong economy, and energy independence. They both want to end partisan politics, and bring more honesty and integrity to the political system. Sarah Palin will help do all of that … because, among other things, she’s no Hillary.

I am thrilled with McCain’s VP choice. Palin will out shine Biden. He has a lot of experience alright, the experience of making bad decisions and shifting with the politcal winds. Palin will also out shine the top of the Dems ticket. She may not have a lot of experience, but at least what she has is not a lie. But, then Obama has spewed a number of lies over the last eighteen months….i.e. the march in Selma, AL in 1965 inspired his mother and father to go ahead and “get together”. Funny thing is Obama was born in 1961.

The attacks already coming at Sarah Palin are as revealing about the attackers as they are disgusting. “Don’t run for VP because your unmarried 17 yo daughter is pregnant.” Could it be that they discussed this as a family and supported her decision? Could it be that everybody they knew was already aware of it and so the millions she’ll never meet don’t matter?

Now I’ve heard about her husband’s DUI in 1986. Wow! He was what? 22, 24? It was two years before they were married. And it’s her husband, not her! Obama admitted to using hard drugs as a teen. Of course, that’s OK. Sorry, liberal twits, you are in fact saying that the drug use by Obama is to be expected. It makes him “black enough.” It ’s YOUR stereotyping that’s at issue, not her husbands youthful slip up.

Experience? At least she’s run something. All Obama has run is his mouth with the same loose generalities and high-sounding blather as some college dorm bullsession.

What all these slimy attacks reveal is that the Left is terrified.

FoxNews is the biggest joke. It’s “Fair and Balanced” motto has to be the most absurdly hypocritical branding attempt in the history of marketing. PATHETIC!!

Why do people think Sarah Palin is a maverick? She is for the status quo — natural resource extraction; having as many kids as possible; believing that global warming is some kind of hoax that will overturn our civilization; drilling for oil and gas; and it’s okay to call in political favors, even for one’s family….

Comment by RDSmith

In the theme of hurricane season and with McCain choosing Governor Palin (soon to be VP Palin), Obama/Biden had better watch out for Hurricane McCain/Palin. They are coming on fast and will pass the dems in the polls after this week’s convention and then it is on to victory in November. You know deep down, Hillary is hoping for a McCain/Palin victory b/c if Obama/Biden win, her future aspirations for being President are gone! Did you know…Obama has the least experience of the 4 candidates!! Think about that 2 VP candidates and 1 Presdiential candidate have more experience. Obama is nothing but a promise everything empty suit!

Comment by mickey_d

Democrats worship unwed, pregnant teenage girls! They always want to throw welfare dollars, free healthcare and other free stuff (free for them, not for taxpayers) at unwed pregnant teenage girls. So why the hypocrisy when it comes to Sarah Palin’s daughter?

If Democrats were consistent, they would want to elect Palin’s daughter as Queen of the Americas, and Sarah Palin as the Queen-Mother!

Comment by Doreen Gregori

I think she has shown poor judgement. Knowing that her pregnant daughter will be subjected to scrutiny by the national media, should have caused her to reconsider taking the VP nomination. What happened to family values? Putting family first? She has a 3 month old child. Going from Governor to Vice President with a 3 month old to take care of. I though Democrats were the ones who wouldn’t put their family before their political aspirations, but I see that Republicans share this same character fault. Maybe if she had spent more time with her family, the daughter wouldn’t be pregnant.

Obama has been all about change and then he picks Biden as his VP. So much for change. McCain
has blown Obama out of the water with regard to change. Palin is pure change and a fighter. Biden is
just another Washington breed. We all know what tha means.

Sarah Palin is what America is all about and she is the choice I have been hoping for. Her choice has energized me and will do the same for millions! My wife (a big Dem), watched her acceptance speech and said, “What an impressive woman- Wow.” MaryAlice and the Libs just don’t get it - Palin is the real deal and people will gravitate to her, her successes, her family and her love of America. She has none of the negative associations such as exist with Obama and her executive experience trumps his lack thereof. She is the epitomy of what our Founders had in mind for service to the country. Where can I get my SaraCuda bumpersiticker?

As an independent voter - and an Alaskan resident - I think this says it all: McCain / Palin sign.

Generally speaking, I’m very hesitant about voting for another Republican president. I believe that George W Bush was a disastrous choice in 2000 and (especially) in 2004. McCain is probably be a better choice that George W, but …

On the other hand Obama seems no better. While change in DC is needed, I don’t really see any sign that Obama made a difference to the people of Illinois. Obama IS a great orator - and God knows we need more talkers in DC [OK.... so I indulge in sarcasm!].

Sarah Palin, on the other hand, is someone I respect. She deposed the former governor ["King" Frank Murkowski], pushed through the natural gas pipeline on Alaska’s terms instead of the oil companies’ terms, and - my favorite - stated that if Alaska wants a “Bridge to Nowhere” that we’d “build it ourselves”.

In other words, Alaska is a rich state and - except in extreme projects - can afford to take care of itself; Ms. Palin recognized that fact and the fact that much of the “Lower48″ only considers Alaska as a resource - not as a state.

Frankly speaking, if I decide to vote for the Republican ticket, it will be because Sarah Palin is on it - not John McCain.

Comment by Larry the Cable Guy

John McCain ” Country First ” picks Sarah whom he met twice, and places her in a position of power with the keys to the missle silo’s, at hand, and should grandpa John expire for some reason, she will control the country.

Are you people insane.

I was going to protest vote against McCain (not Obama though). I couldn’t forgive him for pulling the rug out from under Bush on the war and of course derailing the conservatives from getting conservative judges on the Fed courts with his infamous gang of 14.

I did not vote for McCain in the Ohio primary and felt dirty participating in Operation Chaos. I couldn’t believe I had a Democratic ballot. I dreaded feeling like I was headed for the same feeling this Presidential election. Thank God for his choice of Palin. Energy and command exude from this Spitfire. She’s the only choice I can image that would bring me back to The GOP.

I hated the platitude of thanking Geraldine and Hillary and not mentioning Sec of State Rice. I hope the campaign isn’t so geared toward luring on the fence women that they forget to speak to who they are.

Comment by zilana

Sarah Palin is experienced because she “ran” a city??? I suggest someone check how many hours a month are spent at that job because it is not the norm for small towns to have city hall meeting very often. She knows NOTHING of foreign policy. Those who think she somehow has more experience than Obama are pipe-dreaming. He has served in a state and national senates, giving him actual experience. Women don’t vote on the basis of gender. Remember hearing people say they didn’t mind having a woman president but not “that” woman, referring to Hillary Clinton? Well, we’ll say the same thing now - not THIS woman, Ms Palin.

Tammy,

I am not seeing the media compare and contrast the significant accomplishments of Sarah Palin during her relatively short time as Governor of Alaska to the eight years Senator Obama spent in the Illinois state senate. The state of Illinois is ranked 5th for total population with ~12.7 million people yet, economic growth Illinois is ranked 37th of 50 at 2.1%. Illinois is ranked 40th of 50 for personal income growth and is tied at 39th for unemployment at 5.2%. Illinois lost 220,000 high paying jobs, mostly in higher paying manufacturing jobs and gained 533,000 jobs in lower paying service sector jobs in the same period. The median household income in Illinois has declined by $6000 during the years (1999 to 2005). Median household income of $46,132 in 2004 is about the same as it was 15 years earlier in 1989 as measured in constant dollars. Illinois ranks 33rd out of 50 for spending for higher education and ranks 35th out of 50 for outcome performance. Is this the Change Obama has planned for the rest of America. Thank you but I would prefer Sarah Palin’s resume to Senator Obama’s.

Best Regards,
Vic Hanny

Comment by Vic

Tammy,

Earlier today I was watching an interview of Karl Rove on Fox News where he was asked if McCain is second guessing his choice of Sara Palin for VP. I would suggest Obama is likely the one who is second guessing his choice of Joe Biden. Obama missed a golden opportunity, passing over great choices like Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, a very popular second term Governor, former federal prosecutor, former State Attorney General. The Democrats have two extreme liberal Senators with no executive experience. A “Dark Horse” choice like Janet Napolitano would have provided a moderate to the ticket with Judicial and Executive experience from McCain’s own backyard. It would have shown Obama was looking for a change from the same old party politics. Instead Senator McCain looks like the true agent of change. I would think it is Senator Obama who has buyers remorse.

I think it was a wonderful pick. I am proud to be a supporter of John McCain and Sarah Palin. I think it shows really what a maverick he is. He has gone above and beyond for our country. She is young and a fighter of her own right. It’s a great choice and I was so proud to hear her say God Bless You and God Bless Our Country at the end of her speech. I am a married 48 year old woman with two grown educated children. My husband has been in law enforcement for 25 years and I support and love my country and I am so proud of our soldiers and I am so proud of John McCain and his new
VP candidate Sarah Palin!!! What a great team!

My 14 year old grandson will also have the perfect roll model. Sarah will help restore moral values to Washington, DC and will show all the men in the world what grit can do. How can they aspire to less?

Sarah for President in 2012!

People forget about Putin’s Russia - and how old-school Russians would love to get their
Alaskan territory back. McCain’s choice is farsighted on many fronts, but this one is
something that no one - no one - is articulating. Russia would love to have a lock on
all the remaining untapped oilfields in the east, as well as land it sold in “Seward’s Folly.”
Look for this to be an international issue if Putin and his mystery master are still around
in 3-5 years. If Palin is VP, Alaska is less likely to have its statehood threatened.

Kudos to the young 18 year old voter who researched the facts on Palin and McCain instead of being blown away by the empty promises of Obama. That is hopefully what more young people of this country will do this election. I think Palin is a marvelous choice. She does have experience. You don’t run a city and a state and not gain experience. She’s not afraid to play with the big boys.

Cannot wait to see her go head to head with Biden who cetainly does not represent the change that Obama keeps preaching about. Biden certainly changed his mind and talk about Obama when he agreed to become his VP choice. W have to remember most of the politicians will say anything they think will get the vote. You have to look at their background and how they voted in the past and the things they stood for. If they’ve been honest and forthright in their dealing with us in the past then they’ll do a good job as President. McCain has done that. Obama hasn’t even kept the promises he made to the people in Chicago when he ran as their senator. Keep that in mind.

Comment by RRR

I don’t support feminism, but this was a good choice because McCain has stood by his word. Authentic or not feminism has become chauvinistic and sexist. When Obama (the messiah) picked Joe man hating Biden it was over. I’m a full fledged supported of Mc-Palin. I beleve it’s always the republicans who gave minorities a right to excel.

Comment by RSR

If the ‘DUM’ocrats cite Palin’s ‘lack of experience’ as reason for not being qualified for VP, then how can any intellegent American vote for the ‘empty-suit’ inexperienced OBAMA to be President.
NO OBAMA…ever.

I don’t mean to be picky or arrogant….
and I’m sure that they really are not representative of ALL Obama supporters…

But why do the Obama supporters, such as “Roger Robinson”, have such difficulty communicating with proper spelling and grammar?

I’ve read so many Obama supporters’ comments in the past couple of days (here and on other sites) and inevitably they border on semi-illiterate….

When you try to make an argument using poor grammar and incorrect spelling, your message fails miserably. No one will take you seriously.

Don’t be bashing a candidate’s qualifications when you are not even qualified to write a coherent sentence.

Great comments by Tammy Bruce! A former NOW leader who isn’t afraid to speak her mind. Unfortunately, I find some of the comments by liberals to be so critical especially those by Gobama on August 29th, 2008 at 6:29 pm.

I find it ironic that liberals who supposedly support women’s rights question Gov. Palin making petty, shrewish comments. Don’t women’s rights mean that a woman has the right to work outside the home regardless of having a newborn at home even one with special needs? Isn’t this exactly the sort of thought against which champions of women’s rights have fought? Isn’t their efforts why at long last 88 years ago women gained the right to vote?

I thought women’s rights mean that women have a right to choose even if it means choosing to keep a Down’s Baby or choosing not to be a Democrat. I thought women’s rights meant that women should be judged on their abilities and not how attractive or unattractive they might be; a thought echoed by Dr. King’s speech where people are judged only by the content of their character.

So she has a journalism degree; most of Congress members seem to be lawyers and look where we are!

As for qualifications, she has many. She has worked in her husband’s family’s fishing business. That teaches far more about economics than one learns in law school. Health care? She has a Down’s Baby, and I didn’t know that health care was part of a law degree. I thought that health care was more the focus of an MPH (let me spell that out for you Gobama-MPH means Master’s of Public Health). Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? As commander of the Alaska national guard, she has guard members serving in those theaters and have visited them not only in the Mid East but also at the military hospital in Landstuhl. Oh, and she a son on his way to Iraq in less than 2 weeks, so she has a stake in this! As a bonus, let’s not forget that her state is completely cut off from the lower 48 states, so she must have foreign relations with at least Canada. I think a Canadian referenced this in one of the comments, too!

By the way, since when does the Constitution require a law degree to hold public office? I must have missed that amendment.

Yeah palin was the perfect choice.. i love all the haters.. oh she is a mayor of a small town, governor of a state with a population i believe was said of 500.. no experience… rotflmao.. yeah lets see she left that small town better then when she found it.. the state.. hmm cut spending.. including her own paycheck, increased money sent to each citizen, cleaned up corruption.. got things done.. has a 80% approval rating (of the 670,000 alaskans and growing fast) has taken on big oil, and if you think most owrld leaders are tougher than big oil well think again.. how much has obama done for his constituents? look up the great things he has done.. wait its all just great things he has said. Please know your facts before you think you can snipe at someone. And if you are hurt by this pick and say your a republican and are not going to vote.. you would rather obama wins because your feelings are hurt? grow up and be a responsible adult and a responsible citizen and vote.

I have always been a staunch Republican, but this is the most elated I have felt since Reagan. As a working mom in a demanding profession who is running a business, I know how tough you have to be to pull it all off, and Palin has shown she can do it, even as the chief executive of an entire state. Like many other writers, I am suddenly so energized and optimistic. She is clearly in touch with the average American: no Ivy League ivory towers, no massive family fortune that paved her way, nothing gifted to her (everything earned), the smarts to pick a loyal and supportive husband (i.e. love, not money or greedy aspiration as her motivator), the guts to go to battle with the Establishment of her own party, and the political power to win. Wow.

Smart Democrats should see this as enormous potential for bipartisan progress. And here’s a woman who was never afraid to put her personal life, and the miraculous gift of life, on hold to serve a career: five kids, an apparently loving and functional family, a long-term marriage unmarred by any allegations of infidelity (a la Clinton), a willingness to bring a physically challenged child into this world (”perfect in my eyes”). Come on, what higher testament to character is there than this? I am angered by the people who are already saying that a “good mother” should not pursue this opportunity. Palin is a shining beacon to all Americans, all working mothers, and all of our daughters (and sons — we can only hope ours marry someone like this!).

I am so excited about Sarah Palin being John McCain’s running mate. She has an excellent resume’ and will do an excellent job as Vice-President. This pick (Palin) certainly energized me; like Tammy, Mark Levin, et al., I had grudgingly decided to pull the lever for McCain, this pick makes it an easy vote for the McCain led candidacy.

Comment by Catrina Ross

For those of you who think Palin was the wrong pick… Do you know anything about her?
I live in Alaska. I have seen first hand how she took on the corruption here.
~She vetoed over 300 bills filled with special interest spending.
~When she took office, she put the Governor’s private jet up for sale. She said that a private jet was not necessary for her job and was just a waste of tax payer dollars.
~See visited the Middle East July 2007, long before Obama did! I know this because she spent time with my husband’s Army unit in Kuwait to see what her Alaskan soldiers were going through.
~She just signed a bill to give Alaskan residents another $1200 to offset our high energy costs.
I have seen the great things this Governor has done. I don’t care that she is woman. Man or woman, this is a wonderful politician that truly puts the people first.
Wouldn’t that be a nice change in Washington DC?

I, as a democrat, want to vote for McCain/Palin. The only thing that bothers me is her stance on stem cell research. First let me say I am very proud today to be an Independent Republican Conservative after John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate. I can’t help but laugh at the MSM and other liberal sources scoff at Sarah Palin’s qualifications to be V.P, especially after their choice of Barack Obama to be President. Her qualifications far exceed his, two terms on the City Council, served a term as Mayor, elected Governor, as well as raising five children and serving on the school board. She has legislative experience as well as executive experience. She worked on a commercial fishing boat, and was a basketball coach and a Hockey mom, and she did it all with style and grace. Compare that to B.O one term as a mediocre State Senator and half a term as a U.S Senator, about 190 actual working days, before that he was a community organizer, a B.S position if ever I heard one. I don’t think there is any comparison here at all.If they think there is let them bring it on.I look forward to it.

I was really bummed when I thought Tim Pawlenty was going to be the VP choice. I was seriously considering voting for Bob Barr on the Libertarian ticket. But then what a surprise to see this woman from Alaska, a state that I just spent a week in fishing for halibut. (wonderful) I was just so impressed with her, how she spoke, and that she is really one of us, not an elitist. So after the speech I actually got on the McCain website and donated to his campaign. I never thought I would do that. Great choice. I hope one day I get the privilege of voting for Sarah Palin for President of the United States. I haven’t been excited about voting for a ticket since Reagan. Thank you John McCain for giving us some hope.

Lynda wrote on Aug 29th: Hillary Clinton is qualified to be President or VP. Barack Obama has proven to be an intelligent, experienced leader, wise beyond his years. This woman is nowhere near qualified to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

So what qualifies Hillary or Barak? Gov. Palin has actually been doing her job in office while O’Bama has spent “company time” campaigning for the last two years. They (Clinton and O’Bama) are both stone cold-Leninists; I would rather have Palin in office even if she weren’t a Gov-we need real Americans who speak for us, not socialist idealogues destroying our great nation. Make no mistake, O’Bama, Biden or Clinton will not stand up to the threats we face.

I’m thrilled that McCain picked a woman who has succeeded on her own merits, not by riding on her husband’s coattails, as did Hillary Clinton. She’s been a businesswoman, elected official, mayor, and governor, and most importantly, she’s worked to eliminate corruption. Barak Obama’s political mentors were and are members of the Chicago Democratic machine; furthermore, he has no executive experience, and far from taking principled stands, voted “present” the majority of his time in the Illinois legislature.

This is the first major decision by possible presidents of the United States.

McCain looks like the real leader of change to me.

I may be small town but I think the whole country is hungry for wholesome.

Sara my prayers are with you.

Tammy, you’re the greatest! I knew little about Palin until I heard her speak this morning and I’ll have to say, with the possible exception of Tammy Bruce, I can’t think of another person who I’d rather have running with McCain. Well, almost, truthfully I favored Romney, but I think McCain’s choice of Palin is actually better than Romney. Romney would have exposed the charisma gap for McCain, and Palin does as well, but nobody directly compares a woman’s charisma to a man’s, so McCain won’t be diminished by this choice. I am fired up and ready to rock Obama out of the house.

I was born and raised on Chicago’s south side. I moved to Alaska 20 years ago, so I something about both areas politics and people. Sarah Palin is a great choice and will step up to the plate well.

Alaskans are different people. Self reliant to a fault, they are by and large independent thinkers and can-do people. The mainstream media doesn’t play as big a role in our thought processes as it does in most other Americans. Hence we arn’t as brainwashed as so many in the lower 48. We take our politics very seriously as we know that our vote counts as the state has only 600,000 people. As such, the politicians take us seriously as they know each vote can make them or break them.

For those who are critical of her small town experience, well, come on up and see if you could do as well in small town Alaska as she did. It isn’t easy.

The previous governor of Alaska had a jet airlineer paid fo by the state and Sarah sold it on Ebay as soon as she took office. She’s great and will be a real breath of fresh Alaskan air for the country.

This is gonna be fun!

Tammy,
Let’s make “Palin for VP” stickers/ signs.
Maybe even include “drill here, drill now”.
I am over Obama stickers/ signs.
Besides, he has big ears.
I haven’b been this excited for this election as I was after Palin’s speech.
I am actually very impressed w/ McCain’s choice.
But let’s not get carried away, no, let’s not put
him on the bumper sticker, not yet. Maybe never.
Let’s do it!!
Let’s get excited!!
Thanks,

I was predicting this pick for month in my office (I kid you not). Why? Because after stumbling upon her story, background, and yes, pictures, basic instinct kicked in.

The response from men in the 18-30 I’ve talked to is overwhelmingly positive. Sold hook line & sinker…instantly.

MCCAIN/PALIN ‘08
(very excited to type that for the first time!)

Finally, we can for someone and not against them. Governor Sarah Palin for Vice President! McCain proved he has guts. This changes everything. It will bring new energy and new people into the campaign. Their website made a lot of money today!

Sara has energized my husband, my father, me and many others. My dad and I were not going to vote. If you want to see something, go to the clintons4mccain.com, and READ what they say! Just like me, they will vote for mccain enthusiastically!

How refreshing to see a real person talking today. I love her story and have to admit I have a bit of a cruch on Palin. I too was pleasantly shocked to see McCain make such a daring and bold choice for the second highest office in the land. Give me a smart person with little experience over a Washington insider any day!

I was warming up to McCain, but this put me 100% behind him. I have always voted, but never been involved in the process. I am going to work my heart out for this campaign. Bring on the McCain/Palin bumper stickers. Yea!!!!!!

The comments of Mary Alice show what liberals truly believe about the people of this country- that we are too dumb, too ignorant, and too willing to follow the leader. It’s unfortunate for her and her ilk, though, that it’s their chosen “messiah” that spews only empty words founded in the basest of ideas regarding our country. We are a great people and John McCain and Sarah Palin will make great leaders, regardless what the enemies within might think.

What a difference a day makes! I can’t wait for the veep debate to watch Biden bluster against this articulate, bright, clean nice-looking lady. Yes Tammy, she is the perfect choice.

As a Canadian I have to say she does have foreign affairs experience at least in the sense that she knows Canada and has been in the thick of the choice for a pipeline route. She is also pro free trade and, best of all, a hockey mom!

Won’t fly, Ed, because it is simply not true.

PS. If anyone’s issue is lack of experience, then I can’t see any sense in voting for Obama.

Those of you who are saying Palin is a poor choice because of inexperience are forgetting one thing: Congress has a 13% approval rating. The public is tired of the same tired old politicians with their big-government solutions that never seem to help AND they are tired of business as usual in Washington.

Palin is a no-nonsense woman who has stro
