Throwing Hope and Change Under the Bus
Obama’s choice of Washington insider Joe Biden is only one sign that the Messiah of Hope and Change is really just a Politician with Slogans. One of the more revealing statements by a senior Obama adviser reveals how Barry has grown “impatient” with his campaign staff who actually care about his, apparently temporary, boring, sloganny rhetoric meant to simply fool the bitter and clingy.
The candidate of change went with the status quo:
A senior Obama adviser, speaking on condition of anonymity, said his boss has expressed impatience with what he calls a “reverence” inside his campaign for his message of change and new politics. In other words, Obama is willing — even eager — to risk what got him this far if it gets him to the White House.
Prior to the Obama-Biden statement in Springfield today, Major Garrett noted that it appears Obama is willing to “sacrifice” his original message about change. That’s generous. I would suggest it’s not a sacrifice at all—but a simple revealing of the Real Barack Obama and one more sign that The One is like All the Others.

Well said Tammy, I think the Dems battle will only get tougher, and I think Biden will only make it worse. I’m lovin it.
Obama did a better job picking his VP than he did picking his Pastor and church of 20 yrs.
I just hope Biden isn’t a follower of James Cone as well.

The only “change” would be from bad to worse. I suspect it is a good strategy to abandon the change rhetoric in favor of something else. Besides, if we really want change, I’m afraid we’ll have to do something at the other end of the block. The White House is not the problem.
How right you are. I just read the Lanny Davis blog and left a similar message in the comments. A politician in Washington since 1988 is not exactly CHANGE. I loved the fact that the announcement was to have been made when the nation was awake and it was made at 3am- Well, I guess he meant the German nation because it was 9am there.
Thank you Tammy for your thoughts. I enjoy reading them and having the opportunity to comment.
Obama’s choice of Joe Biden to be his running mate reminds me of that classic scene from “The Dirty Dozen” where Lee Marvin chose Donald Sutherland, the dumbest member of the Dozen, to play a general at the paratroop school. You knew it was going to be a train wreck and you couldn’t stop laughing. Biden’s new nickname should be “Pinkley” in honor of Sutherland and his character.
What we are seeing is The Incredible Shrinking Candidate. The fake god routine fell apart in Berlin, and now the Chicago Machine Politician is emerging to claw his way to the White House with champion groin-kicker Joe Biden.
Tammy,
It seems from my point of view that Joe Biden is one of the few so-called “heavyweights” in the Democratic party who is willing to run as Obama’s running mate because Delaware is one of the few states that will allow him to run for Vice-President and the U.S Senate at the same time.
This allows him the luxury of a prime seat on the Axlerod/Plouffe-engineered Titanic.
Time is running out on this so-called hope, and his campaign is losing support faster than Freddie Mac is losing shareholders.
What I don’t understand is the “Mainstream Media” seems to believe that Obama has such a strong “influence” on the American voter. Just because a guy like Chris Matthews has a”tingle” up his leg, they seem to think regular guys like myself do not know a “con-job” when I see one. I wonder if Biden will keep his tingle going….?
They (Axlerod,Pluoffe, and Soros) are trying to jam a guy, who has redefined the level of “minimum requirements” to a new low. That just offends me. I do not care about skin color or sexuality, I care about the big integrity issues such as Government stealing…like taxes.
I am a former submariner, enlisted man, that IS NOT overly fond of Officers in general. My experience has shown me that most care more for their careers than for the men and women that are under them. VERY few are real leaders. That being said, if the DEMS had picked Hillary instead, she would have gotten my vote just for her moxie during the primaries…….
By the way, I admire YOUR moxie about as much as my wife would allow me too…..:)
Why are the media, and Dems in general so angry?
They have only themselves to blame for blindly rushing to the alter with someone that has such a shallow record of acheivement.
Now they must expend a tremendous amount of energy justifying their choice.
Joe Biden as as a second banana is a farce. “he is not a yes man”…”he disagrees”….”he will stand up to His Holiness”……This is the kind of unmitigated trash that is going to be coming our way.
I hate to break this his loyal followers, but….anyone who REALLY disagrees with Axlerod and Plouffe, will, in fact be marginalized.
P.S.
Just saw a headline…..Biden is a STATESMAN WITH SOUND JUDGEMENT…..
sound judgement, or a man with a back-up plan?
Excuse me, but I gotta go throw-up.
Regards
James Grady
In 2006 the stench of Republicanism was removed from our country’s legislative branches.
In 2009 the stench of the Bush administration will forever be removed from our country—our country’s next goal is to remove the stench of Republican neo-communism from our communities, schools, churches, and homes.
January 2009 will mark the beginning of the end of the Republican neo-communism movement.
God bless America!!
When Biden made his acceptance speech I wonder if he got it from some one Else’s speech. He was nailed once before for plagiarism. And who wants a president that thinks there are 57 states?
Barack and Michelle are *hoping* to *change* addresses! So you see, he hasn’t totally thrown hope and change out of his campaign. But seriously, hasn’t it always just been about getting elected for Obama? I have never actually heard anyone clearly describe what hope and change he was pushing. . . Well, there is that redistribution of wealth deal but I find that neither hopeful, nor a change I can believe in. I think Obama made a fine choice in Biden, reflective of his values which are all firmly based in expediency!
I was actually surprised at what a terrified choice this was for Obama. Hope and Change are nonsense concepts in politics. Getting things done is grunt work, including hard nosed compromise. Obama showed, with this pick, his absolute terror at having to live up to his own pronouncements about himself. Biden was a safe, scared, inexperienced, uncompromising choice by a man who finds himself and his campaign clearly not ready to lead the greatest country in the history of the world.
I would like to bring to peoples attention the efforts of the Democrats to pretend that they and Senator Obama have no plans or intentions regarding our 2nd Ammendment rights. They have lost any credibility they ever had with me.

He is a great orator. He should of been a preacher. Hope but no substance. That pitch was not working anymore. Enter Biden. Hope and change goes out the door. Incidently, does anyone know Bidens wife’s family history. Too bad Barrak did not pick her. She seems to me the better choice.
I keep hearing about “change” from the Obama camp, but he keeps going back to the old, entrenched, Democratic party ways.
For example, Obama talks about how bad it is to accept money from lobbyists but Biden has accepted $5,133,072 in contributions from lawyers and lobbyists since 2003.
It’s just the same old politics in a different package.
Joe “The Smirk” Biden will turn off more voters than he will bring to the ticket. The guy has spent his entire career in the Senate and has no experience in any type of executive position. The Democrats have soundly defeated “Smirk” every time he has run in the party presidential primaries. Why would they now think he is capable of being President if something were to happen to a President Obama?

Obama is and always has been all smoke and mirrors. How could he be anything else given his lack of a resume? His snub of HRC is very funny and I hope her supporters make good on their threat to vote McCain.
Obama’s very own reverend Wright said “Obama is a politican”. He will say and do ‘whatever’ just to get himself elected. Its been months now, and this is becoming more obvious every day. Obama sees himself as ‘King of America’. and anyone crazy enough to vote for him now, will regret it later.
Here is an Obama preveiw…Goggle this: ‘OBAMA’S GLOBAL POVERTY PLAN’. Senate Bill S.2433 in which Obama plans to tax American’s upwards of $845 BILLION DOLLARS!!! How will YOUR family pay for this??? Are you RICH??? Make over $42,000 a yr. Obama JUST voted to raise your taxes.
Obama voters are going to get just what they deserve!!! and have your checkbook handy!
I am so happy that the Dems chose Biden. This will seal their fate!
I am happy with the Biden choice, at least, if Obama wins there will be an adult in the room when the foreign policy issues come up.
Ref. Comment by DK.
Mr. Obama is the communist here. Republicans have always wanted to shrink government and hold the citizens accountable for their own progression. The Democrats are the ones who want sole conrol of what the citizenry can and can’t do, MARXISM / SOCIALISM at its finest. Get your facts straight bro.
Well Dennis, I guess with the possibility of Dems being in the White house and congress perhaps you’ll get that double digit raise you’ve been looking for in the welfare check. Lets face it, thats all they are going to do is double social programs, degrade the military and kiss the asses of any foreign leader who tells them to. Just remember that every election following a democratic presidency generally ends with landslide victories for the GOP.
He should have picked Hilary…..Not that I was going to vote Democrat anyway.
But Biden????
Give me a break.
Can you say 4 more years
Thanks Obama for that misinformed choice you made.
Joe Biden is the gift that will keep on giving. Interesting how the more things “Change” the more they stay the same.
Someone should count the number of times Obama has used the word “change.” What exactly is he going to change? He keeps throwing the word around but I’m not hearing a lot of clearcut ideas coming out of his mouth. I think Obama is betting that Americans are so fed up with the current goverment that they can be fooled by the overuse of this one word. There is one thing I know for certain about Obama, he’s not telling the whole truth. He says that he is going to give healthcare to all Americans and at the same time, he is also going to lower their taxes. Really? How can both of these objectives happen at the same time? Who is going to pay for the “free” heathcare? How does he think “free” healthcare is paid for in Canada and Europe? Obama, why don’t you tell the American people how this “free” healthcare system works? “Free” healthcare is paid through taxes. As an American living in Canada, I have discovered that Canadians pay slightly more in taxes than Americans in order to have their “free” healthcare. There are only 36 million Canadians, though and Canada does not have nearly the federal budget that the U.S. has. Think defense! So times the number of people to be covered by “free” heathcare by almost 10, add a defense budget, and what do you get? Lower taxes? Really? Is this what Obama means by “change?”
Well I think the Democrats should nominate Michelle Obama to be President rather than Senator Obama because it is quite plain to see that she is the leader and he the follower.
Its really going to be hard to campaign for “change in Washington” standing alongside a guy who has been in the Senate for 36 years.
Regardless of Obama’s VP pick, the debates will show he is all style and no substance when forced to provide details of how “The Great One” will solve all of the world problems of today. Obama will be “exposed” to all of the informed rational voters. He is simply an empty suit with no experience, no accomplishments, no ideas, and lacking in good judgment. People voting simply for change should realize that change can also be for the worst.
I’m glad I stocked up on popcorn. Between Urkel and The Hair Club for Men Biden, this is going to be rich.
Personal attacks again, yep, that’s a democrat/liberal/socialist … Our country’s 2006 Democratic legislature … what is their current approval rating 14%, look in the mirror Mr. Kolson.
And while I’m at it … Gore lost and so did Kerry/Edwards … Get over it! Thank God!!
Biden will make no difference.
Mr Kolson. “Republican neo-communism” Strange choice of words given the stench of B.O.
Dennis you need to look up what communism is.
Wealth redistrubition.
Government telling you how much you can make for your proffesion.
Government telling you what food you can and can not buy.
Suggest you look real hard at the policies being passed by both parties.
Sounding off in a forum of educated people just shows how little you really know.
Amazing the price of gas doubled at the pump from 3 years ago real nice change.
Amzing how many people have lost their homes nice change their.
A lot of it to do with your so called democrat controled congress.

In response to Dennis Kolson: Perhaps you should look up the word “communism” and make sure you have the definition right. Perhaps you have the definition correct and you just have your political parties confused. Either way, your post doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
Every election we hear how important “change” is, but it remains the same old thing. You might think the young voters seriously want “change” but how do they define change and is it all that important to them? I saw a young female democratic activist being interviewed this week end. She appeared to be in her early 20’s. The interviewer asked her if she was concerned that naming Biden as Obama’s running mate was the opposite of change, given his length of time in office. She stated that it isn’t the length of time the person has been in office (McCain has been there too long) but the type of experience they have. In other words, Republican experience is bad and Democrat experience is good. Older people don’t have a monopoly on cynicism.
“Republican neo-communism”?
What kind hypocritical garbage is this?
Communism is the goal of socialism, and which party is the party of socialists?
Neo-communism, YEAH RIGHT!
Oh, we are a little hostile today, aren’t we? Does anything make you people happy?
I guess you all want another 4 years of distrust, humiliation, war, lies and deceit. You are welcome to it. It is your choice but deal me out. It sounds like you are afraid to take a chance on making things better.
I also hope the Democratic party can unite against the forces that seek to destroy it. I am a bit disappointed that Hillary Clinton was not selected as the delegate. It would have been entertaining. However, if everyone had played fairly from the very beginning of the election process and not jumped the gun with regard to the official start of voting, things may have been different. The party is to blame for states being omitted or delegates shared. No one else. Shot itself in the foot from day one.
I understand why Obama did not choose Hillary Clincon as VP. First of fall, I doubt she would have taken it. While a Clinton is never number 2, it would have made a good stepping stone to the next presidential race. And can anyone tell me why Obama should have called Bill Clinton and asked his advice on who to select as VP? I guess one needs permisison to reject his wife. Hillary while articulate functions like a steamroller. I cannot imagine why Obama would not want do deal with that on a daily basis, can you? I suspect she would challenge his power to lead at every opportunity whether it was conscious or not. He made the right decision.
I like Barack Obama. He represents progress. Look at what he has accomplished in his short lifetime. From middle class child of a white single mother to Havard graduate, Senator, and possibly
President. Do you think this happened by accident? It is the American Dream come true and he wants to share a better future with all Americans. Is that so hard to understand? Are we so cynical that we have given up trusting anyone? Are we looking for the lesser of two evils? That is sad.
I hope McCain selects Romney. That way if something happens to McCain, we will at least have someone of character to replace him. I have little to say about McCain. He is an opportunist and I question his sincerity and honesty. He seems obscessed about keeping the Iraqi war going until such time that we might find a solution that makes it appear to the world that we have won. IThere will be no winners in this war. Think about it.
Our country is broken. Someone has to have the courage to try to fix it, regardless of what people say.
Dennis Kolson’s ranting comment about neo-communism and the Republicans is ridiculous. Anyone who objectively views the Democratic party’s platform this election will see that it contains many of the hallmarks of SOCIALISM, especially the income redistribution schemes cleverly disguised under taxes. As far as universal health care goes, show me one country who has a better government run system than ours. There are none. Your delusion about the Republicans Dennis is off the mark, but Obama, Pelosi and the Democrats will usher in a real communist system given the chance.
By the way Dennis, Pelosi and the Democrats have been in control of Congress since 2006. They haven’t gotten one thing done since they took control and Congress’ approval rating is the lowest it has ever been and is less than half of President Bush’s. Nancy and the gang have been in control and set the agenda during all the recent domestic problems. If Americans want a change in government direction, it needs to start with the branch of government that actually (Constitutionally mandated) is rsponsible for domestic issues, the House of Representatives and the Senate. Pull your head out of the MSM/George Soros spin fog and look at the reality going on.
Darn, I just bought the ‘Keep The Change’ bumper sticker.
Ooh well, I’ll get more opportunity to laugh.
This is what most of us have known for a while. I hope that McCain picks Kay Bailey Hutchinson for VP.
PS. Obama can keep the Change!!
Ah yes Joe Biden, the champion of the ATF. Ever since the Waco hearings his defense of the ATF’s burning of the women and children at the Branch Davidian compound has been seared into my mind. Great choice!
It’s been fun to see the Dems try to put on a brave face about their UNITY. Hey, NOBAMA, I’m another one of those registered Dems that has absolutely no intention of voting for you. I am not an Obamunnist. I will never be an Obamunnist.
I have no idea what Biden stands for, but that’s okay because apparently no one else does. That might explain why he only got 9,000 votes as opposed to Hillary who got 18,000,000. What’s the matter Obamunnist’s………………..she likes those free give away programs too. With her, you’d at least have had a chance. Enjoy that convention………………..the money used to pay for that could have fed everyone for 3 months.
OBAMA/BIDEN =CHECKMATE!!!!!!!
You better call KARL for some advice!!!!
I think this will really become interesting when we know who McCain has chosen. Either way we will have change, but the real question will be who brings the best balance to the table becuase the mid-party voters will decide this (the extreme left and right have already made up their minds).

Boy, do you need a wake up call! Just for a tiny inkling of a moment, I thought you were in dream-land counting sheep, but quickly realized you weren’t counting sheep. You are a sheep following your leader who hasn’t a clue as to where he is going or what he is doing. Obama is likened to a leader of a cult with his little sheep following. It’s sad to see how desperate these sheep are to have a “change”, but don’t realize the change they will get if Obama wins the presidency. I’ve yet to hear anything concrete come out of his mouth, but “uh, ah, uh, uh…we need change”! How naive can one be to not know anything about what this person brings to the table, but are willing to give him a vote. I cannot vote for one who wants to turn this country into a socialistic nation or has his low values to human life. Pray that he doesn’t win for you will not get to “change” your mind once he gets in.
What’s wrong Tammy, afraid to post that last message!!
People like you don’t care about any real change. People like you are only interested in keeping people divided. Obama is the first candidate and only one in this campaign talking about bringing people together. To me, that is REAL CHANGE!! So you can rant and make your little comments all you like, but its not going to “CHANGE” any of the real Obama supporters minds out there. GO OBAMA!
I have been worried for some time now that Obama would pick Hillary or Bill Richardson for VP. I think either one would have been unbeatable. Now that he has picked Biden, I’m not worried anymore.
AMEN, SISTER!!!!
OK, what have I missed? The Republicans are a neo-communism party? What left wing blogger is saying this? Or better yet, what radio show personality (AirAmerica) is saying this? That comment is proof that the educational system is tilted and or in serious need of repair. The Republicans, no scratch that, conservatives have been for limited or slashed taxes, being budget savy, for personal liberties and freedoms etc…. Which party is for the new socialism (global warming) initiatives (yes sadly too many of each party support the polls? Which part has proudly proclaimed a sock it to the rich guy mentality, while being rich themselves, all in the name of a vote?
Where’s the truth? The fact that the government on average hauls in 30 to 50 cents per gallon of gas more than “big” oil ( 5 to 12 cents ). The fact that our, “we’re going to get more done “democratic” controlled congress” has done nothing, but do all they can to instill distrust, misinformation and demonize the USA, ok, well look at their choice for President, that shouldn’t surprise as much as it has. New drilling won’t solve the problem today? The President, yes with a capital P, spoke of repealling the offshore restrictions and the price per barrel of oil, fell, no new billions of barrels produced, just the, that’s right, speculation, ooops, is that a p.c., bad word to use, that we want, should and would start pulling oil out of the ground. These idiots in congress etc. aren’t that dumb, or, I pray they are, because if they know that the price would fall, and they are doing any and everything possible to avoid a vote on it and get the oil, what’s really behind their reasoning?
The only change Obama is after is his home address.
Am I the only one who notices that Obama is the same compaign in ‘08 that Bush used in 2000.
They both come on as charismatic, likeable outsiders who want to fix Washington. They profess their strong family values and deep Christian beliefs. Then it comes time for the real political battle and we get Biden; or, Cheney. Consumate insiders.
I didn’t support Bush in 2000. I can’t support the mirror image in ‘08.
“Change” was Clinton’s mantra 16 yrs ago. His first term was only saved from drowning in its own lack of momentum and result by the dot.com boom. In the end he exposed himself as just a politician–willing to take credit but reject any responsibility.
Obama’s choice for VP merely pts out yet again the factionalized nature of the Dems. Radical fringe groups got Barack the nomination, but he knows he has to seduce the moderate middle ino order to get to the White House. Biden’s “record” is highly questionable, given the rhetoric of the primary season. He’s a hack job who has spent most of his political life running for President and criticising the policies of those who beat him. In short: Biden is a boring choice–but there were seemingly very few non-boring people to choose from in the first place. More than anything, Biden represents a quack bit of surgical tape attempting to hold together a broken party. The more Barack splurts his gospel of platitudes, the more tapioca he appears.
And McCain may be even worse! Both campaigns seem to be falling over themselves to avoid doing anything dynamic! Attack ads! Business as usual. The farce of American politics begins to resemble the French model more and more. Egad.
I was born and raised in Chicago, so I know all about the “machine.” Obama has never been about “hope” and “change,” other than his hope for higher office and a desire for a change in his address. Ms. Bruce is correct - Obama isn’t sacrificing anything. To sacrifice is to give up a greater value for a lesser value, and the only thing Obama values is Obama.
Obama peaked too soon, and people are beginning to see him for what he really is: a socialist flim-flam man. McCain/Hutchison in a landslide.
If you need any reasons to vote against Obama, find them here:
http://www.colony14.net
Ah… Does anyone remember that little pointless war we’re in that costs $10 billion a month in our tax dollars? No matter how you try to rationalize it, IT DOES NOT MAKE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE SAFER. I can understand you’re all republicans and you’ll follow your party to the death, but surely you’re not all brain dead. Well… maybe you all are. You voted a knucklehead into the white house twice. Wasting my tax dollars since 2003.
How can you trust a man, Obama, who cannot make up his mind as to what change means. Bidan, give me a break. Another showing by Obama that we DO NOT know this man. I trust his wife less than
I trust him and there is no word to describe how deep that lack of trust goes.
All across the United States of America, people are finally wising up to affirimative action. They are tired of people getting jobs just because of affirmitative action. The Democratic Party is in love with affiramitive action. Why else would you have an empty suit from the Chicago Political Machine of Richard Daley running for POTUS. Were the MSM not so in love with this fresh face, albeit just a different color, slogans that sound great and yet are so undefined that even a 5 year old could see through them, he wouldn’t be where he is today. BO is affiramitive action at its worst, yet people are still blind to the facts. Barnum was right, suckers are born every minute. Or you can fool some of the people all the time, all of the people some of the time, but fool all the people all of the time, well that is a different story.
Why change? Why continue the course that we are on. Can you honestly tell me that we are better off now than we were before? Can you honestly say that we’re going in the right direction? Is Obama the answer? Maybe not, BUT I for one will take the chance on trying to get away from the path that we are on now and hopefully restore some of what has been lost over the last 8 years. You guys keep spewing the same nonsense without really delving into the issues. If you think this is an attack on Mccain you are wrong. I would have voted for him in 2000 but since the 2000 election, he has done a 180 on so many issues. Now he just seems to be an angry, confused man spewing the same trash while promoting this idea of fear to try to get the drones to do the same thing that they have always done. Obama is not perfect. He has made many mistakes just like everyone else, but he does offer soem hope in his voice. I believe him when he says that he wants to make this a better place and I also believe that he will do everything in his power try to make it happen.
Who are these people that I keep hearing about that have not yet decided who they will vote for in November? After all these months of advertising, debating , sarcastic remarks and the like what more do you need to make a choice ? These must be the same people that take an hour to order dinner at mcdonalds!
Obama picked Biden because he needed an “attack dog” to fight against McCain. Obama knows he can’t go toe to toe with McCain alone….
Who wants CHANGE when we can continue down the path of destruction with McSame?!
Hey, if you enjoyed the last 8 years, vote Republican. If war, government corruption and a sagging economy is your thing, vote Republican. Bush and McCain are one in the same and CHANGE may not be for you.
