Why Obama Shouldn’t Choose Claire McCaskill as His Running Mate

By Betsy Newmark

Claire McCaskill appeared on “FOX News Sunday” as a spokeswoman for the Obama campaign. There have been a few murmurings about McCaskill as a vice presidential running mate because she supported Obama early and is a woman. Well, her performance yesterday indicates why she would be a poor choice.

When pressed about Georgia, McCaskill criticized McCain for being so far out in front on the issue:

WALLACE: Senator McCaskill, I just want to pick up on the first part of your statement. Are you suggesting that somehow John McCain undercut President Bush and Secretary of State Rice?

McCASKILL: I think him doing press releases and sending some of his political allies to Georgia — I think some of it began to ring like a political campaign instead of principled and strong diplomacy, and very — and very strong and principled positions that we must have, but there is only one president.

And there does — there’s a line you can cross in terms of being presumptuous. They accused Barack Obama of being presumptuous for going to Europe and meeting with our allies. What is presumptuous is to try to undercut, in any way, the very difficult and tricky work that President Bush and Secretary Rice are trying to do right now.

Gee, so I guess that Senator Obama has never ever criticized the current Bush foreign policy because he recognizes that there “is only one president.”

Sure.

And now every time Obama is out there criticizing Bush’s policies, he can be reminded that Claire McCaskill thinks that this is presumptuous interference in “difficult and tricky work.”

Please…Please take Claire as a VP candidate…PLEASE. That way Missouri can get rid of her as our Senator. Sghe is one of the bigger mistakes MO made since electing a dead guy for Senator…yes I know it was too late to name a new candidate, but, really….

Betsy, you forget one thing. It’s OKAY for them to be presumptuous. They’re the elite, they always know what’s best for everybody. Reference Jimmy Carter, Jesse Jackson, et al.

Being presumptuous is not the issue. It’s just that, if you’re not one of them, you aren’t QUALIFIED to be presumptuous. Yes, I’m sure that’s what she meant.

Is that being presumptuous?

the Democrats have always stood for free speech. Unless the person speaking is not a Deomcrat. Same old story, I wish America would WAKE UP and realize that Communism is NOT the way to go.

Thank you Betsy for pointing out just one example of the typical hypocrisy displayed by the Democratic party…

BLACK THEOLOGY AND THE OBAMA’S

On the very first page of the preface he states; “There will be no peace in America until whites begin to hate their whiteness, asking from the depths of their being :’”How can we become Black’.”

I’ve only read a few pages so far, but I have seen “whitey” used at least twice.

This book really helps to explain where Rev Wright and his congregation (including the Obamas) are coming from. It explains why his congregation is hootin and hollerin when he makes his anti-white and anti-America comments.

In my opinion, there is no way the Obamas sat in this church for 20 yrs unless they agreed with the Black Theology. It would be like someone going to temple for 20 yrs and then trying to convince me that they didn’t share the Jewish beliefs.

Why shouldn’t Obama choose this woman as VP??? If he chooses a woman, and the name is NOT Hillary, there will be 18 Million reasons. I hope he does. They’ll get P%$$-Off and all vote for McCain.

TO SELECT ANOTHER WOMAN, OTHER THEN CLINTON, FOR VP WOULD BE A SLAP IN THE FACE TO HER AND SUPPORTERS! A BIG NEGATIVE FOR THE PARTY! IF OBAMA IS SO SMART HE WILL NOT HESITATE AND WILL PICK HILLARY. HE NEEDS ALL THE HELP HE CAN GET AND SHE IS THE BEST OF THE REST! DISILLUSIONED EX DEMOCRAT.

I think that Obama has revealed at Saddleback that he crafts his opinion to fit his audience.
Having no solid convictions makes that possible. As a last gasp attempt to win the presidency, I
think he has already chosen Hillary Clinton for VP. That would explain the inordinate amount of attention given them at the upcoming gala.

Mo. residents really blew it when they put this woman in office. To think Obama is seriously considering this woman is total nonsense. You guys must really be
hurting for news stories.

If Obama picks some female other than Clinton he will be DOA come November. It will look like a pure political SLAP at the Clintons and it will not go over well. It will show that he considers women not as equals, but as second class citizens. My bet, the Govenor of Ohio Strickland. If he wins Ohio, he is President. Strickland is very popular in Ohio and sure to make that State competitive.

I find it amazing that the replies here all like Republican talking points.

You do realize don’t you that you all sound like a bunch of myna birds just squacking what your masters tell you to.

Your speculations are amusing.

I love it when a Republican toady tries to tell the presidential candidate for the other party what to do when they know darn well they would never ever consider voting for them.

Wouldn’t vote for him but I would hire him as my community organizer
