John Edwards: A Hypocrite From the Beginning

Just a couple of days ago Ann Coulter chimed in about John Edwards’ Beverly Hills romp, referring to the philanderer-in-question as “faggy.” GLAAD, aka The Gay Gestapo, predictably blew a “we have no sense humor” gasket (not that anything else, oh, like the murder of gays by Islamist regimes, should be occupying their time). Ann, irreverently funny, is also slightly wrong. Edwards isn’t “faggy;” he’s a smarmy, disgusting, unfaithful metrosexual. I have a tiny feeling, though, they’re going to have trouble raising any “Coulter Cash” on that one.
Recent events centering around a morally superior politician’s adulterous affair and love child offer us an age-old reminder: those who claim to be better than everyone else, who point their arrogant, prideful finger away from themselves, want you to look away from what they’d rather not have you see–themselves. A timely reminder on both the establishment media and political fronts.
Last week a major American newspaper issued a censorship order for its bloggers related to the story of the John Edwards cheatfest at the Beverly Hills Hilton, and Barack Obama ended his liberally triumphant Obamessiah World Tour by shunning our wounded troops and apologizing for America’s actions.
With Edwards, The Los Angeles Times could learn a few things from The Hartford Courant.
While the Times decided the liberal newspapery thing to do was issue its censorship notice about the John Edwards mistress/love child rendezvous, The Courant published a column about the whole sordid affair and journalistic hypocrisy. They also noted whatever Edwards was doing at the hotel until 2:30 in the morning is awfully strange behavior for the (previously?) likely Attorney General in an Obama administration.
FOX News also did what no other outlet bothered to do–they went to the hotel and actually interviewed a security guard who confirmed The Enquirer’s story.
I always found the Edwards “Two Americas” campaign theme odd. Now it makes a bit more sense coming from a man who apparently needs “Two Americas” for two families.
Edwards’ behavior shouldn’t surprise anyone; he’s been a hypocrite from the beginning. I’ve noted on many occasions that the Edwardses were the most disgusting, least ethical, and most creepily opportunistic politicians in the campaign, from either side of the aisle. Many in media have expressed their pity in this situation for Elizabeth Edwards. While her husband’s behavior is disgusting, she knew, and knows, what she’s getting. Forgive me, but I reject the infantilizing of women, especially those as smart as Elizabeth. The real victims in this pit of malignant narcissism, lies and deception are the children involved.
Let’s not forget the moral outrage of Edwards, including a demand that FOX News be shut out of presidential debates over supposed unfair election coverage, and the absurdity of using Ann Coulter’s humor as a fundraising tool, with complaints of how bad she is for the decent and nice America that compelled the Edwardses in their self-important egalitarian quest.
In addition to now knowing his fairness includes an effort to make sure more women got a piece of the John pie, most of us thought Edwards and his wife just needed to get a sense of humor. Little did we know he also had a serious projection issue. Edwards is simply a man who claimed the supposed moral high ground on all issues while apparently abandoning his dying wife for a convenient piece of…one of those other Americas.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense could see Edward for what he is. What is particularly disturbing about this whole sordid mess is the blanket media silence on the issue - a reverse censorship of sorts.
Tammy, I’ve said before, in the past few general elections there has been a nearly 50/50 split btw the “left” and the “right” which is more than somewhat disturbing. Add to that, some of the right helped elect Billy Jeff. Twice. Because of some grievances against GHWB. Nearly gave us Algore in ‘00. Not quite so closely, nearly gave us Kerry/Edwards. Now some more truth comes out about the Kerry/Edwards “philosophy” of life. And still, the moderate and somewhat left leaning Republicans b*tch and moan about Senator McCain and his faults. And about the incompetence of San Fran Nan and Dingey Harry whom they helped receive control of Congress in ‘06 when they got POd about RINOS and set out to teach them a lesson and voted for candidates other than Republicans. Now they complain about the results…THAT THEY HELPED BRING ABOUT. Airing grievances at the ballot box is the American right and process, but to do it out of emotion and hormones instead of intelligent thought and reasoning gets us what we have now. And in the midst of all of this, America continues to cry desperately for men and women of integrity, honor and character in various elected offices. Makes me want to line up the lot and initiate an old fashioned Three Stooges “Group Slap”. But, they probably wouldn’t get the point anyway. God help US. We apparently can’t. Of course, I’m not saying John McCain is perfect. Not hardly. But to throw him under the bus for his faults will get us Mr. Obama with even greater faults and incompetencies and lead us (US) into an even bigger train wreck, from which we may not recover. Think I’ll go build a ’50s bomb shelter…
The comment about “shunning the troops” what rock were you under? The troops have been shunned for sometime now. When they were sent to Iraq it was the beginning of “shunness”. There was no sense of direction by both the US govt. and us (the people). Britain was the only one that stood early with the US. Other countries were on the fence and felt vulnerable to the same type of consequences we have and will suffer. So what true allies do we have or is that globally being redefined? This major war issue and all the other international mishaps for us as a county did not begin with Barrack Obama and YOU surely should not start there when fingers are being pointed. Your lack of journalistic objectivity proves my point that it is no longer a true art of provocative thought and true discussion. Now it’s what are you being told to write in the am mtgs. and who’s pulling those strings. Tougher economic times for all of us(including you) but I will continue to have high standards regarding integrity and will not be spoon fed propaganda. Please vote responsibly.

Oh and Mccain didnt have an affair?
On a decidedly left leaning website, an open letter from Elizabeth Edwards on the death of Tony Snow was recently published. In all fairness, it was a very compassionate and decent commentary on the life and death of Mr. Snow. While history tells us that Tony Snow was despised on this particular web site, the vast majority of comments on Mrs. Edwards’ letter ignored their loathing of Mr. Snow and instead complimented Mrs. Edwards on her compassion and decency.
Now, the real victims of this torrid affair are J. Edwards’ families. With all Elizabeth Edwards did to help her husband’s candidacy, to be betrayed and humiliated in this way is beyond contempt. Yet, I have yet to hear a single voice of outrage at the way Edwards has betrayed his wife. “Mrs. Edwards, how does it feel under the bus?”

Tammy Bruce said just what I thought of John Edwards. But remember, there are more John Edwards who stood next him as “Candidates.” The one who could buy multi-million dollar house in a fancy Chicago while the rest of us work our tails off all our lives and even make more dollars than HIM but still can’t afford it. This country needs to wake up and see what’s most important in all of us, honesty and integrity.

You are assuming too much. The rest of the media are not covering the story until and unless they get their facts straight. If they had hard facts proving this story, other than a security guard who might just be trying to make a few bucks, it would be all over the news. Will you apologize if you are proved wrong? You may find Mr Edwards disgusting - it’s a matter of taste - but there are those of us who find you and your good buddy Ann Coulter equally as revolting.
Most men in power use it for a bit of sex, as history has shown. Fortunately for Prez Bush, he’s such an unappetizing moron, no self-respecting woman would even wink an eye at him. Otherwise we could have had a valid cause to impeach that monster, since apparently breaking constitutional laws aren’t a good enough cause.
Tammy Bruce speaks the truth in its most unvarnished form. Edwards has always been the most unctuous of charatcers. He made his money chasing ambulances and suing doctors, often settling cases for large sums that would be dubious at trial even in the hillbilly laden courtrooms of North Carolina, as insurance companies couldnt take the risk of loss accompanying trials in such places. He and his ilk are largely responsible for the rising cost of health care in many venues, as the cost of malpractice insurance.
Edwards’ chiding about “Two Americas” is a joke, as he lives as large as Gore does, burning cash and energuy at every opportunity. The house at George Bush’s Crawford ranch is smaller than Edwards gymnasium he built adjacent to his oversized montsrosity of a residence. It is wholly fitting that this waste of humanity is exposed for what he is - an opportunist and self-absorbed moral infant, but then again he may be the perfect foil for the ultimate empty suit, Barack Obama
You know you are printing something close to the truth when you get liberal spouting off and looking like children throwing a tantrum. And from what I read on the comments there must be some truth here. The only two things I like to add is;
First, Mr. Edwards could not run the his state as govenor. So what makes you think he can handle larger responsibilities?
2) Why is it that the same paper that dispises censorship enacts it and liberals call it “fact finding”? I guess what ever helps you sleep better at night.
My liberal friends please please think of the long term issue here. If this is true and he would possibly abandon an outstanding women like Elizabeth what will he leave you for?

I feel so badly for Elizabeth and what she has been through and still has to go through. IF these allegations are true, then I think that she will lose the will and the perseverence to fight her cancer. He would have to live with the guilt.

The only “two worlds” that exist are those between Mr. Edward’s and honest people. This
two worlds” man who drives gas guzzlers, flies around in private jets, makes millions, has fancy mansions, pays $200 for haircuts and thousands for suits and spends his time stealing $$$ thru hedge funds is a HYPOCRITE. He was easy to spot from the beginning, but as the media’s darling (any far left liberal is), he has always been protected. Obama’s the only one who has him beat with it comes to the media’s love fest and protection!

The McCain “affair” was a rumor stirred up by the New York Times with no evidence. In Edwards’ case there is plenty of evidence and it doesn’t go to print in the LA Times, and its staff is instructed not to write about it.
Not sure what more you need to know about the MSM.

And addendum to my addendum: Johnny Breck couldn’t be bothered with the Duke Lacrosse Hoax (though neither could Elizabeth Dole,) and that fact puts him in the same neighborhood with Michael Nifong. Nebbish little putz.
Considering that there’s currently an article about a Bigfoot sighting on Fox News’s front page, I can’t say that idiocy like calling GLAAD the “Gay Gestapo” surprises me coming from this source.
Incidentally, after the Madrassa incident and the repeated mis-labeling of Mark Foley as a Democrat during his molestation scandal, why should we believe a word you say? What gives you a single iota more credibility than the National Inquiry that ‘broke’ this story (along with another interview with Batboy)?

I am an Independet. I read as much as I can from both sides. The Conservative side can be just plain nasty. Read your own words. Not much ‘Compassionate Conservative’ there. Senator McCain-whom I admire- goaded Obama into his overseas trip. Which, by the way he (Obama) represented this country very well. How can anyone be so ignorant as to think Obama or anyone in his place would not visit our military wounded because of lack of press or photographers? Obam’s reason, which makes sense, is he didn’t want a visit with the troops becoming a political hoora. Regardless of whether or not Obama is elected president up till now there has been a high road between him and McCain. Your column on Edwards is just plain low road nasty. I may disagree with, yet I have great respect for Conservatives such as George Will, Cal Thomas, Pat Buchannan and the late William F. Buckley. They are conservatives who write with intellectual passion not guttersnipe meanness. I didn’t think there was any comparable with Ann Coulter until I read you.

I love the use of misdirection from the opposing side of a story like this. Like turning the story about Edwards’ hotel affair into why Pres. Bush should be impeached or as quoted from one comment I just read above, “Oh and McCain didnt have an affair?”‘…. just to make Edwards look like a victim.
Nice touch. Disregard the possibility that Edwards is a liar and a cheat by suggesting that someone else has done wrong. That’s a great defense! Come on left-wingers, you can do better than that.

Is John Edwards still running for president?
For days now, Fox has been running the, “Why is the media ignoring this story” promo.
That’s easy. No one really cares. He isn’t going to be president or vice president, and I don’t know if that really matters anyway.
Do we really want to start looking into the “personal” lives of all our officials? What about Senator Vitter from Louisiana who had an affair after playing the family values card forever? He is still a senator and had an affair with a hooker. Is Fox trying to get him out of office. Talk about hypocrites.
This is nothing but trying to destroy someone because you don’t agree with his political views. It has nothing to do with his possible love affair.
I personally detest men who don’t keep their marital vows, but it has nothing to do with his competency as an official — Democrat or Republican.

I was stunned when during the debates he turned positions on Hillary because he thought she was his real obstacle and needed to be eliminated then Obama struck him down.
