Once a Pedophile, Always a Pedophile

By Lis Wiehl
Former Federal Prosecutor/FOX News Legal Analyst

Brooke’s uncle…her stepfather responsible for her kidnapping, rape, and death? Unthinkable…But sexual assault of a child is unlike any other crime. Why? Because someone who is willing to cross the line to pedophilia can never turn back. A shoplifter can be rehabilitated, a burglar can be rehabilitated, even a murderer can be rehabilitated. But not a pedophile. Once a pedophile, always a pedophile. And the children drawn in are the most hapless of victims…betrayed by the people most responsible for taking care of them…tragic.

The people who support these pedophiles must be pedophiles themselves. (Frank, Matt, etc.)

Comment by Fred Davis, Deputy Sheriff (Ret)

The reporter is correct. What’s scarier is that every pedophile I ever encountered or arrested says that next time he would kill the child so that there’s no victim testimony. In addition, several peds have stated (as we turn into the galley of the jail) that when they get out they’re going to do it again. What do we do? Let them right back out. Peds need the “injection”.

Comment by Jon R.

Isn’t it strange that many of those people that are harsh against sex offenders usually are exposed as sex offenders themselves. Almost as if being vocal against gives them a cover for their own crimes, Think about it!

Looks like a serial killer pattern emerging. Obvious this guy needs to be stopped. Just hope autopsies are conclusive enough to get the prosecutors to seek the death penalty. He should’ve gotten life w/o parol to begin with.

Comment by Eva

I want our laws stricter on these sickos who CANNOT be rehabilitated! I am all for the death penalty for these DEMONS who forever ruin the lives of our innocent children.

Comment by Babs

My grandfather molested me, my sisters, my cousins, my mother, my aunts, should I go on? My mother blocked it from her memory, my aunts remembered but never told anyone, etc. etc. Same old story. I reported him when I found out he had access to children but no one would do anything because he was an “old man” by then. My grandfather started when he was in his teens, and stopped when he died at the age of 85. Children must be taught at home about appopriate touching; but not all parents do this so I do support providing information to a child at school.

Forgiveness is the only hope a child has to recover, forgiveness for themselves for “not telling”, forgiveness for the person who did it, yes there is hope for the child’s recovery, but there is no hope for the perpetrator. I do not believe they should be “housed”, “treated” and released. The death penalty should be an option for any person (man or woman) who rapes or molests a child.

Comment by Ed C

While an emotional issue, speaking to any psychiatrist about pedophilia, she will tell you that pedophiles are in fact able to be rehabiliated. The evidence is there, however prosecutors choose to ignore it because it doesn’t support their cases for long incarceration — which wins them votes in elections. Yes, acts of pedophilia are wrong and tragic, however we will never be able to appropriately deal with the problem as a society until lies such as the one in this commentary stop being told to the public.

Seeing these horrific crimes commited on inocent children is disturbing and sickening- even to the most harden crimnals, or the most senior detectives that have to work these cases. Although you can never justify any type of crime, especially those on an innocent child, however, what makes this even more grotesque is that it was commited by her own family. This fact in of it self shows that this is more then just a slight desire to do something evil, its an uncurable disease. Anyone who has that kind of desire and then acts on it shows no ability at self control and should be given the harshest penalties our law can impose.

Comment by WRJonas

This has been a subject for decades and it has never been appropriately solved. Many year ago I worked through the night coordinating airport construction activity and I used to listen to a radio host out of California take issue with this problem. I cannot remember his name but this was a big subject in his program and it simply boiled down to one humane solution. Sentenced for life , irrevocably and without societal contact on an island .maintained permanently and administrated jointly for the sole purpose of effectively ridding our world of these predators. The leper solution.
He made his case very well and in considering the proposal he pointed out a very telling analogy. Judges don’t mind letting these beast back into society as long as there is no personal involvement. They are willing to stick your hand back in the fire over and over rather than making a decision that causes their conscience discomfort .If they cannot be executed then they should be isolated.

i am a corrections officer of nine years. i know for a fact, from experiance, these animals will never change. they are beasts that will never be tamed.
countless times have i delt with repeat offenders. yet judges and attorneys still manage to let them go,so of course they will act again!!
in our liberal society, the government will never be harsh enough to put a stop to these animals. that is why from my occupational standpoint, i am disgusted with our government!

Comment by Elisa

I agree with your view and also believe the same of all sexual predators.

Brook’s mother should be arrested for being irresponsible and neglectful for allowing her daughter to be in the company of these men. Shame on her!

Comment by Marie

Part of me fully agrees with the comments here that once a person (if you could call them that) has sexual contact with a child even once, he/she should be put to death. It has been proven time and again that there is no cure or rehabilitation for a pedophile. Here’s the part that you have to think about.. if this “person” would get the same penalty for killing the child as he would for the sexual content what is going to stop him from getting rid of the evidence? I am involved with the Kanka Foundation (the driving force behind Megan’s Law) and have had serious conversations with family members affected. Pedophiles needs to be kept in prison for their full sentences (if not for life) and still kept under survellience thereafter. Maybe they need to be sent to some colony together away from innocent children or be surgically neutered (mentally & physically)to remove their urges.

As a psych major back in the late 60’s we knew that a molestor could not be rehabilitated. It was repeatedly, scientifically proved. Sometime in the PC 80’s this little inconvenient fact was forgotten. It remains forgotten to this day. You still have people making excuses for them.

Unfortunately, there is no solution. Why do we see the increase in numbers? I suspect it is because of the do your own thing society we are living in. People have either never learned or ignore the maxim “your rights end where mine begin”. The child predators are really only the tip of the iceberg today. The guy cutting in front of you on line, the clown who speeds by at 80 in a 55 zone scattering everyone, The mortgage lenders who lie through their teeth to get the commission and the oil speculators are all symptomatic of a society that does not understand that we are a collection of individuals, gathered into a nation voluntarily who have, in the past, agreed to live by rules for the betterment of all.

On this July 4th, wouldn’t it be nice if we paused and thought about that. It’s really getting to be time for a second American revolution to re-establish the rights of the many over the few as it was supposed to be.

While I agree with Lis’ comment that pedophiles cannot be rehabilitated, I worry that by saying it so often, we give the impression that the pedophiles are not responsible for their actions. Even if they cannot change their attraction to children, each attack or seduction of a child is a choice made by the adult, not the child. There are really only three choices here: 1) lock them up forever, 2) execute them, or 3) drug them forever. Our society needs to develop a spine and act to protect children permanently once a pedophile is discovered.

Convicted Lowell child rapist back behind bars for violating probation
By Lisa Redmond, lredmond@lowellsun.com
Article Last Updated: 07/04/2008 06:36:00 AM EDT

Boisvert … served year for raping girl

LOWELL — A 25-year-old man who served jail time for raping a 10-year-old girl in Lowell and appeared on the state’s most-wanted sex-offender list is back behind bars for another two years.

Derek J. Boisvert was wanted on a Lowell Superior Court warrant charging statutory rape of a child and two Lowell District Court warrants charging him with failure to register as a sex offender, police said.

Boisvert served a year in jail, followed by five years probation, after pleading guilty in 2001 to repeatedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl he lived with in the Julian Steele housing project in Lowell in the late 1990s.

In Lowell Superior Court recently, Boisvert was found in violation of his probation and ordered to serve the remaining two years of his Middlesex House of Correction sentence.

Those assaults occurred from 1997 to 1999. Boisvert, then 18, pleaded guilty to four counts of rape of a child, two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child, and a single count of violating a restraining order.

Prosecutors allege in court documents that Boisvert began sexually assaulting the 10-year-old girl in 1997 when both lived at the Julian Steele complex. Boisvert was in his mid-teens at the time.

Due to a common relationship between the families, Boisvert would allegedly go to the girl’s apartment and sexually assault her.

In August of 1999, both families moved to a new apartment in Lowell where Boisvert allegedly began raping the
Advertisement
girl twice a week.

The assaults continued until the summer of 1999, when the victim told a friend. By that October, the girl disclosed the alleged assaults to a school counselor. At that point, the girl obtained a restraining order against Boisvert.

Prosecutors allege that Boisvert violated the restraining order when he drove alongside the girl in a car operated by a relative and attempted to speak to her. When she refused, he allegedly followed her as she walked home.

He was added to the list of Massachusetts’ 10 most-wanted sex offenders on Feb. 7 when he failed to register as a sex offender.

Boisvert was discovered about 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 20, at home in Hampton, N.H., where Hampton police and members of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force had tracked him down.

Boisvert was listed as a Level 3 sex offender on the Web site of the Lowell Police Department, and was listed as working in Hampton, but had registered as being homeless in Lowell. He was also living in Hampton, at 31 Ocean Boulevard, Unit 1, on the beach town’s main drag, police said.

What’s wrong with torture? I think it’s justified for child rapists and terrorists.

I worked in Vermont for over seven years for the Department of Corrections. This is just the most sensational crime, these things are going on every day there. When I was there Dean was still the Gov. and the state system in general is a liberal experiment on how they can save offenders. My proudest moment was receiving on an anual evaluation a rebuke the read ” Tony has voiced how he feels the offenders are all scum “. I have that framed on my wall. The liberals in the state have used the system as a grand experiment on how they can help people at the expense of the public. I blame the Vermont public for voting in these feel good canadates that bring them this disaster. I also blame the Correctional Staff who know these programs do not work but are afraid or unwillling to blow the whistle.

This would stop happening if the judges that let these creeps out - in this case judge Amy Davenport - were held as accessories to murder, kidnapping, rape, etc. when it happens again. The parole officer who argued his case should also be fired for incompetance. What the hell…if you are against the death penalty, at least be decent enough to society to be against the parole system as well. 25 yrs should be 25 yrs, not 5. Vermont used to be a wonderful place, now it is a place that is actually dangerous for women and children…pedophiles know that the judges up their are sympathetic to child molesters and they actually spend tax money to ‘help them’….well, here is the result. Vermont’s criminal justice system is a complete joke.

I have to agree with everyone else always a pedophile always a pedophile and oce a child molestor always a child molester. Did the family know his history of these crimes? If the mom knew why would she let her daughter go with this guy? uncle or no uncle! As a parent I am tired of these predotors getting out of jail on good behavior. Rehabilition does not work! I don’t care what anybody says they can’t be “fixed” into thinking that they are normal. They are not normal for having these kind of thoughts about children. These people are sick and perverted. This country needs to start protecting our children better. The Congress, senate, legislators and the representives need to pass stricter laws on pedphiles and molestors. Why doesn’t this country invest in the kids who are this country’s future instead of investing billions into other countries?? This country needs to put its own citzens first and like I said have stronger laws. They should not get out on good behavior-spend their lifetime in jail or execute them. Better yet why can’t this country send them to Siberia? If they try to escape from Siberia they will freeze to death. The USA needs to stand up for its children and protect them. WE ALL NEED TO DO SOMETHING TOGETHER!!!!

Comment by Aboleo

I agree with Roberta. These people are mentally ill. There NEEDS to be permanent civil incarceration
Our children are indeed our most precious resource and need to be protected.

I totally agree with you. They are deviates and have been overcome with lust. I was molested by my grandmother’s husband as a young child and he tried many times once I became a teenager. I always had to be on guard and when I would his car would go hide and shake until he left. My grandmother said I enticed him, which in itself is sick. He did receive his final punishment by losing his mind by Alzheimers. I feel no sympathy for him and I know his hell will be hot.

These men and women will never change and shouldn’t be allowed to live. The continue to destroy lives and create a vicious cycle our society has to endure. The young girl in VT is a perfect example of a wasted life. Her uncle and step father should receive the ultimate punishment…death.

Comment by Ann

What does anyone expect when sex is everywhere we turn? Young girls are sexualized in magazines, the movies and on TV, the internet. I have come to the conclusion that most men are just born predators. Not all, but a big majority of them are. The way girls and women are portrayed and allow themselves to be demeaned and exploited only re-enforces these abusive males to take advantage of them. Look at what Christie Brinkley is going thorugh right now with her soon to be ex husband. They guy had a $3000 per month porn addiction and looked at it even from his own kid’s computers. Not only that, he dated 18 year olds, barley over the legal age limit. These loser guys can’t control their urges as it is. They have easy acccess to young girls with the interenet and the fact that many of these girls’ parents are out all day working and are not there to keep an eye on their children, make them easy prey. I don’t understand how this girl’s uncle and stepfather were getting away with all of this and the mothers of these girls seem to have been no where to be found. It almost sounds as if they might have been aware of the situation but chose to ignore it. Maybe the mothers need to be held accountable as well in this sick situation.
We need zero tolerance of pedophiles and child rapists. Automatic 25 to life prison sentences with no parole and in some caes- the death penalty. Better yet, just mix these losers in with the general population of the prisons and see how long they last . I am so sick and tired of hearing about children getting abused and murdered. Our society has no respect for children and seem to care more about the perpertrator’s rights than the victim’s. It’s going to get the the point where vigliante justice might end up making a comeback with these pieces of $#*&

Sex Offender treatment can work if the offender is willing to do the work it takes. All pedophilers are sex offenders, NOT all sex offenders are pedophilers.

Comment by Tim

Yes, we are all sinful by nature. But the worst child molestation happens 3, 600 times a day, on average, seven days a week, in the United States. A perfectly healthy baby is ripped out of his/her perfectly healthy mother, tossed–ten fingers, ten toes and all–into a waste can, and is called a “choice”. No wonder people want to blow us up.

The power of Jesus Christ can overcome any sin nature. Ask a sober alcoholic who has cried out to Christ and have been delivered from darkness. Ask the previous promiscuous teen who has found Christ and has been delivered from the slavery of sexual sin. And ask any Christian who knows that he is no better than anyone else but is obedient to his Lord and will not shut up about the truth–the whole truth–that is found in the deliverance found in the Word of God.

The self-righteousness found in the responses so far, from unbelievers, show the hypocrisy of those who call Christians “judgmental.”

Comment by Dan Jensen

I agree with those who say pop these sleeze bags into the chair and pull the switch, but some sniveling, whining ACLU types would probably have a hissy fit over that. Instead, send them all to places like Attica or San Quenton, and make them wear special prison uniforms that say, “Child Molester” on the front, and have a large target on the back. The other prisoners will do the rest.

Comment by Darlene Roach

You seem to forget most if not all sex offenders were an innocent victim of a sexual offense at some point during their life. Because the system failed them when they became a victim we throw them away?
Our creator forgives everyone of us no matter what we have or have not done. We can all change if we understand why we make the choices we make. A change in the system has to be set into motion to rescue these victims to ensure they do not cross the line at any point during their life. I can tell you when a child becomes a victim of a sexual offense they are very confused. whether society wants to admit it or not when a child is violated they experience a good feeling and a horrible feeling at the same time, this is why they become so confused. They need our help not us failing them again and again. Let me stress not all children that are victimized in a sexual offense become a sexual offender but many do. Its up to all of us to make the right changes that will cause the snowball effect to get smaller and smaller with the proper response form the world as a whole. The way this type of crimes have been handled in the past up to present day have failed us all. Wake up people take the blinders off make the changes that will make a difference in the whole area of these type of crimes.

“It propably stems from when the united states was young, child brides/grooms were the norm, records show some as young as 11 in the state books.

what probably needs to be done are historical records checks on all men/woman that took child brides/grooms in those early years at those ages and passed those genes onto others, or simply need to have decendants hunted down and prosecuted for these crimes that are being introduced today”

Mark, you are a moron. you could have been the right hand of hitler. don’t get me wrong, i totally agree with this article. i would gladly look them in the eye as i pushed the plunger for their lethal injection after a week or so of brutal torture for what they do to kids and then go home to a good night sleep but to say it is genetic is insane. look to your own history Mark and you will probably find at least one ancestor that married under the age of 14 because that was the norm of society at that point. when you find the evidence in your family i expect you to take your own life due to your convincing argument.

Brooke’s mother is at blame here also. How dare you leave your children around a pedofile? How dare you have another man in your life while still raising children. Her focus should have been on the children and not herself. I blame Brooke’s mother and sister for allowing these awful men into their lives. As for the husband and uncle they should be held under federal law and executed for the crimes.

Someone I love and care about very much is a pedophile. It’s disgusting. I’m sick to my stomach. The person I thought I knew doesn’t exist. I sympathize for his victims. He is in jail, but I would prefer he were dead than know what he’s done to his victims.

Once a Pedophile,always a Pedophile.

My granddaughter father was one.The only reason he went to prison at the time is he had my young granddaughter and her young friend from across the street spending the night and were both in the same bed as my granddaughter’s dad.

The young girl told her mom what happened and the mother called the police. My granddaughter’s dad’s mother denied that her son was capable of such a horrible act. She spent a lot of money trying to keep him out of Jail.

My mother was once married to one. Very often wives and mothers strongly deny that their husband or sons are Pedophiles. Please don’t use my name,it would only hurt my granddaughters who are now grown. Pedophiles rape babies too. Anyone who thinks Pedophile can be rehabilited are the ones who are making money off them as in counselors, rehabs etc.

9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

A child preditor can be forgiven and delivered like any other sinner. However, they must take full responsibility their action in this life.

Comment by Brock Wilson

The laws in this country need to be modified to protect our children. A conviction of a sexual crime against a child should be rewarded with the death penalty. Persons convicted of viewing child pornograpy, life in prison. Once a pedophile, always a pedophile.

Comment by David

If the premise is that these people who prey on children can be “cured” with therapy, then too should hold true to offering therapy to homosexuals. Would therapy “cure” their homosexuality? I think not….my example tries to show how silly it is to un-pervert the mind of a sexual predator. Therapy, whatever that means, can not cure their natural impulses. You don’t need a doctorate to understand that!

We need to rethink the way we handle these people. One thing for sure is they should not be released to the general public! How many examples are needed before these civil liberties groups start worrying more about the children’s civil liberties?

Comment by Jean

I agree with pathfinder! I know of a couple of men who were lumped into this category who weren’t pedophiles but none the less wear this label for the rest of their life. Our system is run by lawyers and judges who are out to get votes or money. They look better if they can say they are “tough on crime” and list the number of sex offenders they have convicted. Who cares if they are innocent. What I am saying is that we can not throw every sex offender into the same category as this uncle or John Cooey. There are guys out there who were labeled with this same label, but they were 23 with a 17 year old girlfriend. There needs to be a reform and we need to start seperating the levels of this offense and start punishing them based on the crime.

My brother-in-law sexually assaulted by contact my 6 year old daughter. My daughter told me immediately preventing this sick behavior from being repeated. I made a report to child welfare who spoke with the brother-in-law and then did a complete evaluation on my home. The end result was they felt the assault occurred, but because I would never allow my child with this person again, they would close their case. I argued with child welfare that he had daughters of his own. I was advised that until he did something to them, there was nothing they could do. Well he is now awaiting trial for raping his very own daughter. Of course he says he never touched his daughter, but then he said the same thing about my daughter. My hope is that he rots in jail forever and can never touch an innocent child again. This behavior cannot be cured.

Comment by Ann

All I hear about these days is the rights of the offender, what about the rights of the victims? Yes we should forgive, no we should never trust these people again. I think they should all be shot and God can deal with them. A bullet is cheaper than a trial.

Being a registered sex offender who lives in Florida, I have changed and turned my life into something better since I was arrested in 1989. Rehabilation is possible for the sex offender, If he acknowledges he has a serious addiction and seeks help from trained experts. If you think otherwise, Then you havent done proper research on this tedious subject. Frankly, A high profile case such as this one comes along and the frenzy becomes hysterial. Not all registered sex offenders continue to pose a threat to society and my daily life proves this.

Comment by Paul Griffin

I was especially heartened by Ken’s and Ginny’s well-thought-out remarks.

If I understand Ginny’s point correctly, Jesus Christ is able to forgive and change any person - even those guilty of various sexual perversions. Yet, in the case of pedophilia, it seems wise to restrict such a person’s access to children, even if such a person has proven over time to be repentant/rehabilitated.

Comment by Mary

Please all realize pedefiles make up only about 1 percent of registered offenders and in the six hundred thousand plus many are for peeing outside (name a boy who did not do this while camping or hunting?) or teen consensual cases like Oklahoma Ricky (http://www.rickyslife.com) or somebody who at 18 took a pic of his gf who was under 18 and now charged with child pron even though he had no clue and was being a dumb kid. The new AWA is placing offenders into a Tier not by the facts of the crime but by the charge (contact me for more info) and kids like Ricky ae being put Tier 3. We claim there is no rehabilitation yet we have therapists who take money daily for treatment and those indeigent who cannot find work due to thelaws are given free therapy by tax payers like yourselves. Police and several other experts are demanding pliticians fix this registry cause no longer can it be used as a tool to keep our children safe when we have so many different cases on it and one cannot tell who is the real threat. You want public safety for ourkids? Then research the facts and stop thinking all offenders are horrible monsters cause in truth the charge you read is just the states version. Heck look at Rickys page it reads lewd or lucivious with a child yet no word she was 13 or she lied or he was a 16 year old consensual. The one responsible for these laws is the politicians and they blame it on the public saying you all demand stronger and tougher laws but who is telling you teh truth? Do you ever see a media outlet talk of the Romeos on the registry and how they are in the ix with predators? Do you see them discuss John Doe registers cause he was peeing while camping and someone turned him in? Or Maggie took a pic of herself and posted it to myspace and now registers cause the state deemed it child porn of a child even if herself? How many cases are like this? Do you know? Do you care to know? Do you want the registry for the real dangers? If yes then research, educate and demand change so the real dangers are kept in prison and resources can be used to monitor those who are out living amongst the children. http://www.rickyslife.com Mary rickysmom@rickyslife.com

Comment by Peg in Nashville

All this talk of forgiveness is all well and good, but it is a very separate issue. In any type of abuse, betrayal, etc., figuring out how to forgive is always going to be part of the healing process. That being said, I am in complete agreement with Lis. By their own admission, these people cannot be rehabilitated. They have a propensity to do the most evil of acts against a child, and once they have, they never lose their propensity for raping a child. Given any opportunity whatsoever to abuse and possibly murder another child, they most certainly will. That is all they are waiting and looking for, is another opportunity. I am in favor of them being in prison forever, or geting the needle; both work for me, but once arrested and convicted of this most heinous of crimes, pedophiles should never be given freedom again. Judges that grant light sentences or parole or whatever deserve to be disbarred.

Comment by Mary

How are the American people to use the registry as a tool to know who has been asessed to be pedefiles if we got kids like Oklahoma’s Ricky or someone peeing in the woods while hunting clogging the system up? Gus Blackwell of the Oklahoma House recently told me the “predators are hiding in the registry” yet nothing is being done to fix this. Ricky was 16 met a girl who told him she was almost 16. Well turns out she lied and truly was 13. Now he is a high risk offender for LIFE even though his terapist deemed him NO THREAT to childen. So Ricky is among all those faces on a registry which is being blown into oblivion cause of consensual cases known as Romeos or because youths are having sex with sixteen year old girls who are still not state legal age of consent. When will people research facts and stand up to the government? The registry for offenders is simply a testing ground as many states are looking now to more registries like for arsonists, child abuse, domestic violence, drug offenders, DUI, murder…what in our past will snare into one of these new registries of the future? How many will allow their constitutional rights to be violated like sex offenders are currently? Please sign my petition to get kids like Ricky off the registry and demand politicians use facts not myths cause with kids like Ricky on there no one knows who the real dangers are. http://www.rickyslife.com or http://www.cfciowa.org or email me rickysmom@rickyslife.com Thank you Mary

Anecdotally, the case can be made that murderers and pedophiles somehow cross a line where they cannot be rehabilitated. The legal and social science professions need to establish some common ground, based on research, as to the validity of the notion that there is no return, no possibility of rehabilitation as a general, or normative, reality. If it can be established that once the line is crossed, it is impossible to rehabilitate, then it is possible that capital punishment might actually be an act of mercy for a person who actually hates themselves because they can’t stop themselves from repeating one of these extreme crimes. Aileen Wuornos knew that she would repeat, and asked for the death penalty. There are things worse than death, and some of these offenders know that they are caught up in them. For murderers, anecdotally, the death penalty can be not only a punishment, but is sometimes perceived as a release for those caught in an endless cycle. Is this also the case for violent pedophiles? More research is needed.

Comment by blahblah

Some recent posts suggest that the only males are pedophiles. Think again! Almost daily we get reports of WOMEN (often teachers) having sex with underage males. But the double-standard suggests that this is somehow NOT pedophilia.

I agree with many posts, though. Pedophilia is NEVER cured and should be treated as such.

Comment by David H

I agree thet pedophiles cannot be rehabilitated. Attempts to re-introduce them into society are insane: we keep doing it and children continue to be victimized by repeat offenders.

Prison is not the answer. The system must treat these monsters differently. A penal colony would be my solution: drop them off on an island somewhere and let them fend for themselves. Is that cruel and unusual?

The sad truth is extant. Once the price and/or value of human life has been set, deviation from that set value is a simple step. It’s easy (and inwardly rational to the proponent) for any individual or group to lower that price. (An absurd value system is still a value system to the one who has devised it.) We are living within a society that embraces the “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Therefore, crimes, to include child pedophilia, are the product of a dysfunctional society. We, as an American culture, have lost our center–there must be an absolute standard that equally applies to all within a given community.

Punishment must always meet this criteria: it must punish the crime committed and also serve as a deterrent to others. When any judiciary fails to adjudicated punishment that meets this “absolute” standard, that judiciary has failed the society in which it exists.

To Vermonter, Born & Raised:

Your home state does need tougher legislation regarding child predators. VT is in the TOP 5
states for being the worst at protecting children from pedophiles. Yes, there are other states in the
union as well, but VT did not even adopt Jessica’s Law when brought to the floor. Remember Judge
Cashman??? Let’s analyze the time Brooke’s Uncle served in prison for his horrific crime in the 90’s.
It was a slap in the face to the victim and obviously placed VT children in grave danger.

Victims of home invasions, muggings, and car-jackings eventually get past it and replace their jewelry, purse, and wheels. Pedophiles take and destroy something deep within a child which can never be restored…trust is fragile and its utter betrayal with each vile act brings about multi-generational damage. The death penalty isn’t harsh enough.

I agree with you…it’s deviant behavior, they can’t be rehabilitated….We all know that we’re going to see this filthiness increase in our country…. one reason is due to the easy access of internet porn. It makes me angry and it disgusts me.
The Apostle Peter told us:
“Be sober, be viligent, for your adversary the devil roams the earth like a roaring lion, searching to and fro for whom he may devour.” 1Peter 5:8 Isn’t this a perfect description of a Pedophile…they’re demonic.

Well the first thing we will have to do is make legal ages for a varity of things. Such as the legal age a person can be given in marriage to someone else by their parents. Some states allow the parents to surrender their child in marriage at young ages.
This will very through the ages given cultural mores’ . 60years ago getting married at 13 was normal in some southern states. These 13 year old girls and boy were not like the ones today. They were raised and given great responsiblity at very young ages and should not be considered some Generic start of child molestation.
Clearly the availblity of porn and sexual content is more prevalent than ever before. Hormones love nudity it is part of being young. I am glad I did not grow up with a computer an internet. I know I would have been looking at naked women just as much as I could get away with.
We have allowed ourselves to become depraved. We have voted in the wrong men and stood up for the wrong things in this country and NOW we are all paying the PIPER. SO what age is a child no longer a child? When can a parent give there children in marriage?
When can a boy be a child molester if he is a child himself? At what time do we consider it appropriate to exicute a boy for moleting a child. IS it 11 or 12. When does he really know it is wrong to fondle a girl? These are all questions that will have to be answered soon. This is out of hand in our country. Like today an uncle of a girl has been abusing her sexually since she was 9. He brought her into a sex ring at 12 and now she is dead.
More and more off these horrors are coming to light every day. We have produce a socity of perverts and we all set by and allowed these wicked things to be produced and it has saduced us all.
Ther hast to be a quicking of the moral heart in this country and soon. Our country is suffering from its perversion and it is my children and grandchildren that will pay for it.

Thanks for you time

Yes, I graduated a sociology major. There were 2 shocking statistics I learned. The first was that there are more male college age blacks in the correctional system than in college. The second was that sex offenders are the most likely out of all criminals to reviolate and go back into prison.

Sex criminals should be castrated or be tracked for life. I just know from my studies I will never trust anyone who has been in trouble for any sex crime.

Maybe the reason Vermont judges are so lenient towards pedophiles is that they themselves might harbor the same feelings towards children the pedophiles do. It wouldn’t be such a stretch since a judge on the 9th circus, in CA, had to recluse himself from judging a bestiality case because he himself had bestiality on his computer. We’re living in a sick, sick world all thanks to non-judgemental Liberal policies.

Pedophile or gay, what’s is the difference? Why are gay’s allowed to adopt children?

I’m curious about something, so I’d like to take an unofficial poll. Going on the assumption that pedophilia is incurable, if a test were devised that could prove who was a pedophile, as opposed to who was not, regardless of whether or not they had acted on their pedophilia, should they either all be locked up and/or executed?

THERE IS A SHIFT IN THINKING IN THE DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILIES THAT PRODUCE PEDOPHILES.

AN ALTERED PERCEPTION OF REALITY. MY FATHER MOLESTED ME FROM BIRTH UNTIL SIXTEEN. HE THREATENED THE FAMILY WITH NO INCOME IF I TOLD AND MY MOTHER OUT ON THE STREETS. I FOUND OUT YEARS LATER THAT MY MOTHER KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND JUST CREATED A VEIL OF DENIAL AND INNOCENCE AROUND HERSELF. THESE WOMEN GROW UP AND LIVE WITH A SENSE OF HELPLESSNES AND HOPELESSNESS AND DEVELOPE A VICTIM MENTALITY. MY UNCLE WAS ALSO A PEDOPHILE AND ALL HIS SISTERS SEEMED TOTALLY CLUELESS, YEA RIGHT! I WAS ESTRANGED FROM MY PARENTS FOR MANY YEARS AND WANTED TO FIND AN WAY TO MAKE PEACE BEFORE THEY DIED. WHAT HAPPENED WAS MY FATHER AT AGE 90 GRABBED MY BUTT WHEN I WENT TO GIVE HIM A HUG; SO…THEY DO NOT EVER LOSE THEIR SEXUAL URGES.

MAYBE THE JUDGES THAT LET THESE GUYS GO SHOULD HAVE THEIR BACKGROUNDS CHECKED,MAYBE THEY ALSO HAVE KINKY BACKGROUNDS.

The Supreme Court was wrong in their recent decision. Maybe they need to talk to people on both sides of the fence and get a clue. Pedophiles deserve death because they take away the victim’s ability to trust anyone again, or have a normal life. This is something I can personally attest to, having been molested myself at the age of two. The child takes on the blame and shame. The only cure for these demons is death. They shouldn’t get special protection in prison either. They are evil.

I agree with Ken with a small exception.

Ken did not address the obvious short circuit that occurs in the brains of these pedophiles that allows them to take such actions. This has beens an “out” in more cases of sexual assault than I care to remember and has been used as a defeanse for these reprehensable offenses on innumerable occasaions. This has allowed these offenders to enter into the criminal justice system or the mental health system as a rehabilitatable person.

Bottom line, no pedophile is rehabilitatable. They are sexually attracted to children and always will be. There is no cure and while I would applaud any case in which these demons are put to death, in todays society that just isn’t possible. We can, however, lock these deviants up for life without the possibility of parole and I think that should be made the minimum sentance for criminal sexual assault of a minor without exception.

Unfortunately to be a pedophile is an DNA error. Our community should focus on it to fix it. That’s why pedophile always a pedophile. We can find them everywhere.Judges, priests, police officers, federal workers, caregivers, doctors, ect.God can forgive but we don’t have to.Send them to death row. Then God will forgive them.I do not make ant different if they are in my own family or not.Law should be stronger on any cases.I would not tolerate this.

Sex offenders are LESS LIKELY than any other criminal, except muderers, who this man is. See the tons of studies (which are out there, if you look):
