John McCain’s Hot Flash
By Tammy Bruce

Why are Independent Conservatives still extremely wary of John McCain? Every day he has a chance to retreat from proving to Democrats he’s worthy of their vote and instead remember what gave Ronald Reagan the biggest electoral victory in the history of the United States–Authentic Conservatism.
Instead, McCain’s current pandering to liberals (for example, the importance of giving the climate a hug) gives us something that would make the “Teds” (Senators Stevens and Kennedy) beam with pride–an International Bridge to Nowhere, replete with a fully taxed carbon footprint. But you know what the really pathetic thing is? Barack Obama is even worse.
With the economy understandably topping the list of issues of concern to the American people, we Independent Conservatives don’t trust McCain because, at his core, he’s a liberal.
McCain’s desire to prove his Democrat bona fides trumps not only his oft-stated commitment to smaller government, but exposes his lack of a basic understanding of Mother Nature herself. Not knowing how to say Ahmadinejad’s name is one thing; believing nature is subservient to mankind is silly and more importantly, debunked.
His most blatant liberal pirouette on the issue was tucked into his speech two weeks go about nuclear security. He feels so strongly about saving the climate from pesky human activity, it was the first thing he mentioned: “…There is such a thing as good international citizenship, and America must be a good citizen of the world—leading the way to address the danger of global warming and preserve our environment, strengthening existing international institutions and helping to build new ones…”
The last time I checked, our ‘good international citizenship’ can be visited in the form of American graves at Normandy, as well as those marked and unmarked throughout Europe, Asia, and most recently our liberation of 53 million Afghans and Iraqis from the boot of Islamist totalitarianism.
McCain now has two pet projects that require the creation of huge entitlement programs–for everyone except Americans. On top of wanting the U.S. to be the employment agency for everyone in Mexico, he backs the “strengthening” of the United Nations (read: more money to corrupt leftists who canoodle with tyrants) and wants more leftist internationalists reaching into our pockets and telling us how to live our lives. Hey, with the success of biofuels, who can blame him? With a few more ideas like that from morally superior liberals perhaps so many people will die eating dirt biscuits the temperature will go up only 2 degrees in the next hundred years instead of the dreaded four!

This is as plain and simple and straight forward as can be…even liberals should be able to understand this:
There is NO man made global warming. There is NO proof that man is causing the earth to warm. There is NO proven correlation between CO2 output and temperature increases/decrease. There is NO evidence that stopping/slowing our CO2 output will cool the earth.
If anyone can prove that any of those statements are false, I would love to hear it.
If he thinks that is the way to go then he should provide the argument to us on why it is a good thing. Not some superficial argument, but details that convinced him. Failing to do that leaves one to suspect he has decided the way to go on superficial arguments. That is a recepie for DISASTER!
Bravo!! Very well put…there is no proof of man made global warming, there is no sense in supporting the UN which does nothing but stand by and watch those who suffer-suffer(and in some cases helps them), BUT you have provided me with a reason to vote for John McCain…..OBAMA is worse(what a puttz)…His voting record alone tells the tail of what kind of president obama would be(i ecspecially like the voting for denying medical care for Babies that made it passed the abortion, and are still alive on the operating table..that comes straight out of a concentration camp somewhere)God help us if Obama gets to be president…with a democratic congress and house of reps…were all done for!
tammy,
your underlying theme (i.e.john mccain is a liberal) is , l believe, on the money.
so far from a conserative that pulling the lever will be a “nose holder”
So…what’s the solution? Unfortunately, the “alternative” candidates (Libertarians) are stuck in permanent “bail out of Iraq” mode.
Unless Romney wants to mount his OWN 3rd party run - true conservative principles have no champion, this election.
I guess there’s always Czechoslovakia - at least there’s a country (and leader) who understands what freedom is all about.
As the saying goes, “Ther’s no fool like an old fool”, and John McCain is an old fool.
As the saying goes, “There’s no fool like an old fool”, and John McCain is an old fool.
Wonderful, straight and to the point. What are we going to do when we have a succession of winters like we experienced in winter 07-08? How will people afford to heat their homes if, as some prominent Global Warming Denier Scientists assert, the climate fluctuations we’ve experienced are due to cyclical factors and we are now entering a cooling phase similar to the cold cycle Colonial America experienced in the last quarter of the 18th century? Will there even be enough (”legal” fuel) at any price? Will crop failures due to shorter growing seasons in North America further exacerbate our fuel and food shortages? Will illegals in the US and Canada head back south to pick crops there? Will Congress act to turn back the legislation before it starts warming up again? Will there be an American economy left to tax? Will this actually happen? Who, knows. It’s all based on fallible models, but at least there is some historical empirical data to support solar cycles. Will the Republican Party ever learn? More importantly, will Americans?

Illegitimi Non Carborundum!
Right on Tammy. Although McCain is showing his liberal side and some foolish thoughts ,he is still so much better than B. Hussien Obama. We also need those 13.000 + scientist whom do not believe in the globing warming crud ,to be able to debate this issue b/4 it’s too late.
Tammy; The thing I don’t understandis how John McCain got to where he is at. As a Mike Huckelbee supporter in the Primary election, and after hearing everyone on the news, Friends, and Neighbors say the do not trust John McCain, I find it unbelievable that he is the Republican nominee for President. Is there an explanation for it? I don’t see it or hear it.
A lesson for conservatives. Someone to the left of you is not necessarily a liberal. Most are moderates. That’s what John McCain is, a moderate, not a liberal as Tammy says. He’s already where all presidents (including Presidents Reagan and Clinton) end up while serving in office. In the middle.
The truth is that libs are right about some things and conservatives are right about some things. I guess it takes a moderate to figure this out.
A right winger, like most of the folks on this blog, would not have been elected this year, thereby defaulting to Mr. Obama.
-from a moderate who almost always votes GOP.
However, there is no doubt Obama would be far worse for our country, security, financial security.
Hold your nose anf vote McCain.
Obama would be a disaster.
Tammy,
No matter how much proof there is that John McCain is not a conservative republican, and no matter how much pandering he does to the left for the swing voters, he really is our only chance. So, as the previous commentor said,”hold your nose, and pull the lever.”
It’s really very simple,we have become a nation of single interest voters. If the candidate dosen’t support our single interest then he/she is not advocating what I believe and must be part of an adverse plot. Mine, illegal aliens, McCain dosen’t see things the way I do so I should vote for someone else.
We need to start thinking about the well being of the nation rather than our single interest. If Obama is elected, and a democratic congress remains for him, we will, in my opnion become a third world nation in a short time.
We need the baloney about the earth warming to make the powers that be understand the need for alternative energy sources
to Jon’s comment: the report was signed by 31,000 scientists, not 13,000. Hmmm, wonder why i never heard that on the MSM.
The biggest and possible best thing McCain will do for conservatives is to nominate strict constitutionalist judges. Remember: it was a one vote majority in Roe; it was one vote majority for gay marriage in CA. As this country careens toward becoming an oligarchy (ruled by a few), true conservatives need to install strict constitutionalist judges in all levels of government.
I agree with Jon Land completely, Hopefully a moderate will be able to SOMETHING! Done
Thank you Tammy good article. I like the intelligence in a lot of these posted responses also. I am a moderate but am conservative and liberal on a number of issues although more often conservative.
I agree with you Jon. McCain holds some traditionally liberal stances such as the whole Climate Change scam but overall is a moderate. There are things I like and dislike about him but a choice between him or Obama is a no brainer.
Since the media is making up people’s minds this election McCain is the best republican to run with. Although I don’t think he was the best candidate a conservative would have surely lost with the current political and media environment.
The scary thing is the media supported McCain through the primary showing they wanted him for their candidate. The thing is though I think that the climate change legislation was the most important issue for the global powers that be so they needed to make sure both candidates were aboard that train.
The truth is we just haven’t gone far enough with climate change legislation. We need a International Panel for Human Emissions. They can force us to wear carbon scrubbing gas masks and fit us with methane processing colostomy bags. They can make their slogan “Every time you pass gas a polar bear dies.”
Sorry I couldn’t help it. It seems the above exaggeration wouldn’t be too off the mark for some people
**************McCain doesn’t get it!!!!************
McCain’s disloyalty to his base should signal to the Democrats &nd ,may one day do so ,
that he is capable of flipping them the bird as well!!!!!
I think less will vote for him seeing this!
This kind of critisim is not helpfull. A conservative watch group gave McCain and 89. A liberal one gave Obama a 99. So McCain socially isn’t as liberal as you or I would like on spending his is solid.
More of the ridiculous from Tammy Bruce. Look Reagan is dead and a good bit of this country did not like him as a president. I would also like to point out that we have the ability to destroy this planet(with nuclear weapons) so the idea that we could not through a sustained period of destruction of rainforests and unabaited polluttans could wreak havoc with the eco-system. I mean we live on this planet so why just treat it as a dumping ground. No.2, try to live in the present, WWII is a proud accomplishment that was done for our benefit as well. Without allies don’t you believe the Axis of Powers would have for us as well? Your column reads like an emotional appeal that doesn’t really want to look at the reality of the world we live in today. I would expect nothing else from a right wing flamethrower. Don’t think about it, just get mad! Yeah, that solves a lot of problems.
We are experiencing a human phenomenon of mass hysteria based on biased computer modeling, political opportunism and financial scheming. It’s ludicrous to think we have accurately accounted for all variables to make predictions as to temperature increases within decimal points and sea levels rising within inches. Why McCain has signed on to it baffles me. Maybe he’s caught up in the hysteria. Maybe he thinks it best to flow with the tide, so to speak.
Not a day, sometimes not a moment, goes by when some new scary, horrible consequence isn’t related to global warming and why we have to take immediate steps, no questions asked, to stop it. Famines, floods, headaches, ferrets running amok, you name it. The claim now is there is a consensus about the truth of anthropogenic global warming, but it wasn’t that long ago we were asked, “What if there is only a 10% chance it is true?” Just a 10% chance, as the argument went, was sufficient to alter our lifestyle. Just in case.
My question is this, if he consequences of global warming are so catastrophic that we must not doubt, we must not hesitate to act, but if there is only a 10% chance the cause is NOT anthropogenic, shouldn’t we at least simultaneously be doing things other than capping carbon emissions and punishing economic activity? Shouldn’t we be spending gazillions of dollars to relocate coastal cities, remove populations to safer ground, stockpile staples and medical supplies in massive warehouses, etc.? All we are doing is penalizing economic activity in the name of saving the planet. If it is the planet itself that is having a hot flash and we are helpless to control it, aren’t we leaving ourselves vulnerable?
The lack of preparation for the horrible consequences of global warming beyond the alleged human capacity to affect it makes me seriously question the hysteria-induced solutions are legitimate.
No nose holding here. I’m going Libertarian. I would stay home, but that’s not enough. Republicans need a strong slap in the face. It took a Carter to get us a Reagan.
Although McCain is showing his liberal side and some foolish thoughts ,he is still so much better than B. Hussien Obama.
It’s just not a good enough reason to vote for McCain.
To straighten out that 31,000 scientist thing. Look it up, that was from 1998, not recently like the author wrote. Since then the largest force mustered up against global warming was by Inhofe with only 400 “scientists” to speak out against it. And so as a scientist I am proud to say that about 90% of scientists around the world are global warming believers because it is basic fact.
Question,
Which is warmer the moon or the earth? Arent they about the same distance from the sun? Oh wait, we have an atmosphere that keeps in the heat because the gases have something called the greenhouse effect… oh YEAH! That makes perfect sense doesnt it? This earth is warmer because the gases hold in the energy. Duh
Anthropogenic global warming…(man made global warming)
If you dont think humans can change the climate then think about how much gas we’ve put up in the air.
Picture this. Over the past 150 years we have burned about 1.5 TRILLION barrels of oil. About half has been sequestered by trees and other natural cycles. But that leaves about 75 Billion barrels of oil up in the air, but its in the gas form. So imagine that many barrels just floating around in the air. Dont think thats a lot?
Every year we put in 25 BILLION TONS, not just tons, BILLION tons, of CO2 into the air. Thats Billions of tons!
Still dont think we have a big impact?
The problem with McCain is that he’s been a Maverick for so long he doesn’t understand he’s the establishment now. The only people he’s thumbing his nose at are the people who he needs to vote for him to win the election. I don’t know if it’s occurred to him that 43% of the voters are going to vote against him if the democrats put up a wooden statue to run. And McCain is busy alienating the 43% that would normally vote for anybody with an R after his name. As a bonus, he’s irritating those of us who are more independent and conservative. The problem is that McCain is coming off like the Republicans that lost the 2006 election because he’s talking about raising taxes and spending. True not as much as Obama but any at this point is way too much.
Quote Tammy:
“The last time I checked, our ‘good international citizenship’ can be visited in the form of American graves at Normandy, as well as those marked and unmarked throughout Europe, Asia, and most recently our liberation of 53 million Afghans and Iraqis from the boot of Islamist totalitarianism.”
I personally visited the American graves at Normandy. Incredibly moving, and evidence of America’s greatness when it comes to defending the defenseless, one of the key points of a great democracy. But your comment about the “liberation of 53 million Afghans & Iraqis from the boot of Islamist totolitarianism” is utter nonsense. Our troops were NOT greeted as liberators when we invaded Iraq, and even today the majority of Iraqis want us out of their country. Tammy, you’re the classic case of a closed-minded conservative who is incapable of admitting any point of view that differs from yours … regardless of the facts. Saddam was a secularist who only paid lip service to the Sunni brand of Islam. The Sunnis, in the minority, loved him; the majority of the country however was Shia … they and the Kurds were persecuted by Saddam. Since the death of Saddam, however, the Shias have come to power, and it is their Shiite Militias that not only are persecuting the Sunnis, they are attacking our troops, the very ones you claim we”liberated”! Read a book, tune in to CNN, learn the facts. Your point of view mirrors that of Jean Schmidt, the Ohio congresswoman, who made “cut and run” popular with those dipshit Americans who haven’t the slightest idea who or why we’re fighting in Iraq. Al Qaeda in Iraq didn’t cross the Iraqi border until well after our invasion. Thank God they did, from Bush’s perspective, as it gave him and his neocon brain trust the excuse to stay in Iraq — even AFTER we captured Saddam, that Islamist totalitarian! It’s the oil, Tammy … trust me. And now with the Saudis threatening to not increase pumping additional oil, don’t be surprised if our troops make a major grab of Iraq’s oil fields.
How did the most powerful nation in the world end up with two losers like McCain and Obama? I am very depressed about the future of this country. It looks like we have seen the best days for this country and from now on I think we are going into a nose dive. |We will not be a super power long. I’m considering not watching or listening to any more media news….it’s too depressing.
John McCain is the obvious choice for any intelligent adult. He’s been a stand-out guy for years in our government. Barak Obama is a johnny come lately. I am sure that when an issue comes up, John McCain is going to look at it as an American. He has worked with Democrats trying to create bills that would enhance our government and our country. He’s shown his true colors for years. Barak Obama says some things that sound nice to hard working, tired of the Washington crapola, middle class (or at least trying to be middle class) Americans. I am not sure what he really stands for. He’s not been in our radar for long, so he can spout to his hearts content but I’m not buying what he says. He needs to prove it with a record that is longer than a minute.
Thanks!
I turned 70 years old last month. Been active all my life and I am in excellent physical health. John McCain is to old to run for president. He has already made several blunders and statements forcing staff members to correct him immediately. Yes, McCain is much to old to run for President. McCain is not to be trusted. McCain is a McBush. All in favor of reliving our future like we have for the last eight years go ahead and vote McCain. As far as global warming, there is nothing wrong with taking care of our planet now for future generations. As a recently retired Registered Nurse, 40 years ago it would have been unheard of for a patient to visit a physician with no health problems. Now it is a common practice called preventive health care. Why not take care of our planet now instead of waiting for further damage to our wonderful planet. Our planet Earth is a little old herself, and Earth needs taken care of too. I had two grandsons killed in Iraq. Even before they shipped out, I believe with all my heart that Bush started the war for personal reasons.
The only reason (and I mean the only reason) to vote for the cloddish McCain is that B. H. Obama would be a hell of a lot worse - a neo Marxist President whose party controls both Houses and who has the Main stream media in his hip pocket. There is nothing about McCain that inspires excitement or even confidence in at lest a quiet competence. Thank you, our Tex-Mex Presidente Jorge Wahabi Bush for destroying the Republican Party. For much of Bush’s reign of error, alleged Republicans (thanks to people like Hagel, Bush, McCain, Chafee) controlled the Presidency (obviously) as well as the Senate and House of Representatives and did squat with it. People like BushMcCain spent precious time reaching out to the likes of Teddy, Harry Reid, San Fran Nan, Hillary and got kicked in the gonads for their trouble. I now see why the GOP is referred to as “The Stupid Party.” If it were not for the fact that the Donks will do terrible damage to this nation as well as to our good friends (think Israel, Australia, etc.) the coming electoral tsunami (I fear) this November is one that we would well deserve. I hope El Presidente is proud of himself for his appointees such as Condi Clueless, Scott McClellan, Alberto Gonzales, Michael Brown, et al.
robert j smith: “God help us if Obama gets to be president…with a democratic congress and house of reps…were all done for!”
* * * * * * *
Uh, like we did so well with Bush and a Republican Congress?
Greater deficit than all other Presidents before him combined; doubled the size of the Education Dept; the Prescription Drug bill which is more unfunded than Social Security itself.
Big spending. Big government.
Yep, we’re done for. Our kids are going to suffer for a long, long time.
At the risk of soundibg crass and wasnting to avoid offending children, Iwill couch this message in arcane terms. We have seen a liberal GHWB and a liberal GWB sadly. Their wives Barbara and Laura are liberals. These gentlemen are not unlike Agamemnon and his wife Lysistrata who withheld certain things from her husband to gain power, if you get my drift.
Something tells me that Cindy McCain is John NcCain’s Lysistrata.
I know that most of us that read these postings realize that we are “preaching to the choir.” I wish these believers in this conspiracy of global warming would go Steven Milloy’s “Junk Science” website and look the the link under “Climate Features” called “The Real Inconvenient truth.” This section addresses and one by one picks apart the poor research and subsequent conclusions made from these “studies” and then provides some education as to how our Earth is affected by cosmic influences, not man-made, that drive climate fluctuations.
Yes, all candidates are too sensitive to world opinion on addressing global warming, but the problem goes deeper than that. As we’ve been warned by the Czechoslovakian president, this push for climate awareness is actually a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.” He says if you take a look at the average Green that they are “green on the outside, but red to the core.” Folks, the world is still faced with the push for socialism and this green movement is their “invitation to the party.” I would like to think that we (Americans) were partially responsible for the demise of the Soviet Union, but know that for a fact socialism failed (miserably) on its own. And now they have simply morphed into a new threat. If you look closely at the majority of the climate change policies, they deal with the basic concept of wealth redistribution. Hmmm…sounds like socialism to me. We must soundly reject any candidate that pushes for such “reform” in this country. Hope…? Change…? Nope, it sounds like “more of the same” to me, a continued battle against the forces that wish to suppress and dictate our way of life. They claim that “liberal” means “freedom.” Not “their” dictionary’s definition. Their’s means big government will take care of you in all aspects of your life. That care costs money. Guess where it will come from? Right, wealth redistribution.
I’m sorry, but in my humble opinion these “liberal,” “pie-in-the-sky,” “elitist” concepts have no place in an independently minded society here in America. We are responsible for our own actions and responsible for our government. It’s time we made our voices heard in our government. As others have repeatedly stated, it’s time for our leaders to look at the big picture and do something. If they can’t, dare I say it, is it close to the time when we take matters into our own hands and make the needed changes? I’ve heard others hint that they think a revolution against the Liberals and Secular Progressives is near. If so, count me in on the Conservative side. The ones that have this simplistic world view that everyone can get along can gather together on the east coast and be blown up by the Muslim Extremists that they allow unchecked into society and the “fruits, nuts, and flakes” can have the west coast. We conservatives can gather the military bases into the heartland and guard our oil and farmlands. I think we’d do OK.
“It not happening because I say so”. Yep we Liberals can easily understand this. But believing 1000s of climate scientists across the world are deliberately producing false science because… ,well who knows, is a lttle harder to accept. If you do not undertsand science, science methodology or reality then maybe you should give up just parroting debunked right wing nonsense and get an education.
I agree, that not only should voters stop the single issue voting, but also all Americans of all colors, sexual orientations, and gender need to do the same…and stop voting based on what’s best for their special interest groups, but what is best for our country. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Global warming is simply a hoax made up out of whole cloth by Algore and a number of government-paid university “scientists.” For McCain to pretend to buy into this silly hoax shows that he’s every bit the lying politician he seems.
How can anyone even consider voting for such a panderer?
Every politician gives every other politician a bad name. I guess I’ll write in Ron Paul.
(Whining) Glooobaal Waarmming, Taaxxess are toooo Hiiiigh, Blaaah, Blah, Blaaah.
For 35 years I have heard the same old song and dance from both politicians, neo-cons and the compassionate conservatives. When are you people going to wake up. You are being snowballed by the big 3 and now by Fox News (by lack of demanded inclusion of honest candidates).
As long as they keep you talking about what they want to talk about, instead of what matters, this country will go to hell in the most beautiful hand basket ever made.
No need to go into democrats. They are all liars and spin doctors. McCain. What a piece of work. I’ll bet that during the primary elections fully 75% of the “Conservatives” that are posting here voted for him. Voted for him because he repeatedly promised to many pundits, Lets see what was it?
1. No Amnesty
2. Tighter border security
3. Continuing Bush Tax Cuts
4. etc.
5. etc.
6. etc.
He couldn’t even wait until he had officially recieved the party nomination to back track. He has already started pandering and has not intention of fulfilling any campaign promise. Anybody recall “Read My Lips…”.
Ron Paul has a 20 year voting record that is solidly and truly conservative. Ron Paul does not want to pull out of the war, he wants to put the responsibility of war where it belongs, in the hands of congress. Ron Paul is the only politician that has not out right lied during this entire political season. All of the rest have.
With Ron Pauls record, if he told me he IS the alien love child, I would vote for him for president. He would be the lesser of two evils because he only lied to me once!
God Bless and Have a Great Day.
Frank Pytel
The only difference between a Republican and a Democrat is: The Republican wants to spend my money on defense, The Democrat wants to spend it on everything else.
Hello Primus,
Tammy is spot on. She’s seen both sides of the political spectrum and chose the side that approaches problems with reasoned analysis and cautious, pragmatic implementation of solutions. I assume, based on her biography that MS Bruce does not agree with everything the current conservative agenda pushes. However, despite rumors to the contrary, conservatives are much more inclusive and open-minded than are liberals and her voice is welcome here, even when we disagree.
Your comparison of all out nuclear warfare with human generated CO2 emissions that account for a paltry 2 to 8 percent of all the earth’s generated CO2 (depending upon which scientist you want to believe) is laughable. The “green nature goddess” you worship is the biggest CO2 polluter of all. Should CO2 even be considered a pollutant? Now that’s ridiculous.
So you didn’t like Reagan huh? Well, a lot of folks didn’t like Thomas Jefferson, or George Washington, or John Adams or….! What’s your point? Should we stop discussing the great things they did to establish this Republic, the greatest nation on earth?
You obviously don’t think liberating Afghanistan and Iraq are proud moments in our Republic’s history. I retired from 22 years active service in January and I can tell you that the majority of the citizens of those countries think it was a pretty noble thing we did and continue to do.
As to the reality of the world we live in today, you clearly are the one without a grip. We are wrestling for the soul of a Constitutional Republic that is teetering on the precipice of a great fall from Liberty. We are currently experiencing a “green” induced economic crises that has been wrought upon us for better than thirty years. Through alarmist science, absolutist environmentalists (not to be confused with traditional conservationism), activist judges, opportunist politicians (from all parties), a sympathetic media, and a weak minded electorate, we have unnecessarily legislated (often from the bench) ourselves out of energy independence, technological advancement, economic prosperity, and most importantly, broad (as was intended by the founders) individual liberty. Not even “dyed in the wool” Federalists (more dead guys some people didn’t like) could have anticipated our rejection of the popular sovereignty they risked their lives to give us. Had they, perhaps they’d have sided more with the Anti-Federalists and adopted more iron-clad constitutional phrasing to ensure the role of the Federal Government (all three branches) remained limited. Perhaps if Justice Marshall had foreseen the usurpation of legislative and executive authority by the last five decades of Judiciary he would have ruled differently in Marbury v. Madison. Unfortunately they did not and here we are, ready to let it all slip away on the basis of science that is at best, reactionary and at worst, absolute fraud. Angry? Yes I am…you bet!

Pat S.,
Good post. I especially like your analysis in paragraph three. I intend to borrow from it in the future. Thanks.

Illegitimi Non Carborundum!
It is a shame that John McCain has to try to find himself, do it publicly, and be our candidate all at the same time. He is the best we have, but that is because Democrats voted in our primaries and chose him for us. I hope that he chooses Romney for VP to at least give us some hope for the future.
There is no reason to vote either of them to office i.e. McCain or Obama..what got us in this mess is voting for the lesser of two evils. I refuse to do this anymore starting this year.
The Republican party needs to change its primary system for 2012
Even if I disagreed with this article (which I don’t on any count), it would be worth reading just for the last sentence!
Thanks Tammy! I didn’t know about your transformation until I returned to the States last year (I have been away for a number of years), but I am glad for you and what you are doing in the name of the issues of our day.
Seems to me we spend way too much time afraid.
I grew up in the shadow of ‘the bomb’. Any moment, nuclear war would end the human race.
Didn’t happen.
As soon as the Berlin Wall went down (thank you Ronald Reagan), we had to have something to be afraid of.
And the list is long…preservatives on apples, lettuce, DDT, hot coffee, offending anyone, global warming, car wrecks, wiring in airplanes, small parts on toys, video games, small cars, large cars, SUVs, people with different color skin, different religions, Mormons, nucleqar power, smoking outside, the year 2000, drinking water, on and on.
We went to the Moon, but you’d never know it today.
We need to quit being so damn afraid to do anything, and get back to what we do better than anyone…….invent, design, perfect new technologies and precesses and get this country back on track.
Quit looking over your shoulders and start looking ahead.
And quit being afraid.
Global warming, indeed.
The only warming is in DC where the hot air bags give off noxious sounds every time they are near a microphone.
Kick the global warming kool aid habit and live unafraid.
I haven’t followed the whole global warming debate and there seem to be as many scientists claiming it’s a real threat as claiming there is no such thing. So where does that leave us?
I believe John McCain made the point with two questions, What if we are wrong? Then we have left the world a cleaner place for the next generation. What if we are right? Then we need to act now. … not exact quote of course, but it’s true.
The states who are gung ho on environmental issues are cleaner, healthier places to live, and that’s all there is to it. The ones that let any business polute the air in order to provide jobs are risking the health of the population. Have you ever seen one of those colored maps showing levels of air polution hazards and where some cities are downright deadly to live in? It wouldn’t hurt to push recycling more, to work to clean the streams and rivers, to create cleaner alternative fuels, etc. even if there is no such thing as global warming.
Conservatives like clean healthy places to raise families same as Liberals and Independents do. This seems like a petty, ridiculous thing, to act like John McCain is a traitor to the Republican party because he wants to clean up the environment. It’s needed. Just look around.
When did being liberal or conservative, republican or democrat become more important than statemanship?
I noted that both Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton listed the good of the party ahead of the good of the country in their speeches Tuesday night. I note that Sen. McCain emphasizes his devotion to the country over his devotion to the party.
I do not agree with everything that Sen. McCain does, but given the partisan gridlock that has resulted in the abdication of Congressional responsibility to the people, ….I’ll support him.
It is far more important to be an American, than a liberal, conservative, republican, or democrat. What you call pandering is, in my view, an effort to get all of us working together for the good of the country. What we lack is a “national will” to do anything.
So focus on partisanship, and true credential as a member of a group if you will, but please show me something that proves that there is any profit in that approach. Had Congress worked on behalf of the people rather than their parties for the past fory years we would be energy independent, have a healthcare system that works, have equitable taxation etc. Instead what we have a Congress that is characterized by disrespect, dishonesty, and self interest.
Navy I agree with you. Level headed environmentalism is a good thing and benefits everyone.
The problem in my opinion is that the Global Warming legislation is not designed to enact level headed environmental policies but rather to force laws on everyone and redistribute wealth globally. I see it as a rehashed way of trying to force socialism in the name of the environment. There are a lot of laws, regulations, etc that will be passed in the name of saving the earth that politicians couldn’t push any other way.
“Developed nations have an obligation to developing nations to provide FREE clean technology and FUNDING since developed nations caused the problem.” That’s the type of mentality we’re dealing with on this issue. 10s of trillions of dollars are at stake and the supporters try saying they shouldnt have to show overwhelming scientific evidence and the debate is over. Policies that cost $10 billion get brought up as political capital, yet something that effects every facet of life is supposed to be unquestioned? That to me is scary and says there must be other motivations.
Both McCain and Obama are just about the worst condidates that either party could have selected. Let’s face it McCain is Obama execpt he wants to win in Iraq instead of running away. Other then that they are the same. Both welcome and will do nothing about illegal immigration other then making all the illegals US citizens. Both have no energy plan - both are gainst more oil drilling in the US and both do not have a detailed energy plan to US energy independence. Both believe the UN is the solution to the world problems when in reality the UN is a den of corrupt thieves that can’t even stop a civil war in Africa. Bothe consider themselves Washington outsiders when they are both part of the Washington establishment. Both want “Change” but it is obvious they don’t know what to change or how to lead to do it. Both ignore the will of the American people and subsitute it with their own.
I guess we get what we deserve since most folks in this Nation are clueless, couldn’t care less and know more about reality TV shows then political issues or what is going on in the world. I have never been less proud to be an American then I am now.
Tammy:
Mr. McCain’s ego is blinding his judgement. Obama is a light weight candidate and here we are fumbling around with issues such energy and immigration that could produce a landslide event! If Obama is so intelligent and his campaign is so focused on change; why is he surrounding himself with all of the old guard Democrats… could it be because they own him?
Keep the heat up Tammy!

I get such a kick out of conservatives trying to to find a way to keep their eyes squeezed shut, and slamming their fists over their ears so as not to hear the truth. They don’t want to see or hear evil, but they have no problem speaking evil. Conservatives are like a bunch of little monkeys in a cage, afraid to leave their little FOX world and join the real world. They are so furious at MCCain because he actually got one, and only one thing right. Yes Virginia, there is indeed global warming. Just because his little girl, I mean surrogate, I mean whiner, Sean Hannity says it ain’t so, doesn’t mean it ain’t so!! The gospel wasn’t written by members of FOX NEWS! You people really need to get out more. It is well documented and reported that members of NASA actually quit their jobs as astronauts because the Bush Administration was requiring them to lie to the public about global warming. I know, I know, the Bush Administration lie? We’re all aghast! EPA officials have quit in numbers over the past 7 years because of difficulties with the Bush/Cheney loosening of restrictions that add to things like global warming and make our oil refineries more dangerous than ever. I was no Clinton supporter either, but never has an administration been this irresponsible. The articles and “experts” that conservtive reporters march in front of you can almost always be traced back to the White House. You readers and viewers really need to take control of your lives and the info that is fed to you instead of allowing yourselves to be used as robots to be fed propoganda from any political machine be it republican or democrat. A measure of comon sense would be nice!
Erin H, instead of throwing propoganda out there could you list some scientific evidence proving global warming? The only answers I seem to get from global warming “believers” are accusations and no evidence which just makes the “deniers” that more more skeptical.
I know at least for myself and probably most “deniers” our mind is not made up. I am not saying there is not global warming; I’m saying I would like some proof before volunteering to completely disrupt world economies. I’m also saying to approach the situation in a rational way with real solutions.
The CC problem proposed by IPCC is claimed to be based on science not emotion so why can’t people defend it on its merits? Why would we be willing to blindly accept major disruptions without accountability? The public is seething mad about the costs of the Iraq war but the Iraq war is a fraction of the cost of global warming legislation. In my opinion it is the single most important domestic issue.
The “NASA experts” had to change their numbers somewhat recently to admit there has actually been cooling since 1998 so it ends up being a good thing that the Bush Administration didn’t blindly post their
Well, Tammy, I suppose you could vote for Senator Obama or not vote at all. He might be a better choice than Senator McCain since you don’t seem to like him. I think, though, that even if Senator McCain is a little more liberal than you and I would like, he’s as much as a million times better than Senator Obama. I’ll vote for Senator McCain since not voting would be a vote for Senator Obama.
There’s an article on American Thinker . com Called “McCain and the Bitter Conservatives”
This is the comment I left for it (pending moderation over there)
I hope someone with McCain’s campaign is reading this.
KNOCK IT OFF WITH THE GLOBAL WARMING NONSENSE. Global Warming is a fraud. We’re not stupid… Why are you making it almost impossible for a smart person to vote for McCain. If I hear about “carbon” one more freakin time , I swear to God.. I’m going to hit inanimate objects.
THERE IS NO WARMING.
How stupid are you people that you would advocate such an aggrandizing Cap and Trade scheme? Where are your brains?? And then moving onto oil. Stop saying their making “obscene” profits. Their profit margin is perfectly normal. We need MORE oil. That is the only short and mid-term way to get prices to come down. This is an emergency.
Do you know how stupid McCain looks when he compares some moonscape in the arctic that NO ONE will ever visit to the GRAND CANYON! You folks are so out of touch.. it’s embarrassing.. it’s distressing.
I have no faith in this country anymore. None whatsoever. You are running against a racist Radical Neo-Marxist…. You know they have no morals or boundaries . they’re going to run all over you…. you better get people to be FOR you instead of just being lucky to have people being AGAINST him.
Anybody else getting tired of having to choose between the lesser of two evils when it comes to elections?
Since water in its various forms is responsible for approximately 90% of the warming, why are we ignoring it in favor of a gas which is already at saturation and cannot contribute any more than it already has? Also, any radiation (heat) absorbed by the CO2 is, as we all know, reradiated at other wavelengths and is ultimately conveyed off-planet.
psst, half of 1.5 trillion isn’t 75 billion.
Global warming is retarded and so is Al gore. Go hump a tree libbies.
Steven: The petition project BEGAN in 1999 with a few thousand signatures, since then it has grown to over 31,000 including over 9000 PHD’s. See article at:
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=64734
SteveJ: There IS a correlation between CO2 and temperature, it’s just that CO2 increases as a RESULT of warming (Al Gore’s famous chart actually proves this, it FOLLOWS warming trends by about 400- 800 years historically).
here’s a little word I haven’t heard since this debate began, here’s what encarta says:
Photosynthesis, process by which green plants and certain other organisms use the energy of light to convert carbon dioxide and water into the simple sugar glucose. In so doing, photosynthesis provides the basic energy source for virtually all organisms. An extremely important byproduct of photosynthesis is oxygen, on which most organisms depend.
I am looking forward to all of the benefits of global warming if indeed, it is real.
As far as McCain and Obama…you can’t believe a word either of them spews. They
will say whatever it takes to get votes. The only thing we can do is look at their
past records. They can’t lie about that. McCain doesn’t need to be coservative or
moderate, he just needs to be slightly right of Obama to get the votes. Obama
makes that easy! You want their true agendas? Look to the past. All McCain needs
to do is to stay alive and keep his foot out of his mouth. Democracy is just a mirage.
I held my nose and voted for GHW Bush and got “read my lips”and a thousand points of light. I held my nose harder, voted for “compassionate conservative” GW Bush and was rewarded with being called a vigilante for expecting him to defend our southern border and enforce immigration law. Now McCain piles on shamnesty, adds global warming cap and tax scam to his platform, and refusal to support drilling ANWR to name a few viral forms of globalist socialism. Sorry, the stench is way too strong to overcome with merely holding my nose.
