Either he separates himself from people who helped him get where he is and is seen as an unscrupulous opportunist and precisely the kind of politician that he has belittled, or he stays in contact with them and is seen as (perhaps rightly so) supportive of the extreme and implausible ideals that many of his Chicago supporters advocate. It’s really a lose-lose situation, it seems. I’m interested to see how many other people he’ll have to push off his wagon in the course of the presidential race.

Senator Obama is being a good politician - I’m sure that he told Reverand Moss and the members of Trinity that his resigning from the church doesn’t really change anything - its just how he has to play politics. He isn’t renouncing the church’s theology, only doing some paper work.

I don’t agree that Senator Obama’s faith is a “fairly conventional Christian faith”. He joined a church of black liberation theology. While many Christian churchs have strong statements on social justice - it is social justice for all people. Black liberation theology is about advancing black people while bringing down their white oppressors. Statements like “allegiance to Africa” are not part of “coventional Christian faith”. One of the ways that Senator Obama is out of touch with the general electorate is that he thinks he practises the same Christianity that others practise - and as long as he practises black liberation theology - that is just not true. So, quitting his church is not enough - he must renounce black liberation theology - or at least recognize that it is different and then explain how he can be POTUS and still have “allegiance to Africa” at the center of his religion.

Something that is being ignored is that Senator Obama got tax $ (earmarks) to support churches (I believe that both Trinity and Father Fleger’s parish recieved money this way). Why should my taxes go to support his churches?

Regarding Obama’s announcement to resign from the Trinity United Church of Christ, I am expecting to, but haven’t yet seen Trinity Church loudly denouncing Barack and calling for all blacks in America to boycott Obama as a candidate for the office of President of the United States.

Barack has now clearly and publicly violated the most fundamental tenets of the Black Liberation Theology that he believes in and the Church stands for. In resigning from the church in order to enhance his electability he has “sold out to whitey”, solely to advance his career - this flies in the face of everything he and his church believe in and is a slap in the face to every member of the church and every follower of Black Liberation Theology.

Is Trinity United Church of Christ going to demonstrate their moral conviction to the theology? If so, they MUST condemn his announcement and call for a boycott of his candidacy. Or are they all selloutsas well? Time will tell.

Just a gut feeling I have that there are plenty more far left associations for him to toss under the bus. I don’t think the media machine left or right has dug it all up or covered it all up. I have a feeling there will be plenty of mud to supply both sides with cannon fodder before it is all said and done in November. I think the far right is proably saving some of the deeper darker mud for him in the general election and the far left will be doing it’s best to do the same to McCain.

Republicans call Democrats ‘fiscally irresponsible’, yet the last three Republican presidents have each successively added more to the national debt than all other presidents before them combined.

Republicans were SURE that the Democrats would try election fraud…and while there is NO evidence that the Democrats did so in the past several elections, there’s PLENTY of evidence that the Republicans did so (see rawstory.com).

Republicans are all for national security - they want to spend more even when we’re spending more on defense than the rest of the world combined…but they don’t want to give educational benefits to anyone who put their life on the line in Iraq for ‘only’ three years.

And oh yeah - McCain will give us ‘tax cuts’ to help with our health care costs…never mind that his plan will NOT pay for health coverage for a family of four that’s already in good health, much less for a family that has preexisting conditions. Such ignorance is one reason why we’re FORTY-FIFTH on the list of countries by life expectancy…and ONLY TWO of the countries with higher life spans do not have Universal Health Coverage - Jordan and Bosnia, 40th and 42nd, respectively. ALL OTHER NATIONS on the list above us have some form of Universal Health Care, which includes almost ALL of the rest of the free industrialized world.

One last thing - we DO have socialized health care here in America. It’s not just welfare. It’s also the military health care system, and I, as retired Navy, have it for life. So if you’re retired military or on welfare, you’ve got socialized health care.

I am sure you probably, and many Americans won’t hold the same theory I have, but I don’t have any doubt about my theory. Barrack Obama is a Muslim, and this has been a plan for some time. Of course A LOT of people don’t question where he has received his money for his campaign, even though he ,being a poor black person, could not have pulled this off without help. In my opinion, this reflects poorly on his character as well as on his judgment. If he chooses radical personal friends and exercises poor judgment in his personal life, what makes anyone think that it will be any different in his public life? What a person has done in the past is the best measuring tool to gauge what he or she will do in the future.

The bottom line is we don’t know why he associated with these people for so long. Senator Obama has chosen not to explain these relationships, and the main stream media absolutely refuses to challenge this man on any point. If Senator Obama wants my vote, and the votes of other conservative and middle of the road Democrats, he must explain his past associations. It is not enough to terminate them after they are exposed to the light of day.

For good or ill, we judge others by the company they keep, because everyone tend to choose as our friends and associates those who have the same interests, beliefs and values as do we. I was really hoping Hillary would manage to get the votes necessary to run for President and get Obama out of there. I say this because there’s nothing about Obama H. that I trust. This is obvious each and every day he has to problem solve due to his history and his wife’s history. If people could actually see how many times he’s changed in order to accomadate the election and his personal agenda, he should of been done already. By the way…what has he done? Honestly I am a Hillary supporter. I probably agree only about 50% of the time with you Bill and this is one of these times. My feeing is Obama should have left the Church prior to announcing his candidacy and once Rev. Wright started to become an issue it was imparitive that he left. Unfortunately he stayed with the Church but I am not 100% he resignation of membership was genuine. If elected, lets hope that he is not, what role will Wright, Pfliger, Oprah and all of the other Obama ‘nuts’ will have in his administration. Lets hope McCain defeats Obama so that we do not have to find out.
